General Discussion / Rah's B and S VS EPAO?!
September 27, 2017, 01:58:32 PM
Rah's Bionics and Surgery Expansion VS Expanded Prosthetics and Organ Engineering

Wich one would you recomend?

The situation is as follows:
-Be me; only use a hand full of QoL mods, no game altering stuff
-Be happy
-Forget a single piece of wall...
-Be suprised when the Mechs suddenly come from the back and not the front
-Have like 85% of your colony missing limbs and running with only on lung/kidney
-Be desperate
-Now have to decide wich mod to use to clean up the mess

Wich one should I use? Wich one is good for what? EPOA looks like a lot of features, but do I really need them? I don't want a cyborg army, I just want kate and Sam to walk and breath at >20% again :/ also a few feet and femurs wouldn't hurt...
On the other hand a few nice features would't hurt, but I don't want to overengineer it.

Any suggestion is appreciated

Edit:
I also don't want to make the game to easy. But having everybody crippled to the max just isn't a state I can accept!

Edit Edit:
My poor Labradors also could use some new limbs.... A dog said or Vanilla friendly animal surgery?
I experimented with all 4 mods a bit but I never got so far that I would've been able to propper use them so this is why I'm asking for opinions here.

I mean there are several different icons for the same terrain type.
This for example are all "large hills":

Is there anything going on with the icons? Do they actually matter?

General Discussion / Low wealth playthrough?
September 24, 2017, 06:52:38 PM
Currently I'm trying to finish the game for the first time in my life and my approach is the following:
-No mods
-No wealth
-Going straight for the ship related researches
-Cassandra on rough (because I'm a noob :/ )

Can somebody whos actually done such a thing give me some tips?

PS: Current state of the colony: Spring year 2, hiding in the colony with my boars while ~15 foxes wait for me outside....

General Discussion / Mods you concider "must have"?
September 19, 2017, 04:17:57 AM
I've been playing with A17 for a while now and since I'm a "only the mods you really need" -person I got my modlist down to "a hand full" of mods I concider essential:
 <activeMods>

HugsLib

StackXXL

ChickensMod

DeadMansClothing

RBSE

A Dog Said

AnimalsLogic

TilledSoil

EasySpeedup

QualitySurgeon

Hand Me That Brick

IdleFix

RotTickFix

MyLittlePlanet

Configurable Maps

DontTemptMe_v1.2

RuntimeGC

And as always I'm interessted in how others mod their game. Well specifically I'm interested in "small" mod list, not those 5 pages long "gimme all da moooods" -lists, but rather those boiled down to the essentials ones.

Okay I played with "Configurable Maps" and had good fun with increased animal spawn, but now it gotten out of hand :S
They're everywhere!

--> Is there a way to edit my savegame to limit the animal spawn on my map somehow?

Ideas / New Zone Type/Restriction: "Work Zone"
September 11, 2017, 07:32:11 PM
I'd love to have my taylor for example to be able to move unrestricted trough my base but only work inside the tailor shop. So it would be neat to be able to zone the shop and tell him to only accept work orders given by stuff in that zone. Like "do bill at tailor bench", "clean tile X inside workszone", "haul muffalo wool from shelf to bench" etc.. just becaus I'd like him to haul, clean, repair, construct etc. but only inside his litte zone. I don't want him to deconstruct a shippart at the end of the map or clean the hospital, I want to be able to control him without constant micromannaging the fun out of the game.

I always feel terrible when I got to take them behind the shed to ensure I don't have to feed more people through the winter the I can afford.
I mean whats the logic behind someone just passing by a colony and then just joining them without any permission?!
Same goes for rescued folks. I'm a kind leader and I mostly pick up those poor bastards and patch them up, because I'm a nice person. But if they want to join they should ask. Its kind of annoying to fix them and then euthanise them because they're unskilled, pyromaniac druggies I simply don't want to join.

Hi,
I finally got my small base all setup at the end of a canyon and then, while mining in the mountain, I discover a new area...
the now backdoor of my facility suddenly leads to a newly discovered map edge.
Will this be a problem? I mean can someone tell me if raids etc. will spawn there?! Oh god, please say no, but I got a feeling... :-[
