From a gameplay perspective... What are your feelings on it? How should it be changed (or are you happy with things as they are now)?
This came up in a conversation with a friend about shattered spines/pelvises. It's a particular brand of un-fun when a colonist lands one of these types of injuries, because it's almost worse than when they just get turned into a corpse. When they're missing a spine, YOU have to kill them, which either warrants mood debuffs or an arranged "accident". In another respect, this can also apply to brain-injured colonists who become useless cleaner-bots.
Personally, I'd like there to be the possibility of "full replacement" prosthetics, but some more complicated than the player can make. Spines and brains I understand having to trade a masterwork grand sculpture (happily) away for. Removing the injuries doesn't make sense to me, and with how storytellers use population in their code, it feels cruel to punish players for keeping their legacy colonists alive.
(Before someone mentions it, I know about the expanded prosthetics/organ engineering mod and loved it, but I think the lack of any vanilla option to deal with these injuries is an oversight.)
