Would love to buy the backstory option. I realize it's a bit of work, but the price could reflect that. I'm sure, some people who got way more out of the game than what they paid for would be interested.

You may want to blame Google for their ignorance. Your lmgtfy leads me to the Babka cake and various recipes, a social media network named BUBKA, and the Webster definition of Babkes. There are some references to the name, but it takes some digging.
Using the German regional version of Google, most results actually do refer to the name.

Appears to be fixed now. Game version still says 1.0.2551, but mod errors are gone.

It appears the experimental branch landed on the stable one in some Steam regions. Game tells me it was built today and is 1.0.2551. Some mods are broken, naturally. Reactions on the Steam forum suggest it doesn't affect everyone, so I'm guessing it's a regional distribution thing. Using beta channel 1.0 doesn't make a difference.
