I'm very likely not as proficient as you are on Arch, but have you considered trying out proprietary (HERESY) graphics drivers? I found them to deliver better performance and stability - haven't actually tried it with rimworld as I keep my Arch for work only.

I think Rimworld could possibly profit from giving the research system a facelift - more research, more clearly structured and more dependencies between technologies as well as prerequisites in order to research them.

I think one could add a concept from the old x-com games. Rather than allowing you to pursue any course of research that you like, it would actually require you to gather alien artifacts, corpses and eventually even trap aliens for subsequent interrogation - allowing you to investigate how they work (and adding a little lore as spice) while unlocking research options subsequently.

Just my 2 cents! Game is great either way.
