Ideas / Choose caravan rest time
March 30, 2022, 01:52:58 PM
Caravans are still forced to rest at night with no ability for the player to change this.  This is a very big problem when playing with the darkness meme, as your pawn's combat abilities are atrocious outdoors during daylight hours.  Any raiding or world map missions become far more difficult than they should be, as the game largely forces you to do them during daylight hours.

My suggestion to fix this is to have a toggle setting for caravans that determines at what time they rest.

  • Rest at night: Vanilla default behavior
  • Rest in the day: Inverse of default behavior, however pawns that do not have darkness nullifying benefits will cause the caravan to move slower.
  • Forced march: The caravan will only stop to rest if/when pawns are exhausted.  Penalties to movement speed at night still apply if relevant.

I don't think there is. If you just want to keep population down you can sterilise female chickens which causes them to only lay unfertilised eggs, or allow colonists to use fertilised eggs in cooking.

(I think the sterilisation is base game? I can't think of any mod I use which would be allowing for that behaviour...)
Sterilization is in the base game, but doing so is an operation that costs a unit of herbal medicine.  It's good to know that does still allow chickens to lay eggs.  So it's at least a feasible option to sterilize most of my females.

Maybe that help you ?

It doesn't look like it, as it doesn't let you filter gender for only one animal or lock specific animals to pens.

The more I look into it the more it looks like there's no way to isolate a breeding pair and I'll have to have three entirely separate animal pens to actually isolate the male and female chickens from one another.  The third animal pen being for all my other animals.

I really hope that doesn't turn out to be the only answer though.  Even if you're just confirming this is the only answer, I'd appreciate it if anyone can chime in.

General Discussion / Help with breeding pair pens
March 16, 2022, 05:34:13 PM
I'm having trouble getting my pawns to play nice with animal pens.  I'd like to have one pen that contains all my male chickens and one female one, while the other pen has all my other animals including a large number of female chickens for egg laying.

Both pens are primarily fed with kibble, though one is much bigger than the other.

Is there any way to set this up?  My pawns keep trying to move chickens around to where I don't want them.

If you receive a quest to find an artifact while your faction has no active base, then the quest will fail to properly assign an artifact.  Leaving a large number of variable names in the quest and no actual reward.

If an ideology has multiple preferred apparel items, when the game is reloaded any mood modifiers from apparel other than the first are ignored.  Taking off and putting the item back on will not fix this, only directly editing the preferred apparel in the ideology will restore the mood modifiers.

Just wondering if there's plans to release a soundtrack expansion to go with the Ideology DLC.

Bugs / [1.3.3066] Cannot feed prisoners sacred meat
July 21, 2021, 04:15:10 PM
It is impossible to get your wardens to feed prisoners sacred meat.  Even if the food is in their cells they will starve themselves before doing so.

This runs into problems with meals, as it isn't really possible to create separate meals of the same type (simple/fine) with sacred and non-sacred meat.  Your colonists will stack the safe meals with sacred ones and permanently taint them as having sacred meat in them.  This situation causes a lot of problems with the sacred meat system, as a single meal can end up permanently tainting all of a colonies meals if the stack is not completely consumed.

The only work around to feed the prisoners non-sacred raw food.
