Greetings!

I started playing the "unstable version"...... an escape pod dropped out of the sky at some point, and i could only CAPTURE the person, not RESCUE! Didnt it use to have both options? so i had to capture this person and make an extra room (prison conditions instead of just a bed / medical bed). a raider came, made him combat ineffective and had to imprison him too. so the non hostile survivor was "in restraints" in my living space basically....... i released them both after a while cause i didnt want to keep dealing with them, the cost they came with etc. i apologize if this is a useless post  :D so glad 1.0 (unstable) is out congrats!!!

i agree with the other poster saying "build your own". get a friend that knows a lot of pc´s, and have him help you build one. you buy all the pieces individually and make your very own custom pc.

its how i did it... and i made it so i only have to change video card every few years ^^

Man..... IMO..... Rimworld is one of the best games ever made!

Its been a BLAST to be part of "the making of" process
its been a BLAST watch this game "grow"
its been a BLAST waiting for new patches with new content to come out

This is Tynan´s baby, this is his (an his teams) project. we cant have ALL our wishes come true in terms of features (i always wanted something like smoke leaf in the game and got it :D )

And in the future, youll probably get any feature you wanted, in the form of a mod or something.

Excellent work, excellent game.
cant wait for that 1.0 polish update <3

so, you bought the non steam version AND the steam game ?

i ask, cause i bought the non steam version years ago, and i got a steam key BECAUSE of that.... so asking for money back would be somewhat...... weird ?

if you bought 2 versions, then i dont know!?!?
but if you bought 1 version, for which you got 2, and are now asking for a refund .....

Hello everyone!

Are there ANY news for alpha 18 ? Not as in "when", but more as in "what" !
I need my Rimworld update fix as i havent heard/read/found anything about A18 yet.
Nothing, not a clue or a hint! Does anyone know anything?

Im back :D

so, long time ago i suggested for drugs to be inserted... and it happened. i also always talked about rimworld with a friend about how cool it would be if the world was really a world where you could also travel through..... its there

so here, ill post some old and new ideas ive had for the game

"WINDOWS!!"
small and large windows... placeable like doors , into the walls. makes things look prettier, some colonists love looking outside, sunlight enters the rooms too.... ETC


"underground digging and mining
like in dwarf fortress, there´d be like a "dig up" "dig down" option.
you can dig down into a few "layers" / "planes" or "floors", which would all be dark and "undiscovered". so you dig down from the surface ONE level/layer..... once there you can MINE the ground away etc"

oh yes and "BAKING".... like, my cooks love cooking so much sometimes.... it would be awesome if we could control a bit more, what is going to be cooked.


oh if youd ever need a voice over guy for the tutorials.... i could do them in english, spanish and german. i have a very deep sounding voice and everything so.....


love this game!

My opinion: IF alpha17 (without NEW content) improves the game experience SO SIGNIFICANTLY that the difference can be noticed by all who play, the i would say "release it without new content". That way, the devs can concentrate on alpha18 with the new stuff. IF however, the changes of A17 would only be noticed by "hardcore, 23 hour a day" players, then i would say "lets wait for the new content".

HOWEVER, i still think, the devs should do it, as they see fit ^^ get opinions and all, in the end, its your baby, its your gem, its your time, your work, your devotion. And by god has rimworld been an exciting journey so far so... however you guys do it, im happy ^^

oh WINDOWS! (i know i know not the place for this) but why not add build-able windows? big ones (2 squares) and small ones (one square)! With and without metal bars (for the prisons? and those who suffer from paranoia a bit too much)? Would let in light, cool down the inside of the house in hot days? make colonists happy? some could sit on a stool, when its raining outside, watching the rain (meditating)?
love rimworld! been spreading the word in 3 languages since alpha 1 :D

Bugs / [A16] Resolution Bug

So this bug involves nothing more than the resolution changing, when loading a game.

When i start the game, the menu is in 1080 res
When i load my game, the res goes down to like a weird res in the 1500x____ area.
The UI is WAY too big when this happens, since i have it set to "a bit larger" since i play on a 55inch tv which im rather far away from.

all i have to do is go to the menu and select 1080 again

nothing game breaking at all or anything, but i thought id just mention it

Right? it shouldnt be TOO hard for Tynan and his team to implement either..... at least the first part of my idea

so picture this...

you build a colony... you thrive and you end up building a ship.
this ship has a layout similar the ones in FTL.... (or maybe it could be customizable?) with different rooms with specific functions maybe? (engine room, pilot seat etc)

with this ship you could have encounters in space , similar to the ones in FTL, but the ship would ALSO allow the player to fly to ANY place on the planet/world that was created before playing a game! you could visit any place on the map THUS be also able to visit other colonies / factions on the world. trade with the friendlies and the not so friendlies..... one could attack the pirate faction that has been a pain in the B for such a long time...... etc

then of course it would be nice to be able to visit other worlds, but here is where i think my idea goes a bit "off into the outer rim" hehe...... cause then the game would have to generate other worlds and im not too sure if that would be realistic or too "out of this world".... ha see what i did there? but indeed the worlds could look different , have different plants, biomes and animals to the ones we already know....

but yeah... as i said i cant imagine if what i speak of is even realistic, as the game itself is a lot work already i imagine. so i will never complain if these feature that i mention never get implemented of course. this is tynan´s game, and how it ends up in the end is how HE wants it to be and so it shall be :D
i would be happy with "placeable windows" and something like "space weed" too and any features they end up adding are great and awesome and im always happy when an update is released.

i simply like to dream :)

id love to be able to put windows on walls!!!
that would make colonists happy if they can look outside.
small windows, big windows..... skylights?

and something like Space weed! if we´re going to have space beer, i think we should have space weed! you know... you have to grow it OR buy it from certain people who pass by..... there is different types and their qualities can all vary, this giving different effects. relieving depression.... relieving pain (some of my colonists are in slight pain for some reason), other types could make paranoid, some colonists would love it, others would not like it...... why not?

Ideas / Building a Spaceship is NOT the end

So i kinda LOVE the idea about.....

you crash on the planet, you survive, eventually build a spaceship.... but it would be cool if it didnt end there!

what would be REALLY cool is.... if you could get in the ship with your crew (leave some back on the planet) and go exploring with the other ship. land on other parts of the "created world" and maybe fly to other created worlds! maybe have it look like FTL when traveling in the ship? Being able to land on other places of the planet and other "worlds". Cause maybe you get bored of the first colony, maybe you want to simply expand....... it would be really cool. if its to unrealistic then this post shall remain ignored :D

So I downloaded alpha 13, created a world and 3 characters that were all NOT related to each other in any way, other than that they were passengers on the ship with the tragic fate.

Introduction:
1 female surgeon "Sirin", 1 female miner and animal expert "Betty", and a male that wasent good at anything except shooting, named "Seraph".

So we started off, gathered stuff, built things etc...... the 2 girls and the dude got along brilliantly from the start, apparently the dude was mighty charming too, as the girls both liked him a lot. Not much time passed and Sirin found a dog she thought was waaaay too adorable... and apparently he liked her too because from that moment on they were inseparable. They bonded that very same day, and I made him a sleeping spot in Sirins room next to her bed. *feels*

While we were working on things one day, along came a "visitor" who joined the colony. Turns out, it was Sirins lover, "Dave" who had also been on the ship with the tragic fate!! Apparently his capsule made it out of the ship in time too, and by some miracle he survived out there in the wild AND found the colony. So of course Sirin and Dave were happy as could be, especially to be able to sleep next to each other again after having had thoughts of "having lost your lover for ever".

That very same day, we got a weak distress call from a female voice, saying she was being chased by raiders who wanted to do "bad things to her". The colonists of course had to have an argument before coming to a decision: "no, we cant take her in, its too dangerous, we barely have any food for us", "but we cant just let raiders have their way with her, look at what we´re becoming".... the typical crap, you know, but in an improvised decision, they all agreed to help the female in distress and killed her 2 attackers. She was grateful and started to help out in the colony right away. It looked like that, wherever she was from, whatever shes been through in the past, it must have been tough. She was a young, very fit girl, shaved head, lots of tatoos and scars armed only with a dagger type knife... but she was bad ass, kinda pretty and followed orders promptly as she seemed to be very thankful to have found semi civilized human beings that did NOT treat her like dirt! We threw a party the next night welcoming our now 5th member "Jane" to our group and of course the "new found lovers" couple.

Some more time passed.... a trader caravan came by one day, and we went along and bought a cat, "Valentina"! Gorgeous little thing, blue eyes, gray fur.. it immediately started rubbing herself on everyones legs! One day, Dave (the surgeons lover) decided to go hunting for some deer, as there were.... probably 20-25 of them not too far from home.... so he goes... takes his awful 9mm gun, stands 70 feet away from them and starts "a blazin". Instead of hitting only the 2 deer designated as "to be hunted", he hits every piece of grass, tree, squirrel, turtle in his viewing direction, and he also hits all the deer except the 2 designated as "to be hunted". So the deer get pissed at some point and it sets them off on a stampede of rage and destruction. Dave and other colonists outside, fled inside and tried shooting the deer from the entrance, the 2 working turrets did their best to fight off the deer but there we simply too many. The stampede broke off into many pieces too, so we had one part attacking the colonists at the door, other part attacking mainly just one of the two turrets, and in the middle of all this chaos a large part of the stampede gets to my cat Valentina out in the field and "hoof" her nearly to death..... it was too dangerous for anyone to go out and rescue the cat, and again this situation prompted another argument among the colonists "its just a stupid cat, let it die, dont risk one of us for a cat" "but we cant just leave it out there, look at what we´re becoming"... the usual crap, you know, so while the colonists are fighting off some deer while arguing about what to do with the unconscious dying cat a few dozen feet away from them.... Sirins dog gets up, runs out of the building, picks up the cat and brings her home to safety! im behind the screen "go DOGGY GO DOGGY YO CAN DO IT PUP"! AND the dog took the cat to the dogs sleeping spot so the cat could rest and heal....... *feeeeels*

so, outside, there were some dead and some unconscious deer, but the ones still alive were still fighting one of the two turrets outside, which at some point started to sparkle and throw little bolts of lightning and eventually exploded, killing a lot of the deer surrounding it. The rest of them were killed by the colonists with rifles and guns. So yeah, that night, we had a deer bbq, deer kebab, deer stew, deer beer, deer soup, fried deer, stir fried deer, deer fries, deer cake, deer pie, deer punch, deer cookies, deer milk......... and deer was on the menu for the few weeks too :D

oh and YES, the cat survived in the end! doesnt even have a scar, lil tough guy. even surrounded by 7-8 deer, it fought back! even though she had not a chance, she went down fighting like a pro, like a champ! the cat and the dog are now friends by the way (not bonded in game unfortunately) and the cat now has a sleeping spot in Sirins and Daves room, next to where the dog sleeps :D   *feeeeeeeeeeeels*

so..... 5 colonists: Seraph the charming shooter guy, Jane the badass no hair chick, Sirin the surgeon and her lover Dave who is just a douche bag, Betty the miner and animal expert, 1 cat, 1 dog... all living together.

one day, 2 dromedaries (the camel like animals but with only one hump) came by the colony and obviously felt comfy with us because they never left the area again. After a few days we felt bad watching them sleep outside, especially when it rained... so we built them a "barn" type building, with a little roof and 2 beds to sleep in! They felt right at home and made the sleeping spots their own in no time. Betty the miner, who is also an animal expert, eventually bonded with one of them, giving him the name "Giggles".

One evening, Dave and Betty were spending some time alone in the kitchen and were having some beers ... and a "too good of a talk"! That good talk turned to a flirt, that flirt turned to a whole lot more that night! So Dave went and cheated on Sirin! So now Sirin was heart broken and angry as hell, and Dave and Betty were a happy couple. But Sirin put up her strong side, and acted like if it wasent that big of a deal and accepted the situation rather quickly. "Hey at least i have Valentina and Spock, the cat and the dog", she jokingly said ... they always cheered her up. But after that they never really talked about this again. (It was also AWESOME to see..... normally colonists have like "chit chats" and "good conversations" , but after Sirin broke up with Dave, Jane and Seraph would cheer her up by having not just chit chats, but instead "deep conversation" with Sirin .... which i just find way too cool)

Some more time passed, the building(s) grew, the kitchen was expanded, a hospital was built.......

One day, Dave got sick! He secretly went to Sirin, as shes the Doctor in the house AND his Ex, so they know each other well, and he told her that he was having health issues that were getting worse by the day. The first thing SHE said was a snarly "HA, serves you right" comment but quickly started to realize the severity of his situation. Even though she was still angry and pissed at him for the betrayal deep inside, the surgeon did everything in her power to diagnose, treat him and his disease which was gonna cost a lot of valuable medicine during a long period of time. Dave asked Sirin to keep this all a secret, especially NOT to tell Betty. Despite of him being treated for weeks, his condition kept getting worse.... and worse.... Betty didnt know any of this, she thought he only had a "cold" or something... something that would pass eventually.... but Sirin, the surgeon, the EX.... at some point she knew that there was nothing that could be done to save him anymore!..... his autoimmune system was too weak due to the treatment for his disease and this lead to him getting a new, more sever illness..... and in his condition this meant his body would not be able to fight it off anymore.... so even in a super lab of a hospital with the best equipment and medicine, Dave was going to die.

One night, when everyone was asleep, Dave and Sirin were alone in the hospital room doing the secretive treatment. Dave, in a short bonding moment apologized to Sirin for being a douche bag.... however confessed that indeed he loved Betty more because she was quote "hotter and younger than you" and that his heart indeed belonged to Betty. After a while he started begging Sirin to end his life and with it his suffering. After a bit of arguing "no i cant" "yes you can, you must", the usual crap, you know, after some hesitation and a lot of crying she started to overdose him on anesthetics, making him fall asleep..... eventually stopping his heart. This is where Sirins mind went "Snap"! This is where all of it, became to much for her! In a psychotic yet ultra calm state, Sirin then took a scalpel, cut Dave open and surgically removed his heart! She grabbed it in her hand and walked out the room, leaving Dave behind on one of the beds with a huge nasty open wound in his chest. With her eyes swollen, her face red and wet with tears, her hands bloody, holding the blood dripping heart of her cheating ex boyfriend, Sirin slowly walked across the dark building, through the dark corridors through the dark rooms, eventually reaching Betty and Daves door... which she slowly opened. Betty was asleep. The room was dark and quiet. Sirin suddenly jumped on Betty, knees first, violently waking her up and hurting her, locking Betty between her legs making her unable to move her arms. Sirin then started to hit Betty in the face.... with Daves heart..... squeezing remaining pools of blood still inside it, spritzing it all over the place, the walls the bed sheets.... Sirin yeld insults at her, blaming her for the break up, blaming her even for things like the thunderstorms that burned the crops, babbling gibberish and illogical hateful rants at Betty. For so long Sirin kept quiet, for so long she "played along", for so long she played it cool... but now, tonight, all the rage was came out at once. Betty, covered in Daves blood, was totally defenseless. At some point Sirin stopped hitting her, instead tried stuffing what was left of Daves heart down Bettys mouth and in her throat, making it hard for her to breath! In that moment the light turned on! It was Seraph and Jane! "SIRIN what tha hell are you doing" Seraph yelled, pulling Sirin off of the bed and off Betty, slamming Sirin on to the side of the room. Betty sat upright and started coughing out pieces of something that tasted too much like blood... not realizing at all what was in her mouth. Sirin was getting up by the wall looking like a total psycho maniac, smearing the wall with blood from her hands as she helped herself back on to her feet..... she screamed "HE WANTS YOU TO HAVE IT.... HE WANTS YOUUU TOO HAVE!!!" and stormed out of the room. Meanwhile Betty has had a look at what shes coughing and spitting out of her mouth.. she started to realize what it was, what it could be, but she couldnt believe it yet... she was in a state of shock and couldnt grasp the reality of the situation let alone understand why Sirin would do something like this...... Seraph also started to realize that this was a human heart.... and he suddendly softly said "my god... its Daves heart" making Jane go "uughh" as she covered her mouth. Betty looked at Seraph with kind of a dumb look, covered in blood and bruises! She suddenly vomited and passed out.

At this point I realize, Im in my living room, Ive been playing for like 7 hours straight, on my first alpha13 run. The sun is almost up, the birds are singing and im thankful that i dont have to work today.

im telling you..... ALPHA 13 IS THE BOMB!!!!!

There is a now LICENSE AGREEMENT, or EULA file along with the game! i for one, have read it *shine with smugness* and indeed, you CANT give copies of the alpha to friends. they will have to purchase it themselves!
