I have 8 colonists in my current game, and the tactical situation is getting more complex.  Here's how I handled it:

1>  No turrets.  This has been documented elsewhere in this thread.
2>  Research blasting charges as soon as you can.
3>  Have a corner at the entrance to your base.
4>  When raiders come, draft all your colonists, put them behind the corner.  They have to be 2 or more squares back of the corner, otherwise the raiders can squeeze the angle.
5>  The raiders will buzz into your base, where you can shoot them or melee them (depending on weapons available), and hopefully be successful.
6>  As raiders get more numerous, plant blasting charges on their expected paths (you have to do this BEFORE they land, or they'll spot you) and blow them up as they approach.

It's a bit cheesy, but it works for me.  Now that I can play Chill using this method, I'm going to try Cassandra with this plan, see how it goes.

Oh, duh, that's it.  I didn't realize lamps use 150w.  Now the lack of power makes sense.  I don't agree that 150 is a good value for lamps, but that's for Tynan to decide.

Support / Incapacitated settler reserves weapon

I had a colony under attack by raiders.  It was 6 on 6, but I was losing because I didn't manage my defenses well.  I got to the point where I had 3 raiders and 2 settlers left.  The settlers were meleeing a raider, and thus were on the same location.  The raider defeated one of the settlers, then was defeated by the remaining settler.  This left a gun on the ground.  I clicked the square that had both settlers, then clicked 'Pick up Pistol' (or whatever the menu option is).  This reserved the pistol...for the incapacitated guy.  I couldn't figure out how to fix my mistake.  Seems like there should be a check for incapacity on weapon retrieval like there is for movement.

No, I didn't.  And now the colony was destroyed by raiders, having never solved their electrical problems.  Alas.  I should have saved.  I'll try and duplicate the situation next world.

I've linked below an image of my current base.  You'll notice that I have a geothermal power plant, power output 4000W, Connected rate: 50W.  For some reason, several lamps (crudely circled) are not getting power, despite being linked to the power conduit grid.  Anyone have any thoughts?
