I am running a clean game no mods installed
I have 3 pets
I have 8 colonists
I am playing on the normal map size

my game has become unplayble , the FPS drop is so bad that when I go to speed 3 I get around 3 - 9 fps on speed 1 the game runs fine again , any idea on how to speed it up ?

I am running a I7 cpu, 8 gb memory in duel channel and a ATI 390x

some basics:

I enjoy playing games and exploring new things :) but spend way to much time playing games and messing around with new tech and programing , also enjoy playing rugby and other sports such as paintball le pew pew for the win , I currently live in South Africa , though travel around the globe when ever its needed for work and visiting friends :) my current job description is Biometrics developer aka I develop and work with fingerprint units that clients use in security and time and attendance , and a bit of web site development on the side and rebuilding Bikes xD ok that should do for the intro .

I ended up at RimWorld by visiting a friend and he had the game I had a look at it and played it a bit and well now I am stuck here helping with a bit of translating and such all in all happy to be around .

I enjoyed the X series of games loved the X3 : terran conflict , rebirth was a waist sigh .

Most embarrassing gaming-related story? I use to play competitive gaming in CS ( counter strike) after playing for about 4 days with no sleep I ended up using my hot dog as a mouse and screaming over the mic that my PC is haunted with a daemon from the local supermarket , aaa fun times .

Cereal hmmm I like all kinds :) though toast will do just fine as well :D

How about a special door or more different doors to offer more functions such as :

reinforced door - strong door great for keeping things out or in , takes much longer to break down , great for defense against attackers .

cheap door - easy to craft and easy to break

access door - door that only allows selected colonists inside

prison door - door made from plasteel and metal , needs power to open and electrocutes prisoners that attack it .

glass door - add to the good looking for colonists , different colors perhaps

security door - door with windows to shoot from

trap door - door that looks like a wall , player must click to open it , serves as escape root for colonists when under attack .

fire proof door - door that withstands fire much better .

lamp door - door that gives off light

visitors door - door at base entrance where visitors gather , visitors must be greeted to allow them to walk around your base .

ignore door - colonists will ignore door , unless specific conditions are met example close fire will open door

just to name a few , please do not burn me at the stake ...

fire stopped after about 10 more min dry thunder storms keep that in mind :) everyone died though even the visitors haha pretty dam awesome :D

Finally saved up the stone needed to build my empire , got the walls going and the floor , popped the game on full speed and went of to make some coffee , arrived back and found a little something extra , any advise ?

hi all

I had a idea that since we can buy the extremely expensive AI core things that perhaps limiting them to use on your space ship would be a little limiting to what it could be used for .

How about using it for instance to manage your trade with passing ships , so that you can integrate it into your coms station and set it to buy and sell things , or even integrate it into your farming so that it can manage your food and such hell since it is a AI the possibilities should be fun .

was just a thought though :)

as well to add to the AI idea here is what Omenpapa posted (https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=7022.msg69745;boardseen#new)

"What would be really interesting if instead of reallocating our current colony to another place, we could morph our colony to be AI controlled with a couple of options based on the colony's history and a couple player decisions. Basicly after we reach the winning state(x amount of wealth/a built spaceship/target colonist size/X amount of enslaved visitor or whatever), the game would offer us a choice to "make history" by changing our colony to be a "permanent" AI controlled one. Obviously we wont be able to play it anymore, and it should automatically delete all the saves too, but then we could alter the future of this planet.

We could set things like if we wanna be friendly or hostile to different type of colonies made by us in the future, a couple traits like "we will be always hostile to any colony who don't pay our taxes or who has a certain technology level or a certain size etc"

or we love nature and destroy all colonies who dare to hunt the peacefull animals...

or we are crazy and beleive in our mad god, who's enemy wears blue color, thus if u build anything with a blue color, we r gonna hunt u down..

These extra options would require certain things what we already reached during our playtime with that colony. It wouldnt make too much sense to just let a totally peacefull colony switch to a cannibal pirate gang as an endgame option...

I think having a couple self made colonies like that would add a lot of fun and depth to the game. Just imagine the "nostalgic" feeling when we get visitors from "our" old colony, then remember the big fight where this amazing survivor lost both legs and we had to replace them with robot legs..."

hope some one else finds this interesting :)

well that's a great idea :) no problem taking over my posted thingy I do not mind , the idea seems great since you can buy all the AI core stuff and only use them on you space ship seems that perhaps AI should be used i more then just that , perhaps even integrating a AI into your trade system to allow it to buy things and sells thing according to the users parameters , that I would like to use the AI for , since you can build a trade place and all why not be ale to set it up to do tasks for you .
