Why is it that burning corpses heat a room so efficiently but if I make a small room filled with heaters (set to max)  it caps out at like 100°c?

It's also a time saver when you don't have many colonists (like at the start). There is no time lost with a colonist dedicated to cooking meals. Paste is ready to go at any time with a push of a button! Your would be chef can do other things like tend to the wounded or build that solar farm you need so badly.

It would be amusing if you could use them to fix brain damaged colonists. Maybe they could take on the mannerisms of the brains original owner and became more robot like. Become drone like workers with little emotion.

A cool event could have your brain replaced colonist go haywire/berserk. Or a crashed ship part could 'reprogram' them :D

Im not sure I'm doing this right but I just stop stock piling silver and uranium and all the other goodies that fall out of the sky. I leave them Forbidden until im ready to use them (Or stock pile it in a convenient spot, forbid them and then delete the stock pile).

Also, you'll notice everything has a dollar value on the info page. I once was excited at a new colony I started when I found myself next to a huge vein of Plastisteel. Yeah, mining that early was a big mistake. My 3 colonists were squashed by the huge raid that showed up after stock piling all that ore.

Ideas / Re: UI Text Colour Change

I totally agree. I didnt see this earlier and ended up posting my own topic. But yeah, reading white text on top of white snow is pretty difficult.

Ideas / UI Elements Unreadable Over Snow
December 18, 2014, 06:20:59 PM
Could you find a way to make the UI text more legible over snow? Things like the tile information where it says if it's roofed, walk speed, temperature, etc. It's almost impossible to read it if the text is over a snowy tile.

Also the right click menu. When there are greyed out options it's also very hard to read them.

It would be neat to have some sort of Nanobot injection as a surgical option that would boost colonists resiliency vs Infections and Diseases. Maybe an item you could purchase from an exotic trader much like the neural trainers.

General Discussion / Prisoners not considered hostile?
December 11, 2014, 03:35:39 PM
Was something changed in this build regarding rampaging prisoners? I keep an auto turret in my prisons to deal with riots but lately they no longer seem to auto-target berserk inmates. Also, I can draft my colonists and only the guy getting punched in the face by a berserk prisoner will fight back.

1) How do you play the game? As a colony sim or survival/escape sim.
I mostly only play on Randy Random because I enjoy the Colony Sim style of play. What drew me to this game was it's similarity to Dwarf Fortress. I just like the setting (space/future) much better.

2) Have you built an escape ship and did you feel it was an accomplishment?
I've only ever launched the ship once out of many games I've played. Sometimes I build it as an option of last resort so my colonists can escape when everything is falling apart but I like to see how long I can last and how big I can grow my colony.

3) Do you refer colonists or survivors? (I know some people call them other things but of the two which would you use as a generic term for the people who come out of your escape pods)
Colonists; they are building a new home. It even says 'Colony' faction on their name plates, the debuff says 'Colonist left unburied', etc. It just seems really obvious.

4) Throw out any other thoughts and observations here.
I feel like you have two specific modes of play. Honestly you could just rename Cassandra to 'Ellie Escape' and Randy to 'Sammy Survival' (or something like that)

General Discussion / Re: Full list of bionics

If you have a melee weapon and a bionic arm (or claw or knife) how does the game assess damage? I've seen weird stuff on the health entries.

Also, what happens if you have TWO bionic claws. Can you use both in combat or is that basically a waste of money? Pretty sure dual wielding isn't implemented in this game?

Maybe fire extinguishers could be a weapon you equip on your colonist. They could use it to 'attack' a fire or bludgeon raiders.

I've noticed that some of the organ destruction in A6 doesnt seem to do anything yet. I've had several colonists with blown off jaws or destroyed stomachs. Even though it lists "Eating" as "None" they still don't starve to death.

Ideas / Equipment Tab on Overview window
September 16, 2014, 12:26:51 PM
Could we get a tab that shows what colonists have equipped? It can be frustrating clicking through every colonist to ensure they have weapons and armor. I can't count how many times I've sent a hunt target and John Rambo goes over to punch the muffalo to death. It doesn't end well.

I think it would be awesome to have the ability to mark blue prints and constructions as forbidden. The planning squares are nice but I've found I haven't quite memorized the sizes of all structures in the game. Being able to plan out a building without having to pause everything would be fantastic.

Also, maybe you've just suffered a huge disaster. You could mark blueprints or constructions currently in progress as forbidden so that more important tasks can be dealt with beforehand. Then you don't have to cancel half completed structures or keep micromanaging your units away from them.

The ability to forbid things from interaction. For example, a lot of structures deteriorate over time but often I'll colonists running of to repair them when I would rather have a million other things done. Could you let us say... forbid chunks of a wall? They would be ignored and wouldn't get repaired until the forbidden flag is removed.
