General Discussion / Re: Cost effective defense?
January 06, 2017, 07:19:00 PM
If you have a few survival rifles then I'd suggest setting up large growing zones from your defenses to about 16-18 spaces from your base as a effective no mans land. it'll mean your guys will get hit but, you'll knock over most guys in less shots with a decently skilled colonist.
You could build up your food reserves and move if you have a hard time and are playing alpha 16.

if trees annoy you why not set the area to grow cold resistant wild flowers or even food crops?

2 colonists were sleeping in the animal freezer. I'm like "oh, time to make a bed, I've got enough wood to build a double beds and a few short bows" next moment "Kate and Jess have become lovers" guess I should've build just one bed then :P

+1 tribal beasts, Could even add it as a separate tribal event like the Raiders who use advanced or clever tactics.

seems like the orassans enclave doesn't have any settlements in the new a16 world. will there be a new addition to the mod regarding the base design of orassan in the future? that would be great!

You can spawn them in as a known faction if you really want them however, be prepared as Orassan are of a greater technological level then even the Blood Talons Mercenaries (of the Talons mod)

there is a wooly rhino in Taiga Creatures mod, which you could ask and then borrow?

perhaps even checkout alpha muffalos mod and possibly that log walls mod from alpha 4.

theres also a campfire mod which adds a group joy event though, no idea what the mod was called.

@Ms Winters.

I'm wondering what type of traders an Orassan enclave sends as I've yet to see one.
Is there any chance/way to make them glitterworld tech and/or human slave traders?
Perhaps it is too early though, have you found any issues with using the current Orassans mod with A16 testing, as personally I've not engaged with test and would rather enjoy playing orassans with the next alpha, stable but, still full of surprises.

Also to much regret I am sorry about Maria . I got baited and it shan't happen again.

Love Mr Biology.

P.S.
a private link to episode 31 Maria of my current Letsplay.

Double peg leg colonist fleeing and then death by meerkat horde after I didn't want to hunt them because I thought they looked nice (meerkat mod https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=27782.0)

Painful (only human colonist in a orassan colony) getting upset every day for two seasons only for me to realise that I've force them to sleep in a -10C room every night.

It doesn't matter how long the event is now anyways, you cannot wall them in. If animals have their path to map edge blocked, they will break down walls to get a clear path.
not so in alpha 14, I could create a 5x5 poplar tree zone around them and they'd be either happly  tamed or slowly starving.
