Mods / [Mod Request] Hitchhiker's Guide Mod Request

I think a Hitchhiker's Guide Mod would be a fun story mod. Call it Mostly Harmless.

Start with adding all the species, fauna and flora and bios from the books. Maybe some of the weapons, droids and artifacts can be items.  Make some events that are like or similar to the books. Maybe some of the power sources are based on the spaceships in the book. So when powering on a Infinite Improbability Generator everyone turns in to orbital beacons, whale and flower pot falls out of the sky and it's last social says "Not again".

Perhaps one start is nothing but people from the Ark Fleet so they are all telephone cleaners, account executives, hairdressers and such.

Or maybe is a Ford and Arthur start. Be sure they have towels.

Towel could be a weapon or shield and food.

Babel fish could improve trade or allow you to trade with certain traders.

Just some ideas.

Twitch Integration so chat can vote on the next event. A number of events are randomly queued for chat to vote on.

Ideas / Caravan Relationship Event

I often get a caravan come to a colony and it will have someone related to a colonist. (Relationship)

I think it would be a neat little story if one of a few things happened.
1. That related person tries to join the colony, reducing relations or making the caravan attack.
2. The related colonist tries to leave with the caravan. Forcing an arrest to keep them and/or reducing relations or making the caravan attack.
3. Caravan offers the related colonist for trade for one of yours. Different from standard trade an event that randomly happens.  "You can have Joe's mom, Sandy, but we need someone in exchange."

I really like the Bees 'n' Honey mod. I have some ideas for it and made some graphics for fun.   
The current system of pulling bees from trees is great. I also like the boxes, honey, flower system and mead. Perhaps vegetables could have a boost if in the hive zone. Ability to reinstall hives. Uninstalled hives slowly use honey until it hits 0 and then the hive health declines.

Additional garden hive boxes could be built or upgraded. These can have a beauty value. I used the hive boxes from the mod and then added to them.

Level 1 - Can produce 10 frames of honey
Level 2 - Can Produce 20 Frames of honey and 1 new queen a year.
Level 3 - Can produce 30 frames of honey and 2 new queens a year.

Frames of Honey can be to be spun in an extractor to get extra honey but no wax or a butcher's table bill can extract honey for less honey but wax too.


Honey Extractor allows a bill to extract honey but produces no wax.


Wax can be use to make candles or combines with healroot to make medicine.

I updated the mead bottle because I put my mead in clear bottles IRL and it doesn't look like beer bottles that way.


Pulling frames for the boxes requires a beekeeper's suit or pawns take damage. This could allow for Bee allergy health condition.
Bee allergy(low) = Pain 15%
Bee Allergy(Medium) = 15% Pain, -10% Breathing.
Bee Allergy(High) = 20% Pain, -70% Breathing

Here are my ideas for the mod as a beekeeper IRL.


  • Honey Bees have a chance of starting out naturally on the map in subtropical to tropical areas. Maybe a new tree graphic with a hole in it.
  • Bees look like a shifting ball or mass at the hive and look like seeds particles elsewhere on the map.
  • Colonist can build hive boxes
  • Colonist can make Vail and coat for handling bees.
  • Colonist can capture bees and place them in hive boxes. This would be like taming
  • Colonist can harvest honey
  • Bees Produce Honey, this is a percentage like milk animals. It can be in the hive boxes or in the tree.
  • Harvesting from tree takes a chance of attack.
  • Honey can be similar to buckets of milk ,gluttonous food, can can be use in meals and to brew mead.
  • Above 50°F they forge and do normal bee things
  • 45°F to 0°F they stay in their hive boxes but the honey percentage in the hive starts to decline. When it hits zero hive health starts to decline.
  • -1°F and below hive health declines and fails when health is a zero
  • Flowers and vegetables increase speed of honey production.
  • Hives on fire drives the bees out of hive and they become "wild" again.
  • Like all animals bees have chance of becoming manhunters.
  • Bees swarm(positive term meaning splitting to make another hive not attacking) in the spring. They will go to a tree if there is no empty hive nearby.
  • Bees can be purchased from traders.
  • Bees can be stored inside if there is food.
Ideas that would be neat but make it more complicated

  • Bees have a defined distance they will fly.
  • Bees increase the speed of vegetable growth.(Doesn't work that way IRL)
  • Colonist can have an Allergy to bees.
  • Wax amount is tracked in %.
  • Wax can be harvested when manually right clicked, otherwise they will only harvest honey.
  • Remaining Honey is harvested when wax is harvested with 10% buff in honey harvested.
  • Harvesting wax stops honey production until wax is back at 100%.
  • Harvesting wax allows for candles to be crafted or mixed with healroot to make a slightly better medicine.
