Okay, so, from the looks of the log file, the saved colonies you are attempting to load are originally from the Alpha 14 release of RimWorld, is that correct?

If so, unfortunately, Alpha 14 and 15 saves are not compatible with the Alpha 16 release.

As for the reason why you cannot start a new colony, I an unsure as to the exact cause.
My best guess would be that you either have an extra copy of some or all of the "Core" files, or that you have a mod installed that is incompatible with Alpha 16.

If an installed mod is the cause, disabling all mods, (except Core,) restarting RimWorld, and then attempting to start a new colony should resolve the issue.

On the other hand, fixing the game with a damaged, duplicate, or missing "Core" files folder would involve:
Disabling all mods. (Except Core!)
Uninstalling RimWorld.
Installing RimWorld again.

Unfortunately, I am unable to provide further assistance in this area, as I do not have that much experience with these types of issues.

If you wish, you can wait for another person to provide an alternative to my suggestions, as there may be other alternatives to try first.
Best of luck to you.
Thanks a lot for the help! :D the strange thing is my colonys are A16 and when i look at the save list it says its a good version, so i will try disabling all my mods ive downloaded and starting a new colony, and seeing if after that i can turn said mods back on and try the saves again

QuoteLog File
Posting a log file means uploading the log RimWorld generated. Here's where to find it:
Windows (Steam): C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\RimWorld\RimWorldWin_Data\output_log.txt
Windows (non-Steam) has TWO possible locations:
RimWorld####Win\RimWorld####Win_Data\output_log.txt
%userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Ludeon Studios\RimWorld by Ludeon Studios\output_log.txt
Mac (Steam): Users/<UserName>/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log
Mac (non-Steam): /Users/[your user name]/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log
Linux (Steam): /home/<UserName>/.config/unity3d/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld/Player.log
Note: You must run RimWorld from the console or the log file will not be created.  If you don't run RimWorld from the console, you may find the log at /tmp/rimworld_log
Linux (non-Steam): /home/[your user name]/.config/unity3d/Ludeon Studios/RimWorld/Player.log

Once a log file is provided, someone here may be able to assist you.

Support / Game not loading saves or generating new ones
January 31, 2017, 07:37:35 PM
I do use mods but I have tried moving out any mods that could cause any issues (ones altering tiles on the world map and such) and have had no luck. Even if I try to load the game with no mod changes it just gives me an error message. I have also tried creating a new game but after I hit generate World it sits there for a moment then just sends me back to the screen where I can choose how cold/warm and how rainy I want it to be. I have checked the integrity of the game files through steam and there were no issues there. If you need me to pull up any logs just tell me where to find them and I will

Random doors of mine will have the "hold door" box toggled and will stay open, often letting the coolers waste power when all the cold air just gets out. Anything i can do to keep the doors from randomly turning on the hold open button when i dont want them to?

Anyone know how to change how much of the world shows up in the world tab after you start a colony?

They have just randomly spawned where they shouldn't... Only the top right one is under an overhead mountain as well as the bottom one is on what originally was dirt. Although the top right one looks like its under a mountain as well it is not

What RimWorld needs is for colonists to be able to get a lazy eye, that way they can do this.

Or just get a debuff from not seeing straight with both eyes and make conversations awkward, either works :D

Ideas / Easier mod load!
November 14, 2016, 06:59:22 PM
So i have heavily modded my game and every now and then the game will continuously crash when i launch it, requiring that i go in and delete the mod config folder so none load at launch... the problem i have is having to try and re-order 20+ mods by clicking load saves, read 2 or 3 at a time, then put them back in order in a painstakingly slow way. What would be nice is an option for the game to rearrange the mods to the previous order to make loading games much easier when that happens, or if you use different mods for different saves, or have possibly different saves of the mod config that you can choose

Once i had a colonist have the roof of a mountain collapse on them because i accidentally marked one to many rows of rock to be mined. They walked away with a few bruises giving no shits about how a mountain collapsed on their head, but they then later complained because the scar they had was hurting

i like the idea but for me i use clothes to keep my colonists warm instead of building either heaters for each room or building a lot in one room with vents to every one (to much material cost when its easier to have them wear a coat) and i also have a friend who wears a jacket (and shorts since he doesn't own pants, nor feels the need to get a pair) year round. hes an indoor person but in Arizona it still gets warm inside (110+ degree weather in the summer, or about 43.3 degrees Celsius)

Well glad to see everyone's colonies are doing well. Recently Snivy's Banthos had a faction leader with Alzheimer's join the colony. Several times hes gotten confused for a day to two days wandering around and getting hungry. He also doesnt get mood debuffs (or sadly bonuses) from most things and his only complaint is being cold at night. Suppose its a good thing since i wont have to worry about him breaking. Though its annoying and funny at the same time when he gets confused

since hes old and has a beard i might change his name to gandolf since he recreates this scene quite a bit

just the way it is on the rimworld. you start rooting for the colony for it to get thrown on its knees and face plant in the mud :D
