Hi, I want to buy Rimworld, and with the coming Steam release I wanted to know if a GoG release was planned at some point. I tried to have a look on google, but I didn't found anything, I'm sorry if it was asked and answered.
Indeed, a GoG.com - Release would be cool. I think I would actually buy it again just to have it accessible via the Galaxy Client.

It just means you need to be smarter about your defences.

I don't want to be smarter about my defences because the combat system really annoys me.
I already play on Phoebe Base-builder because of that, and that's more than enough combat for me.

adjust amount of daylight based on location on planet /time of year.
perhaps adjusting daylight on planet gen too (year/season length???)
worlds with multiple stars/moons.
Based on location is a good idea.

I don't see that as an unnecessary complexit but as an addition to the experience.
Sure, a simple "repair to 100%" function works as well (and it works a lot better than a function where the item durability is decreased with each repair alone - those are annoying), and I won't complain when it implemented like that.

Bottom line: I think we can agree that we definitely need a "repair weapon" bill for the smithing table.

The distinction between "maintenance" and "restore" imply an unnecessary complexity.
I see no harm in doing so. Two different bills on the smithing table. Nothing too complex.
A specific item is indeed impossible to select, but the detail slider could be modified with little work the narrow it down so that the "legendary" item is the most likely one to be worked on.

Does anyone has some goods for trading besides ones from raiders and mechanoids?
I usually go for art and devilstrand clothes. They get really expensive if the quality is high enough and are made with little effort.

But I think they have gone too far the other way...

I don't think so.
I would not want to wear _anything_ left over of a raiding party on my colony.
Waaaay to many bullet holes and soaked in blood...
Most of my people run around in Devilstring(?) clothes made at the tailor bench. And they make a decent merchandise, too.

QuoteI don't understand the hate for the turrets. If they are in the game, use them. I've never heard Tynan  state that the turret design is not balanced atm.
Absolutely true.
You never heard that because the design is balanced the way the game is designed atm.

Well I was thinking along the line of splitting 'meditate' and 'praying' between non spiritual and spiritual colonists.
Have them achieve the same thing, but though different means. Maybe even a few others, like.. only brawlers will 'shadow box' and you can build a punching bag to buff it, trigger-happy guys will 'plink at stuff' [...]
Basically trait specific 'joy' stuff that they will do on their own, but if you build them a room for it they will use that instead and get better results.

Now I get it. Yes, that's the way. To "split" between meditation and praying / non-spiritual and spritual / different joys based on traits.
That is a very, very cool idea. Would a so much personality to the colonist.
I really like it.

I'm a convinced atheist but I think the "praying" joy activity is an important one. Not all of the colonist pray, just like in real life. And some people find comfort in faith. So should your colonist.

I like Mikhail Reign's idea of an additional "spiritual" trait. Those colonist should get a benefit it there is a "shrine" or "temple" area in the colony.
I'm not sure if the praying should be tied to that trait, though.

Quote from: Rahjital on April 28, 2015, 11:50:45 AMThe game needs to choose - either emphasize dynamic and tactical fighting instead of digging in, or expand the fortification building element.
Honestly, I don't want a tactical combat simulator. Already enough of that genre out there...
Or if the AI is improved to a tactial combar sim level, be able to customize the capabilities of the AI.

Myself I would like to repair object with no loss in quality.

It's already so damn hard to HAVE any quality or say, A GUN (outside farming raider) that using 50 of steel or 20 of plasteel to repair those would be more than acceptable.
That's why I came up with the two-fold process of maintaining and restoring. So you can "quick and dirty" fix your weapon if it's a cheap one and if you capture a legendary one you can restore it to almost mint quality. For a price (resources and timewise) of course. :)
