Ideas / Re: Frequent Suggestions Topic!

I know something that annoys me is a thunder storm and if i live in a forest type biome allllll the trees will burn down and the rain will stop the fire spread none what so ever, so it'll be interesting to either buff the rain or make it where you get visitors that are somewhat like fire men and they'll put out the fire. I only suggest this because the massive fire make me lag and your colonist have to constantly stop to put out the fire and if you go on a massive fire puttin out spree your people will get tired, hungry, and annoyed.

It doesn't sound like you're using the latest version. Rain not putting fires out has been fixed.

Ideas / Re: Invalid wheelchairs.

Hehe, way back when I used to play Call of Cthulu, my most fun character ever was a Tibetan policeman who ended up crippled and mad in a wheelchair. He met his end when the party strapped dynamite to him and the chair, gave him a tommy gun, and rolled him down a hill into a cult meeting.

RimWorld seems to have the same ambience for me, as CoC or Paranoia. Good times.

General Discussion / Re: How to find traded goods

Trade goods always drop outside, there doesn't necessarily need to be a stockpile there. Have a look on the ground outside your gates.

Ice slows speed, not make you faster.  Hard to walk and turn on ice.
True, except when you slide/skate. The only thing that interests me about ice is the thought of watching my peg-leggers sliding across the map before slamming into a cliff.  ;D

Copper:
- I don't see what this can be used for, except for conducts and art? If in real life a weapon would be made out of it, it would bend after you hit it a few times...
On the contrary, copper weapons replaced stone armaments before the use of Iron. Have a google for Copper Weapons History and you'll see clubs, maces, axes, arrowheads, spearheads, daggers, dirks, gladii, khopesh swords and more. Sure, copper isn't as strong as steel, but it's a lot more useful and durable than flint, and in the duel of flesh and cloth versus pointy copper, I know who I'd be betting on.

Bricks:
- Isn't this kind of the same as the different kinds of stone in the game? Or do people really want to see the orangy-reddish bricks like in Minecraft?
No, it's not the same. Bricks would be available in biomes without large amounts of stone. Use of bricks goes back 10,000 years, with those earliest versions being made from mud that is shaped then dried in the sun. I would hazard a guess that more buildings throughout history have been made with bricks of various types than have been made from any form of cut stone blocks.

Hemp:
- Is it that much different from cotton? Or do people really want to see their colonists high?
Well, hemp does have more than one use, unlike cotton. It's also a hardier and less demanding plant. Cotton production uses a disproportional percentage of fertilizer, herbicides, and pesticides. What's more, cotton needs a long frost-free growing season, whereas hemp has been found to grow almost anywhere.

Bears:
- Bears are cool, but I feel like the game will have to many kinds of leather? Maybe categorize leather by color or type of animal?
Colour would be a problem for categorising PANDAS! Perhaps, animal skins should simply be categorised as either Leather or Fur. Fur could be used to make higher value warm-weather clothing, Leather for more durable stuff. So, muffalo and bears would be fur, boar and deer would be leather. You could even make it so that it takes higher butchery skills to get fur than it does to get leather.

For example Tynan can't add whole universe to the Rimworld, because computers just don't have so good hard drives ;D

Ideas / Re: Crematoriums
May 30, 2015, 04:15:29 PM
I find it bizarre that we build crematoria in any case; it seems so specific and unwieldy. I would rather that it be renamed to 'Furnace' and make the base version a wood-burning affair. You could run it on a low-fuel setting for heat, and ramp it up for cremations. Later, you should research smelting to be able to turn it into an electric furnace/smelter. Then we can do away with the smelter entirely and all of the cremation, trash disposal, and smelting can go on in the Furnace Room.

However, this suggestion topic appears to just be spam, so it might just get deleted instead.

No, not entirely spam. It was tongue in cheek approach to something that I would truly love to see. However, I was painfully aware whilst writing that forum control is horribly labour-intensive, and that the suggestion had doubtless been considered before. I would rather Tynan's energies were free to be used on the game rather than wait for the next alpha in a beautifully organised forum.

Which being said, I have some more suggestion for Child Board names. I think you'll find them mildly amusing at first before they transform into shining examples of the application of the inverse-square law to humour.

FoW = The Fog Chamber or Fog of Jaw
Multiplayer = Multi-brawl
Ammo = pandAMMOnium*
Zones = zzZZONEZZzz

*Unfortunately, this may cause confusion alongside PANDAmonium, the board for for the introduction of huntable Pandas, which is in no way a personal obsession and which is absolutely bound to break the interweb with its popularity.

Definitely a cheap idea! Also, Tynan, how about a chess set?  ::)

Ooooh! Necromancy!  8)

I'll bite since this thread is temporarily up and stumbling around.

There should definitely be a collective buff for surviving a raid or siege with no dead colonists, and a personal buff for pawns who come through unscathed.

Alphonse the Abrasive Herbalist - I captured him during a recent raid where he got his leg blown off. I don't recruit anyone with an Abrasive trait so I did what I normally do: patched him up, fitted a peg leg, and released him. He gets about 50 metres from the gates when I can only assume his abrasive nature really shows and he kicks a squirrel to death before trogging on.

A short while later, during a periodic zoom in to the colony, I hear a bit of thumping and squeaking taking place. On panning round, I find Alphonse, near the edge of the map, standing over the corpse of another squirrel and then, for no apparent reason, he gets into a fistfight with a nearby boomrat, kicks it to death, and promptly dies in the subsequent explosion.

I'm still enjoying the joy buff that gave me.

Since I am anal enough to love a good bit of micromanagement, I have 9 different Outfits set up (on a 40-member colony, I should add. I'm anal, not deranged).

Alpha - Snipers : Pants, Button-down Shirt, Duster, Cowboy Hat - 80% to 100%, Excellent to Legendary
Beta - Assault : Pants, Button-down Shirt, Duster, Cowboy Hat - 80% to 100%, Excellent to Legendary
Gamma - Power : Pants, Button-down Shirt, Duster, Cowboy Hat - 80% to 100%, Excellent to Legendary
Delta - Melee : Pants, Button-down Shirt, Duster, Cowboy Hat - 80% to 100%, Excellent to Legendary
Snipers - Alpha : Pants, Button-down Shirt, Duster, Armour Vest, Kevlar Helmet - 60% to 100%, Good to Legendary
Assault - Beta : Pants, Button-down Shirt, Duster, Armour Vest, Kevlar Helmet - 50% to 100%, Normal to Legendary
Power - Gamma : Power Armour, Power Armour Helmet - 60% to 100%, Normal to Legendary
Melee - Delta : Pants, Button-down Shirt, Duster, Armour Vest, Power Armour, Personal Shield, Power Armour Helmet, Kevlar Helmet, - 60% to 100%, Normal to Legendary
Birthday Suit : Nothing

I do it this way so that as soon as a raid is flagged I can get everyone into the right battle dress without having to think, just swap them for their reciprocal outfit. I use Birthday Suit if my stock of new clothing gets high enough by getting everybody in the buff then setting them back, group by group.

Come to think of it, despite my earlier assertion, I may possibly be deranged after all.

Well, your English is pretty good for anyone speaking it as a secondary language, let alone someone of your age! Hehe, there are plenty of British 14 year olds who don't manage to make as much sense as you do.

"feel free to start briefly comment what you prefer development time focus on BEFORE FOW!"

But what if don't want FOW ever? I can't even vote in poll for this! At this point:
yes=yes and now
no=yes but not now

I think you may be reading this too literally. It's important to avoid picking apart the vocabulary of the OP instead of using a bit of flexibility (for so many people here, English is not a first language, so there are bound to be times when we must give people the benefit of the doubt).

In this case, if you substitute 'before FoW' with 'instead of FoW' or 'rather than FoW', you get a better feel of the intent, I believe.
