On the one hand I agree with Tynan going for arch now - it's still pre-alpha & it's best moment to go for the bigger, more important gaming parts now and doing the finetuning later.
On the other hand I agree with Semmy going for some more items and mini thinks to keep us happy.
Hard decision

finally I think it might be slightly bette to going on with arch and modding. Because when Tynan starts finetuning and adding a few items he risks to get carried away and rambles on.

Functional Buildings: If there wil be rivers = hydroelectric power plants please, trap signal (entice unsuspecting space travelers to raid them),
Traits: Shy (Person don't chat & you don't know his/her other Traits), chatty (loves to chat and gives other persons additional bonuses, but works much slower (obviously )), claustrophobic (don't like to be underground), militant (get fighting-bonuses, but become angry after a few days without a fight = lowers loyality),
Events: Beeing blackmailed by Mafia or a local raider-gang (something like: "invest" XXX Ore or gang will attack (a very cheap one ;-) )),  plague of insects (destroying potatoes  ), and a 4th time: Crashed ship ... please
Misc: Alien (looking) Raiders, an old minefield (There are several signboards to define it. But in the centre of this minefield might be something very useful),

If you are searching for creative writers, this could be just the right point for starting to translate?!
Asking some of my friends, it could be very helpful to release RimWorld also in other languages.
I can offer you to help out with the german translation.

1. jobwise I translate english terms and texts to depict difficult coherences and processes for the german authorities. In my free time I'm a hobby writer. I wrote a lot of roleplay-adventures for local RP-forums and groups.
2. I want to help out because I love your game concept. And I want you keeping the good work. I believe that when your stay on expanding and refining your game with your current commitment - your game will be really awsome. And of course I also want to enjoy your game in my native language. 
3. I can spend a couple of hours every week for translating.
