I'm not sure it does feel somewhat random. It seems the higher the haul skill is trained the more often they will haul and certain animals seem to haul more often. Huskies seem to me to haul more often than labs or boars for instance.

I do know that after getting 6 huskies bred and trained for hauling I don't need to haul anything too often anymore.

So I saw in the patch notes that infestations now only spawn under thick roofs. I thought they only spawned under overhead mountain before so what changed?

Thats awesome I had no idea you could freeze them below -30 and kill the embryo.

I heard someone talking about breeding tons of chickens and having them fight raids quite well so I'm trying that now. Up to about 180 chicks/chickens after 1 season. just waiting for a raid randy.

Bongs/pipes should probably be the standard. Joints - like cheeseburgers - are only really practical in a highly industrialized society that has a lot of specialized manufacturing. Good quality rolling paper is pretty hard to manufacture in your backyard.

I'm willing to suspend my disbelief though. :p

This is interesting to me. I assumed joints were quite simple.

So how would people in primitive societies have smoked these things? Just pipes?

I would agree with cultist on this. Indians had peace pipes and primitive wood, bone, reed pipes would probably be before joints. single or short term use.

I haven't tried 15 yet so dont know how it works but smoking a pipe should take longer than a joint.

I got an idea when I read your title... now that rats are in the game they should chew through our storages and eat our food and spread disease.

General Discussion / Re: Trade Goods in A14
August 20, 2016, 10:12:21 PM
The main thing now that traders are so rare is to diversify.

Statues are good, beer is good, meals can be ok early on, Clothing is awesome.

For clothing like the guy above me said thrumbo fur is very expensive but I believe dusters work out to be worth the most money for the materials used. I could be wrong though but I make dusters to sell.

Obviously human skin is also very good but if your not butchering at all then boomalope hide is worth a ton as well. I love getting a screen full of manhunting boomalopes if my colony is setup well enough to survive as I make a ton.

But just try to have some clothing, some beer, some statues some of everything you can on hand for whatever type of trader shows up.

Edit: Oh also Alpaca fur is worth a decent bit and grows fast so a few alpacas are great for making money.

hmm after looking again even the masterwork vest is $600 and 20% blunt 60% sharp like all the others... I must have been looking at something else.

So all armor vests are exactly the same no matter what? an awful is just as good as a legendary I assume? strange.

So I noticed today making a bunch of armor vests that they were all the same blunt/sharp defense and the same market value. The vests ranged from normal to superior. The market value was $600 for all of them.

I started thinking I was crazy and it was always that way but then I made a master work that was about double the stats. So is this a bug or did something change or am I just now noticing this?

General Discussion / Re: Prisoner mood?
August 13, 2016, 07:45:33 PM
what really pisses me off now is my prisoners get an ate without table debuff however when I built them a table and chairs they refuse to use it... So yeah I guess the prisons are supposed to be the nicest rooms in your whole colony now...

Problem with randy is that yes: he throws 3 consecutive things at your face... But they are not really hard and the you get a long time if resting.

This didn't happen in a13 I think he might have been nerfed in a14

Cass is predictable, be she gets harder and harder while randy apparently doesn't.

You got that wrong, cassandra shouldn't do it, but she is doing it enough to create some very, very anoying gameplay. I didn't enjoy any of the Cassadra plays I did. She is sending one event after another and scailling way too fast.

I always thought cassandra was supposed to be like that. Basically predictable starts slow but ramps up to kick your ass.

Also zandadoum I believe I read that randy's event frequency went down from 1.5 to 1.0 so there are less events over all. Thats probably why he gets so boring in between the fun in a14 as I noticed that as well.

I wonder if they made everything slightly easier for the steam release. I usually played on randy rough as im still pretty new but should probably go to challenge or whatever the next is.

Bugs / Manhunters not working if asleep.
August 12, 2016, 03:36:11 AM
Ok I didn't see this posted but ever since a14 I have been getting manhunter messages in the middle of the night and when i zoom to the animal it's asleep. It does not have the manhunter tag and when it wakes up it still doesn't gain the manhunter tag.

So I'm not sure if it's a bug where it just doesn't set them as manhunter or if it isn't supposed to summon a manhunter at night.

Obviously I mean the single animal that turns manhunter for no reason as opposed to the manhunter pack events.

Edit: Also I have no mods installed at all and it's the steam version.

General Discussion / Tv in hospital not working?
August 10, 2016, 03:20:21 AM
So I just searched and found tons of people saying as long as your hospital beds are facing the tv and within the viewing radius that shows when placing the tv the patients will watch the tv and gain joy.

Mine however do not. I have had the tv for quite some time and it is definitely facing the beds and beds facing it and no one has gained any joy. and yes it has power.

So any ideas? is it bugged in this build because im not positive if I tried it last build or not.

Thanks for any input.

It works like in real life, you block the exhaust, unless it is outside, you risk catching the object in front of it on fire.

Oh ok Mine's outside so hasn't caught fire yet. That makes sense though.
