Support / Steam Keys

So I saw the rimworldgame.com page had been updated. And I also saw 'For Windows, Mac, Linux. The game is distributed by DRM-free download. You'll also get a Steam key.'.

Does this mean that steam keys are now available? If so, how would one get a key? As I haven't really heard anything else from this, I presume by 'You'll also get a Steam key' it means that it's an upcoming thing?

I have watched every episode of Doctor Who minus the latest season. I don't dislike it, it is just vastly overrated.

Well, the new series is different. Watch some classic episodes. The new ones are bloody complicated and full of love crap. In the old ones it was 'Look, an evil alien! Let's blow it up!' Now it's 'I'm teh uncomin strom and i haet violnce derrherr'

So, a less aggressive storyteller was added and overall the AI was fixed a bit. So I started a game, all went well until, again, the third wave came. Eight raiders, almost all of whom are assassins. I have three turrets, two outside and one inside my underground base. As you can imagine, I got fucked over pretty quickly.

I know it's still early dev. etc etc but this issue needs to be addressed, considering it was said to be fixed and clearly it hasn't. Just sayin, because it's really annoying me. I presume if I build more turrets (which are basically useless) the storyteller will just send more raiders...

Ideas / Re: Got an idea for a Storyteller incident?

Weather: Hail - Damages buildings, and can even destroy them if not seen to. Needs to be cleaned away afterwards.

Hit and Run: The raiders are taking a swoop over your colony and will drop grenades. Be prepared! (Will damage but not destroy buildings underground).

Bumper Yield: All crops reach maturity and drop 2x more food than normal.

Planet Fall: Some guns fall in some debris from your crashed ship.

If anything, Doctor Who is overrated. It is quirky, and that is about it. I suppose that is enough for most though.

SG-1 is probably my favorite Sci-Fi show of all time.

You should watch some more episodes, the ones in the 60s especially were well written and inventive. Considering it, Doctor Who was one of the founding programmes to establish the sci-fi on TV movement.

I must watch Farscape then!

Yeah, the new Doctor Who is too complicated, I blame the Moffat. I think it's been made faster and more complicated for little kids' who's attention span is about 0.2 seconds these days : P

I can't wait for The Day of The Doctor, it looks good!

It is a dream colony - Just me, mad-scientist, and army of my droids: protecting the base, growing crops, mining uranium and building more droids!

I think you're looking for a city-building game with contracts, missions and droids, not an isolated getusoutofhere colony simulator :L

Actually, Startopia is where I got the idea for Prison and Tourist contracts - both exists as missions in that game.   ;D

But RimWorld is about isolation and being far away from civilization... the colonists want to get off this world as soon as they can. If they could get contact for a tourists contract, they'd have enough communications to get help :|

I was confused that the name 'Gay' was put into the game :L

Gay's thoughts: Have you ever tried to get a bloodstain out of a tu-tu?

Ideas / Colony Log
November 07, 2013, 04:38:44 PM
You can disable/enable this at any time in the options, but at the end of each day (when enabled), I guess at midnight, the game pauses and you're prompted to write a log of the day. Any casualties are automatically logged in the 'summary' at the bottom of the log. It will also be saved as a .txt file so you can post it elsewhere.

I just think it's a cool idea, although it'd need a GUI and quite a lot of code. Just a suggestion :L

You'd need to make them have a big research project, like 20,000 to unlock them. I dunno though, if these refugees would have such technological capabilities... oh well, it's early days yet.

Quote from: Robitski on November 07, 2013, 01:18:58 PMAs I said, it's nit-picking considering how good the back stories are anyway. :3

This whole thread confuses me, as it seems not to have a subject, but...

Is that Arnold Judas Rimmer in your signature?!

Oh yes. 2nd Technician, and more reliable than a garden strimmer I hear. (I love Red Dwarf, and considering there's an episode called 'Rimmerworld' that sounds similar to RimWorld I was just waiting for somebody to pick up the reference). : D
