Releases / Re: [B18] Rimsenal v1.1: Early adapter edition

I appear to have a bug
Whenever I use the Equipment assembly facility, to make the GD tactical pistol when my pawn finishes building it, it disappears, and they try to start again. The same thing happens with the carbine (I haven't tried anything else, but I assume as much)

Yes

Nice
Just another question though, do skills still get EX even when the pawn hates doing it? Is it possible to get something with a 20 in a skill who hates doing it?

Lumi, one of my starting pawns from the game I was playing, is an 80-year-old transgender badass (Found in the caravan child backstory I believe)
(The Rimsonal mod, the simple sidearms mod and Geneticrim are used) With a 19 in shooting and an 18 in melee (And I'm still currently playing, so she might be 20-20 by the time you read this)
She comes equipped with a minigun and a longsword as a sidearm. Wearing a military vest, a feral faction hood and a cloak. She has a bionic arm and her muscles are enhanced with bear DNA. Her melee DPS in the information tab is almost 20, that's more than twice than that of a thrumbo!

Some of her achievements include her pumping a megaspider full of lead, then once in melee range, she finished it off in one swipe, before it could hope to land a hit.
Since my area has a lot of bears, he also is my solo bear hunting pawn (She probably killed the bear that we took DNA from)
Lumi also heroicly carried one of my other pawns out of a mountain range on a caravan travel.

It became very clear that you don't f**k with Lumi. Levia, my master builder had a social fight with her, and was almost knocked unconscious in seconds.

My favourite character for sure.

Outdated / Re: [A18] Refugee Stats
November 22, 2017, 11:20:44 PM
YES

I was recently playing a good colony, all was swell. But construction was getting a little slow with my amount of pawns, so when I got the refugee event I accepted.
Little did I know that the guy was a complete drug addict with high tolerance and a bad back, and he was incapable of dumb labour.
So I was tending to him 24/7 as he was dealing with his withdrawal.
And because he already had a bad back, he was half speed, and the food was a while away from his bed, so he often woke up and began to starve almost every second day!
Totally not worth it.

Great mod btw XD

Ideas / Re: Cannibalism drawbacks

I mean, a lot of traits are unilaterally good (jogger, iron-willed, hardworker) or bad (abrasive, ugly, dislikes men/women). The way they are balanced is by the fact that there is a hidden points system when generating colonists, points used for good traits take away from points that would otherwise be used to give colonists passion for skills or increase their base stats.

Is cannibalism considered one of these unilateral traits?

Ideas / Cannibalism drawbacks

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the trait cannibalism has any debuffs or drawbacks
It simply allows someone to get easy mood buffs for free. While certain aspects of it may bring the mood of the colony down, if the entire colony is cannibalistic, or most of them, then its straight up overpowered.
The only drawbacks are from using it with normal pawns in your colony, but there is no consequences if you don't make them eat human flesh.
Maybe if a cannibal doesn't eat any human flesh, or wear any human skin clothes for more than a season, they get an increasing mood debuff.
And if they have a mental break they will find and eat human flesh, by ANY means possible...

Stories / Cannibal Rim
November 16, 2017, 05:14:39 AM
I came up with a scenario for myself, in which I take the tribe scenario and make every pawn have the cannibal trait. I challenge myself to
1. Eat any mere mortal who trespasses on my territory
2. Feed my people man meat as much as possible
And since I've been doing writing things lately, and need some practice, I documented the first while of this game.

-The tribe of 5 arrives in the new land, a land of honey and milk, and a new beginning

-In the old tribe, the consumption of human flesh is taboo to the highest degree, punishable by banishment

-The sun was high, but it wouldn't be so for long

-An old smooth stone building lay not far from their location. Abeneiro investigated. This ruin could possibly be shelter for the night.

-He stopped. A deep hum and mechanical whirring could be heard from inside. The building felt wrong, it shouldn't be there, it was unholy. Something ancient was there, and Abeneiro knew better than to disturb its slumber

-A few huts were constructed, they were simple and dirt, but they would do

-Another space was made for the pets, Toby the cat, India the husky and Barton the terrier

-A few wooden pillars held the roof of the stockpile, it became a favourite shaded resting spot for the pets and humans alike

-As Barton rested under the roofing, he was unaware of what crept up behind him. A fox jumped out, clamping its jaw on his tail. In surprise, Barton tried to get up and run for help, but the fox's grip was strong

-The fox shook its head side to side to tear into its mouthful. After a good few seconds of it, the tail was ripped clean off, showering the dew covered grass in fresh blood.

-Unsatisfied with its catch, the fox dropped the tail and went for the kill. He pushed Barton down by cutting his front paw deep into the dog's side. With his prey on the ground, the attacker crunched Barton's paw, audibly breaking bone.

-Barton whined in agony, delivering a quick kick into his attacker's side. With his limb released, the dog stood up to its stunned aversary.

-The members of the tribe were shouting and rallying in the near distance, Help would arrive soon.

-In an attempt to make the next move and finish the fox, Barton rushed forward, despite the limp and widened his jaw to bite down on his foe. The fox saw it coming too easily. In response, he attacked higher, gripping his jaw on the dog's nose.

-Not delaying for a second, Barton then wrapped his jaw around the fox's lower mandible, pulling with all his might

-The two were stuck in a deadly tug of war, blood dripping down their faces. The tribe members arrived, one with a bow, and the club wielder not far behind.

-Berro pulled the string of his bow and shot quickly. It was unaimed and not well executed, missing entirely. Abeneiro ran up beside him. They shouted to each other in their native language. "Fox! Fox!"

-Berro calmed himself and aimed properly, hitting his mark in the fox's neck. The beast squealed and recoiled back, tearing Barton's nose clean off. Abeneiro walked up to the sorry creature, it whines and twisted on the ground with the arrow protruding from its hide. One swing was all it took.

-A week passed, Barton was still bedridden and recovering from his injuries. Their rudimentary medicine didn't seem enough and doubts of him lasting weren't few.
-Berro and another tribe member sat by the canine, everything was patched up to a degree, and the medicine had been administered. All they could do was lower their heads and wait.

-Condor, another member of the tribe opened the door of the hut, looking overly excited. "What is it? This better be important" Berro demanded.

-"Cotton men from the east, visitors! Visitors!" Berro's expression shifted drastically. "The cotton men always bring good thing!" The cotton men were called as such as due to the odd clothes they covered themselves in. It was a limited description in the very least.

-They might have something that could help Barton, but that was hardly the first thing on Berro's mind.

-Two men could be seen bumbling around near the huts. Irwin, a skinny pale-skinned man in a bucket hat and Panda, a much larger man with skin colour much closer in resemblance to the tribe's people, but it was quite easy to tell he wasn't from any native tribe.
He looked much older than he actually was, with his greying hair and retreading hair line, he looked much more into his 40s despite being 27.

-Panda carried a small knife in a little leather sheath, Irwin carried a revolver, tucked into their own pouch strap. Berro had never actually seen one of the fire sticks shoot before, but he had seen a similar weapon carried by a rather tasty sky person.

-They never got a chance to use it however, they can't use it in their sleep

-Berro approached the two men in an odd manner, Inspecting them head to toe like a skeptical auctioneer."Hello?" Asked Panda. "Do you speak English?" The man with darker skin was a little fatter up close. Good

-"Yes" Berro had learned a little of the language from the few of the Cotton men, hopefully enough to work out a transaction.

-"Ah, good thing that" He sat down a large box he had burdened himself with. "Do like what you see?" The box was filled with many strange things, but a few things were easily recognisable.

-A large technical rifle was presented at the forefront. Berro recoiled at little at the sight of the powerful weapon. "Not that one, I know that you couldn't afford something like that" Which was quite true in honesty, not that Berro would want to use such an unholy weapon.

-He pointed to a case of medicine. "We buy. Take Silver?" It took a second for Panda to work out what he meant, but it brought a smile of satisfaction and relief.

-The silver was given and the medicine was received. Barton responded well to it, giving a hope that he might pull through.

-The strange men had packed up their things, and looked about ready to leave. Berro approached them with haste. "No no no. Stay. Come." He beckoned the men.

-The cotton men had been traveling for quite some time, the hospitality was well received. They turned the corner, only to find three of the tribesmen, bows at the ready.

-"What is the meaning of this!?" Panda cried. Irwin reached for his gun, but it was all too late. Berro swiped his head with a large club made of jade. He fell with a thud, and was put down with a quick jab of a spear by a man on their flank.

-Panda gasped in horror. He tried to back away, as he did so, the arches let their arrows loose, instantly making into a living (or not so) pincushion.

-The tribe celebrated and danced for the feast. It had been so long since they have tasted man flesh, it was truly a time for rejoice!
