Crack their skull open and feast on the goo inside?

I hope they're implemented. I really want a map that starts normally and slowly gets unbearably hotter or colder.

In addition to the climate cycle I'd like to see a new map condition for the scenarios where it becomes increasingly hotter or colder over a period of years until the map is at some really extreme temperatures. Thoughts?

Hax. I am playing Alpha15, and it's amazeballs! You can start as Mechs now, poor Mech family who are misunderstood and just want to hug colonists.

Sounds great! I want to play as an infestation a misunderstood insect hive, can we do that too?

I'm playing as a deer. My lack of hands limits gameplay but it's surprisingly zen-like.

It certainly feels like Rimworld happens on Earth! All planets look alike. Only Earth plants. Animals very similar to Earth animals. One sun, very similar seasons. No diseases that feel alien.

In the Rimworld universe there are no aliens, and likely all life originated on Earth. All the animals and plants are Earth life because the colonists brought them there.

Saves labor, doesn't break down for much, and the debuff is kinda trivial, or doesn't exist if you have a nice dining room.

I'm not really sure what the appeal of cooking is anymore if it isn't fine meals during a psychic drone.

This. I stockpile meals for solar flares but otherwise I don't even bother cooking regularly until I have at least 5-6 colonists.

General Discussion / It's raining cougar meat
April 07, 2016, 09:13:20 PM
I've had several hundred units of cougar bits fall from space and land near my base across multiple occasions. The trail of events required is simultaneously mind boggling and hilarious. Is this some madman's poorly conceived attempt at an orbital bombardment of mountain lions or has a deep-space cougar farm self-destructed to prevent the feline uprising? Perhaps the planet's rings are simply made of slowly deorbiting big game cats?

So many questions but the only conclusion I can draw is that somewhere in the galaxy there are a lot of cougars and someone is dead set on launching them into space.

Would be awesome... Honestly z levels alone would be huge.

Tynan has said that he'll consider continuing to developing the game as long as people keep buying it but z levels aren't happening. I believe the game would have to be completely rewritten. It's just not set up for it at all.

The lesson I see here is that BATTERIES KILL.

I've been going out of my way to avoid having batteries at all. When raids hit I have to turn all my turrets on and all the base lights and equipment off but it prevents random explosions from killing people.

I wish the explosions were rarer but replaced by something like damaged wires have a chance of causing a fire if not repaired.

Ha that's great. I'm totally using that next time.

Quote from: Play2Jens on June 08, 2015, 11:17:31 AMHow about linking the art not only with the artist's skill level, but also with his mood? and ad a bit of random in it.

I like that idea but maybe don't link mood to the quality of the art but to the subject. Happy colonists produce art with friendlier subjects, miserable colonists focus on subjects like death and illness. Miserable artists can produce great art after all.

It's a bit strange that:
* art's primary benefit in this game is making money
* artists look like assembly line workers
* artists can just keep making good art. If he makes something crap, you just order him to make more art.

1. I suspect that will be rebalanced at some point.
2. It is a bit weird but since the workbench setup was used for making art I can understand. Should be pretty easy to mod in a more appropriate looking workbench that looks like something a sculptor would use.
3. Well they can in real life too. Once an artist gets good enough most things they churn out will be at least aesthetically pleasing if not exactly great works of art. Heck all the world's great artists had to pay bills too. I'm sure that more than one famous sculpture was done solely with a payday in mind.

I built walls across the map so that passing groups have to travel past my door and engage any hostiles threatening me. Free loot and they fight so I don't have to.
