Having a bit of trouble setting up my mountain base as it takes a lot of time to dig, but I have a huge mountainous wall which blocks the other side of the map from raiders. I set up a little camp for the time being so I can set it up and finally settle in there. What should I focus on? I've never done full mountain bases before, and I have infestations disabled, so don't tell me about any infestation tips.

Ideas / PLEASE ADD A PRISONER FIGHT AREA

It would be amazing. Prisoners would fight the crap out of each other, and the surviving one wins. It should provide a ton of joy to colonists who participate.

General Discussion / Questions About Raiding Bases
March 20, 2018, 06:46:33 PM
1. If I raid a base, will it become abandoned and I will be able to visit anytime back to get the resources?

2. If a base sells a specific something, and the base gets destroyed by my faction, will the items that they offered to trade appear in their stockpile? If not, what will appear? (Food, guns, clothing etc.)

3. How big are faction bases?

Also, tell me a bit about what way I should raid these factions. Thanks!

General Discussion / Re: Early game caravans
March 17, 2018, 04:24:02 PM
No, caravans are any stage-game. Just try to avoid enemy bases. The closer you get to them, the higher chance there will be an ambush. Make sure to not bring excessive materials, or extra colonists, so wealth does not go up and the ambush is quite small rather than large.

I'm currently on an ice sheet on permadeath, and also in a mountainous so I won't run out of supplies. I landed a month ago, and my colony is somewhat stable. What should I do? I know I should rush hydroponics, but I have a mod which allows me to buy soil from traders and use it as ground. Sunlamps are not needed since I have skylight mod. Please tell me, what should I try to do to survive well?

General Discussion / Re: Seperate Bedrooms Worth it?

You can still make the bedrooms extremely impressive early-game. I have a tribe, and all my people sleep in extremely impressive barracks. I just put carpet and a bunch of statues.

General Discussion / Seperate Bedrooms Worth it?
March 10, 2018, 01:33:25 PM
I feel like seperate bedrooms take up too much space. This is not very good if you are being hindered by marshes, mountains, etc. where you have little space. Barracks debuff is easy to counter by putting statues everywhere, and the disturbed sleep thing is easy to counter as well by putting the door far away from the beds. What are your opinions?

Thanks for the advice! I don't mind hauling the eggs, I have a few hauling dogs. As long as I can keep a consistent supply of fine meals.

General Discussion / Pigs vs. Chickens vs. Cows
February 26, 2018, 04:14:35 PM
I've played Rimworld for a bit and all have farmed these animals. Which are the best? I plan to replace my simple meals with fine meals, and I don't know what to get. I want to get the chickens, but should I also get cows or pigs? I've seen pigs, and they grow relatively fast and reproduce somewhat quicker. Thing is that they output no milk or much meat. Cows are pretty good. They seem pretty sustainable. Am I missing something with cows or pigs? (My colony is in Boreal Forest, so I have a lot of grazing area)

Help / [GLITTERTECH] Cluster Mortar Does Not Fire
February 23, 2018, 06:45:29 PM
I've had a few cluster mortars in my base for a while now. I've kept them in an unroofed area, and even when they lock on, they don't see to fire. Am I doing something wrong? I only kept the opening 2x2 so only the mortar fits. Is there some  kind of ammo I need? Please help me.

General Discussion / Tips with Raiding Bases
February 22, 2018, 06:03:06 PM
Should I bring my whole colony to raid another colony? I've seen people do it in videos and I'm not sure whether it's a good idea. I have somewhere around 12 people. Should I let them all go, or leave at least one person to stay? I'm not sure whether raid sizes decrease by the number of colonists.

Get cows, they breed fast, yield lots of meat, and females also produce lots of milk.

General Discussion / Caravan Glitch
February 17, 2018, 09:44:37 PM
For some reason, when I make a caravan during the Winter -- where there are no plants to eat -- my food constantly starts to disappear. When I go out, somewhere half-way it says I ran out of food, even though I calculated every correctly (hopefully). I'm not sure, but do pack animals or colonists just eat the food reserved for the caravan, or they consume what is actually remaining in the colony?

Also, do bedrolls work as portable beds during caravans, meaning people don't get the "slept on floor" debuff when using the bedroom during a caravan, or do they just keep it in their inventory?

General Discussion / Mechanoid Ships
February 05, 2018, 07:41:47 PM
I've had a few of mechanoid ships come, and they are extremely annoying. The centipedes are extremely overpowered, typically killing a colonist in just one shot. The inferno cannon is VERY overpowered. It creates a huge circle of fire, which makes your colonists run around until the fire gets dumped out. The plasma cannon is okay, and the minigun as well. Centipedes have TOO much health. Scythers can easily one-shot your colonists, and have long range. I've had only 11 colonists, 3 being nonviolent, with 3 centipedes and 2 scythers spawn in. Most of the centipedes had inferno-launchers. You will never convince me to play on perma-death mode. How do you strategically kill these centipedes? I know you will say sniper rifles, but all the mechanoids instantly find out and you are dead at the next second.

General Discussion / Re: Animal Mods

I have hay, but not long enough to sustain any animal until the next harvest. Is it possible for animals to only eat grass if it's in their diet?
