Make raider bodies default haul-able, I don't like having to click on them and hit F, sometimes I forget and then the mental breakdowns loom :P

Very nice start. Nice parting comments too about Dickson and leaning his light on.

A question about the mechanics though - does rain/overcast weather impact on solar generation? I thought it just had to be in an illuminated area.

I don't actually know, I've only played three games so far, the first two of which ended in the untimely death of everyone during raids, and the third one you're reading about now.

This planet has a bunch of deserts, and a goddawful amount of rain and eclipses, so I have the feeling power will be a constant struggle.

I am updating the first post in the thread for all new entries, as opposed to new posts for each one, to make it more concise and easy to read.

Stories / Burns, Bestiality, and the Illuminati

So begins the journey of a new colony, three, extremely creepy, settlers abandoned to their own devices on what seems to be a deserted world.

Lara, 21 Years old Female
Born a slave on a backwoods medieval world, she eventually found her freedom when a mining vessel passed through her system. She escaped her toil as a slave at the young age of fifteen, and bounced between jobs mining at various deep core mining installations throughout the galaxy. One day she happened upon an abandoned shrine deep below the surface of one of the worlds on which she worked, a room filled with ancient scrolls and tapestries, that shed light on the secrets of the universe to her. These scrolls belonged to the Illuminati, and now they are searching for her, to make sure that secret never escapes. Unaware of her danger, she had intended to return to her world and free her family from slavery, and so she boarded that fateful shuttle.

Brook, 37 year old Female
Born an urchin on an Urban world, she survived by stealing from small shops to feed herself and her little sister. As she grew older, she joined in with a small local gang. When they were involved in a robbery on another gang's warehouse she was abandoned by her friends when she was injured, and was marked with a large burn mark on her face by the rival gang as a message. She drifted around the planet, taking whatever work she could, and stealing a little on the side before she was finally caught and sentenced to five years of hard labour and expulsion to a colony world. She was on her way to her rendezvous ship when she ended up on this fateful shuttle towards the next way-station.

Dickson, 26 year old Male
Born a lord of a medieval world, Dickson had an.... odd taste. As opposed to a love for women and chivalrous relationships, he had, a love of animals, in all ways. Eventually his.... vast collection of exotic animal friends.... lead some people to question if Lord Dickson should be allowed to continue his rule. He was exiled from the planet to a colony world in a violent coup lead by his younger brother, and was travelling to his new world when he boarded the shuttle.

Day One
The Party landed on a barren world, debris strewn about everywhere, and as they left the "safety" of their pod, a barren landscape surrounded them. Dickson took to the high-ground where he could see vast deserts in every direction lying in the lowlands at the foot of great mountains, a thin greenbelt of arable land separating the two, it seems that unless rescue comes soon, a lack of food might threaten the party quite soon. All of the party members agreed that getting seeds to soil was the most pressing matter, and then establishing temporary housing would come after.  There was a disagreement over how the construction of a temporary shelter would go, Dickson refused to share a room with the two women, calling them "filthy peasants". Eventually it was agreed to make one structure with three separate rooms and a small walkway connecting them, a solar panel was also assembled from some parts that fell off of the crashed shuttle. A battery array needed to be made but unfortunately the only spot to place it was in the hallway, much to the chagrin of Dickson.

Day Two
The night passed uneventfully and the a area for growing plants was marked out by Brook. The Party worked on expanding their rag-tag structure to include a separate room for the battery array and began work on another small building to serve as a meeting room and to store their food processor. Lara began mining out some of the rocky formation nearby to acquire some more minerals, while Dickson worked, slowly, on the construction of some beds for everyone, it would be nice to not sleep outside.

Day Five
Some bloody boom rat went insane and ran into Brook's bedroom, tearing up her arm with it's cute little claws. Dickson rushed in with his pistol but Lara ended up clubbing the thing to death. Nobody really wanted to touch it so the body laid there for a few hours before Brook finally drug the thing outside, her room was a mess though. The Party agreed it was too dangerous to have their structures so exposed, and so they began construction on a large enclosure so that all of the buildings were only accessible through one entrance. Nobody knew what to do about the solar array though, as the rain had been pouring for two days straight and the batteries were looking a little low.

Day Five Addendum (Night)
We ran out of power, everyone blames Dickson for leaving the light in his room on all night.

Day Seven
It's been raining nonstop, why is there a desert here? Even worse, now an eclipse has blocked out all of the light from our orbiting star, according to our maps it's most likely Kepler-62, which means the Party is light years from rescue, but oddly enough in the way of weekly merchant and caravans, raiders, and the occasional mad boomrat, I won't question it. The power has gone out and we've been frantically trying to find out how to keep it together in the dark. We finished construction on a defensive turret, but none of the party is willing to risk going outside with all of that lightning.

Day Eight
A person fell from the sky over the night, the lightning was booming everywhere, maybe it's the sound of some intergalactic space battle happening overhead, who knows. Anyway, we sent Brook outside to drag the guy in. We are pretty cautious about letting some stranger inside so we tied him up and tossed him inside of the battery array room, we'll figure out what to do with him later.

Day Nine
The power came back on finally. But due to our battery array being fully depleted for so long we are only running the essentials. Everyone agreed getting the power situation fully resolved takes priority, and everyone began construction on a network of solar panels in the desert region. To secure the compound, any rooms built after here will be expanded by digging into the mountain, hopefully this will protect us from the constant lightning strikes and make it easier if any raiders do appear.

Okay so the raiders are is here, damn.

Day Ten
The raider attacked, it was a lone woman, and Dickson, acting like the triumphant hero idiot he is, decided to rush out and attack her alone. If it weren't for our defensive turret he'd be bleeding out in the sand right now. Either way, he drug her (mostly) alive body inside after she collapsed, we still don't know where the hell to put these strangers so she's tied up in the battery room as well. I think we need to dig out some more of the mountain.

Side note, we were able to construct a research room and a communications station, they've been placed deeper inside our new colony named, "THE DREADFORT", Dickson painted it on the side of the building and everybody else was too hungry to argue about it.
