When I play boreal forest I just build a big rectangular building (Wooden) with no floor and then I put my growing zone inside with a sun lamp and a heater, job done no need for hydroponics and uses less electricity :-)

Thought i'd re-awaken this topic as it relates to my suggestion.

Basically diodes is something I think we should have towards the mid-end game giving players the means to cancel out the electrical surges. The image at the top of this post is the best example I can think of that relates to my suggestion.

But diodes to balance things out should be quite expensive and cost quite a bit of materials so that they are not easily accessible and give the player something to work for.

Maybe some type of wall like the conduit wall that can transport electricity as well as heat, to get the heat into a room you would place a vent next to the wall.

I noticed this with gold but i was using debug mode, i'm going to try and replicate this playing legit tonight to see if its a one off bug or permanent.

You could build a wall with a door around your devilstrand and put a no roof zone above it so that you are just blocking off the farm from animals but still letting sunlight into the room for your plants.

I use this technique to protect my expensive crops :)

I wouldn't mind testing the latest build.
I've tested for quite a few different games in the past and participated in many private tests for PC indies & IOS apps.
I've also got a wide range of hardware to test the game on ranging from

  • 2 PC's built in 2001 & 2004
  • 1 Medium/high end windows 7 desktop(dedicated graphics)
  • 1 windows 8 laptop with integrated GPU
I also understand that testing is not just about playing the latest build but also trying to discover bugs and replicate them. Thanks :)

You could have it where when you have an electric fence the raiders will only target your power production as their #1 priority.

so for instance there could be 2 out of 10 raiders who go on a suicidal run into your base to take out your generator so the rest can charge in.

I was looking on the internet for sandbox/open world survival games and came across rimworld on a post. I then checked out a couple of videos on youtube and thought "Hang on this is kinda like prison architect but in space". I then bought the game realised its not prison architect but something better.

What about adding a self destruct to the door and choosing the type of blast it gives off when it is destroyed e.g.

*Raider kicks door in, door explodes with frag explosion possibly killing him.
*Mech breaks down door, door explodes with EMP explosion immobilising it.

I reckon there will be historical characters inside the cryptopods, on the dev roadmap it actually says eventually historical characters may come back as pirates etc.

*Finds cryptopod, walt disney inside ;)
