Say you have 0 social skill on a person, that 40,000 dollar gold thing only sells for 1000 because you can't convince the merchant to pay more, while on the other side a skill of 15 or so gets you the full amount and so on. Allows you to use the skill more than just talking to each other.
That has always been a thing....hasn't it?

Just spend my last download try (for some reason download link didn't refresh with alpha8 release) and finally got alpha8.
Game runs nicely, new colonies creates perfect, but old saves load just black screen. Checked this thread, deleted all RimWorld old files, delete all config files. But same thing - my previos alpa version saves load only black screen, music and coursor.
It's not a tragedy, but i was dreaming to finish my spaceship and continue my story from forest to frosty tundra.
Old saves (and worlds) are almost never going to work for a new alpha, for future reference. If you have a game you particularly want to finish, you should do so before you download the new alpha.

Tynan mentioned he has some sort of clothing system planned to control this, but in the meantime, colonists will have lesser effects that will be noticeable by the healthbar to warn you before major things happen.

I am fairly certain that Tynan has said that there are no plans currently for Z-levels. I am pretty sure that, unlike the A8 video, those cryptosleep pods will only appear under mountains.

It actually depends on the driver you have. It has to be made specifically made for DVD's. You can usually tell if the front of the CD drive says DVD on it.
