I have a husky with dementia that occasionally does that. I assumed it was intentional. If not (or if so), dementia is very probably the cause.

Is it true that moderators that fail Tynan get their organs harvested and sold?

"A pack of man-hunting elephants have entered the area. They will roam the region, hunting for humanoid flesh." This sounds more terrifying than wargs!
Fortunately, it looks like a pack of elephants is only two elephants. This should be interesting.

How do I feed dogs?
Like, will they just eat the meat out of my freezer or do they need something special since my selftamed rimwolf is kind of starving and I am unsure what to do.
From another thread:

Animals eat food on their own. If they're not carnivores and there's grass outside, let them eat that and you won't have to feed them at all (except for training). Otherwise, allow the animals access to their food (store some food in their allowed area, or have their allowed area include the freezer).
If you have a warg (not other dogs), it's a carnivore and it has to eat raw meat. Allow it access to the freezer where you're storing the meat and it should eat it. (though I don't have a warg so I don't know exactly how it works)

General Discussion / Re: Is there a way to train the taming skill?
August 25, 2015, 01:47:49 PMQuote from: Panzer on August 25, 2015, 11:41:00 AM
If you want to level taming, critters with a high wilderness level are good because you get xp during the process regardless of the result, and if hes already tamed, obedient and trained you wont get any skill increase anymore. Otherwise, fast breeding critters like pigs and chickens are good for training too (can you train chickens?), lots of offspring means lots of training
The problem with that is the taming skill has to be high enough for the high-wildness animal in the first place, and the problem some (like the OP) are having is not having anyone with high enough taming.
No, you can't train chickens. They have "Intelligence: None". It's probably for the best that we can't send infinite chickens at our enemies.

August 25, 2015, 01:42:17 PMQuote from: Jan2607 on August 25, 2015, 11:23:44 AMYou shouldn't need to release the dog, just switch its master to someone else or "none", or undraft the master.
His master was drafted, and the dog took a walk. I didn't release him, because the colonist fought against centipedes. That's a little bit too much for a dog, I think.

Another question: Will colonists with job Handling don't feed tamed animals? I have tons of hay in my storage, but my animals are starving, because no one wants to feed them.

General Discussion / Re: No cats?

Yes... cats should have a "Humans" skill, and use it to attempt to tame humans. Tame humans can then be trained in obedience (defending the cats from enemies), release (going out to attack enemies, e.g. siegers), rescue (-ing the cats), and hauling (food to the cats).
Of course, this means colonies should start with 3 cats and 1 pet human, instead of the current starting population.

Was its master drafted? You can see in the A12 video it won't rescue if it is, it'll keep defending.

You also can't use hay to train/tame, or meals. Has to be raw food that isn't hay.

Yeah, there's no cats, and currently only three dogs really I think (The lab, wargs, and the yorks).
There are also huskies (spelling?), so four dogs if you count wargs.

"Animal interacted too recently" or something similar, I assume. You can only try to tame or train a specific animal once in a while, like prisoners, not over and over again until it works.

Bugs / Re: [M|0.12.90] Humans/Animals with destroyed stomachs can still be fed
August 24, 2015, 01:51:14 PM
Can they really not eat on their own? I thought they could still eat, just very slowly (and possibly only nutrient paste, not sure about that though). Otherwise it'd just be guaranteed death, since stomachs aren't harvestable organs or items.

A few months in, with a variety of animals (a few small, a few large, a few dogs, many chickens), none of the animals have been named (except for the dogs that get named automatically). I've never seen an animal nuzzle a colonist either, but I haven't been keeping a close enough eye on the animals, colonists, and colonists' thoughts to say for sure that it never happens. How common is it for animals to nuzzle, and for those animals to be named? I can't really tell the difference between "my colony is bugged and animals never nuzzle" and "animals rarely nuzzle, and/or nuzzling animals rarely get named, and it just hasn't happened yet".

General Discussion / Re: So long ?

It would be nice if the info screen for an animal had that type of animal's pregnancy length, so you have an idea how long you might have to wait to know if it's pregnant once it is (half the length) and how long it'll take for an animal to be born after you find out about it (also half the length). Similar to the life expectancy number, which tells you something general about all boomrats, or alpacas, or whatever, instead of something specific about Boomrat 1 like move speed.
