I don't know if this fits in your mod but I've lately found myself needing to copy settings between storage objects/zones. Would be handy with a "copy settings" button in the UI somehow.

One example is stocking gun racks. I only want to keep a couple different types of weapons but having to go through and disable the same on each gun rack is annoying. Same with zones, being able to duplicate a zone easily would be awesome.

I agree. I have found myself wanting to clone a stockpile so many times. Usually it's because I've changed my mind as to where I want to put my food or my building resources. It's not really that annoying anymore now that I started using the option to have all stockpiles except the first one start with everything unselected. But it would still be quite nice to have a clone stockpile button.

I'm using GIMP.

The space between the shade and the base is so you can see the floor underneath it (I'm hoping it works that way). It would be a different color with the flooring tiles below it. As for the base, yeah I was looking at it in the attachment on here and noticed that it kinda makes the bulb not very visible. I'll give that a quick edit and post what I come up with. Thanks for the feedback Shinzy.

[edit to add] attached the changed version. Just recolored the base to be more of a darker wooden color. Hopefully the bulb is at least visible now. Any tips on what else I'll need to do to replace the standard standing lamp with this one (without overwriting the base game files)? Do I need to make more than one version of this image, like one with the light turned off probably?

Hey, I just downloaded an image editing program for the first time yesterday and have used some basic tutorials to get started on making custom textures. My first project is a standing lamp that looks like a standing lamp from a top down perspective. I'm definitely not quite where I want to be with it, but I figured I would share it here and get some opinions from people with more skill than myself and hopefully some tips on how to make it better. Please go easy on me since this is my first attempt ever.

Are you planning on adding bionics to this mod? Having a lone survivor made purely of bionic parts is definitely high on my to-do list. Maybe I'm just missing something.

It's a good idea--I will definitely consider adding it.

I second this notion.

lol nice. I haven't even had a chance to play the first version yet and you already came up with some additional content. I'll download this and play it in a while.

so all you have to do to get a +10 mood lift is take off the pants? Or do they have to be completely naked? I can see this being a bit OP but it's definitely a fun little mod. I downloaded it and will play it next time I play the game.

Help / Re: upside down textures in paint.net
October 10, 2014, 03:40:00 PM
ok thanks. but paint.net doesn't recognize .psd apprently. What do I need to do to open that file type?

[edit to add] GIMP opens them just fine. I'll just use that.

Help / upside down textures in paint.net
October 10, 2014, 03:22:49 PM
I decided to try my hand at making some new textures for things such as the standing lamp (which looks nothing like a standing lamp) but I've never done any image editing of any kind in my life so I'm pretty sure I'm going to do something wrong. I followed the instructions for texture editing in a post on here (though that was posted in 2013) and extracted all the .tex files as .dds files. Then I opened paint.net (after a failed attempt at installing plugins for GIMP) and I notice that every single image is loaded upside down. Is this supposed to be like that? Do I just edit the files while they are upside down and the game will flip them right side up? Did I maybe extract them the wrong way or something? There really needs to be a video tutorial on how to do basic texture editing specifically for Rimworld.

cause merry band of raiders in ribboned wigs would be too much

That could make for some very entertaining raids. I'd laugh all through being stomped by 100 raiders with bows in their hair.

Ok I downloaded it and will try it out on my next game. Just thought you should know you zipped the file one directory down from where you should have zipped it. When I unzipped it to my mods folder there were 4 new folders named _MACOSX About Defs and Textures. I just made a new folder named Sofa Mod and put those in there. Should fix the issue for those who don't know.

Ideas / Re: Cannibals
October 10, 2014, 07:56:34 AM
I second this. Tynan says he is looking for cheap ideas and this seems to fit the bill. Just adding a new faction with a new event could add a lot of depth. It would really be funny if the raiders set up a giant cook pot at their entry point and just hang around waiting for one of your colonists to wander out far enough from the colony so they can grab him and haul him back to the pot. Maybe give you enough time to send out a rescue team or something before they start butchering the poor fool. This would draw you out of your secure base even more effectively than the mechanoid crashed ship event because you don't have the fear of being instantly wiped out by a giant tank-like insect.

My reasoning for not liking the nexus download link was already addressed. I was under the impression that I had to sign up for yet another stupid account somewhere just to download a single mod. Apparently the pop-ups telling you that you can't download it till you sign up are misleading, though I haven't tried again yet. I just prefer the simplicity of a big button that says "Download" and nothing else pops up other than the "save or run" dialog. I like the mediafire link just fine because it is easy to see without searching all over the screen and because they don't lie to me and tell me I have to sign up. I prefer dropbox personally because that's just a simple white page with one big button that says Download. No other distractions and no advertisements or anything else. Download links shouldn't be so complicated in my mind. I would love it if the link that is posted leads directly to the "save or run" dialog rather than another website with another button. But if that's not an option then simple is better whatever you go with.

considering you say you aren't an artist, those couches look pretty darn good. I'll wait to download this for when the couches add more beauty than the stools do though.

I would not mind seeing these coupled with a new 1x2 coffee table. They don't look quite right at a big dinner table to me but they do still look better than stools. Maybe an idea for the future is to have Couches with coffee tables and some actually dining room chairs to go with the dinner tables. Also some 1x1 side tables could be a fun addition, though I believe someone already made some of those for another mod.

I like the idea of the Clutter mod, but I prefer my clutter to have some use other than just take up space and look pretty. Maybe you could make a "Functional Furniture" mod or something which just adds more skins for the various pieces of furniture (as well as more beauty than the standard versions) especially the standing lamp. Just a bare bulb on the ground doesn't look very good, or very lamp-like.

Hope you take these suggestions how they were intended. Good luck on your modding venture. Can't wait to see this one evolve. :)

Loving this. Excellent job! Now I can start my colony of psychopaths and cannibals as I wanted :)

That is exactly the first thing I did with this mod. It was pretty funny. I named the town Cannibalville and laughed at the poor saps who decided it was a good place to visit only to be kidnapped and butchered and served as a lavish meal on a cheap crappy wooden 2x2 table. I found that it's difficult to keep up the cannibal thing if you want to have more than your starting number of colonists though. I set a restriction on who I recruited to the colony as only psychopaths and or cannibals. Only had my starting 3 guys for the whole game (this was before you could add as many guys as you wanted). It was difficult but way fun.
