I couldn't agree more. Alot of emphasis has been placed upon Rimworld being about telling a story, one that you create and nurture. Yet I feel that my ability to properly create a scenario that truly is MINE is severely beholden to the [random] button.
I want to be able to choose every detail of my landing party. Age, backstory, traits (even though they don't do anything yet, its all part of the storytelling and if its wrong the story feels wrong), hair colour, even the character icon and clothing.

While I understand that this could open the door to being able to create the perfect 'super group' I don't think it would be a massively detremental addition to the game simply because it offers choice, and choice is good. Not everyone will make the best group possible, many people (myself included) will still mash the [random] button half a dozen times with their eyes closed and go with whatever comes up, because sometimes thats what I find fun. I would also have fun if I could choose to play a scenario that I had carefully crafted meticulously.

General Discussion / Re: Why did you back Rimworld?

I backed on the strength of Scott Manley's half hour YT video. Bought in immediately and after about 2 hours of play I was sat there with a cheesy fat grin on my face, knowing that i'd made a sterling purchase.

Of all the crowd sourced WiPs that i've bought into this is the one that I am enjoying watching the progress of the most. Nice community full of people who genuinly care about the game. Such a refreshing change to the usual contingent of asshats that saturate a game's forum :p

Rimworld, Starbound and Star Citizen.. not to mention Elite Dangerous and the fingers crossed hope that Shipbreakers actually happens. The future is looking mighty fine.

But.. but.. I *love* micro-management. Thats why my computer desk has permanently featured a pencil, pad of paper and a culculator for the last twenty years!

I found his game through Youtube, specifically Scott Manley, read the FAQs and joined the party.

Exactly the same for me... and now to load up for the first time!
