Besides Tynan: Quill18 made his first vid about Rimworld around 6 Months ago, in one of his Let's try vids!

Another option most forget it your onboard 'Snipping Tool' This is a sizable screen capture you can use that comes with 'Windows'...it's in your accessories folder. Others may be fancier, but this is something that does the job.

For me, they are things on girls t-shirts, something 3 people will wear as a costume, or something I used/ran into/saw whilst playing Dungeons and Dragons 20 years ago.
But apparently there is so much more, I did not know that...

Off-Topic / Re: What's your favorite game soundtrack?
April 16, 2014, 01:21:12 PM
For this game and any other similar (space themed) I have always chosen to listen to non-descript, ambiance. Symphonies of the Planets...
It's recordings from the Voyagers on board recording system. Truly a unique experience.
As far as actual 'game' soundtracks..most are uninspired. A few that have any real worth for music's sake....old games like Zelda, and Final Fantasy have their niches. Some current 'soundtracks' I use regularly use outside of the game itself:
1.Endless Space, jazzy space-trance.
2.Legend of Dungeon, kinda a modern 'dance mix' of old 8-bit glory.
3.Tropico, latin salsa.
Otherwise I'll listen to various bands..Galactic, Mudhoney, The Smiths, Slowdive to name a few.

General Discussion / Re: Music Similarity
April 16, 2014, 12:51:01 PM
Not sure about the Lynyrd Skynyrd reference, I have to check the old vaults for that one, I just hear Spaghetti Western music, as an overall influence.
..but good ear mate...not all can pull music apart and break it into little pieces. For instance, the Beatles are ripped time and time again...a little riff here, a note there. It common in music.

So has anyone given this a shot? Any stories of woe, moments of glory..The game is much more complicating than Vanilla Civ4.

Mods / Re: Community mods pack

How this could devolve into an argument on whether or not it is 100% a perfect solution to everything is mind boggling?

If a group of modders would like to work together...so be it
If a person is overwhelmed with to many options...so be it
If a person would like to download a few mods to get alot of mods...so be it
If a person would like to download every single mod 1 at a time ...so be it.
If a modder wants to work alone...so be it.
If a group of modders want to work together...so be it.
Small print because it's all been said before.

A simple way to get alot of 'early-noob-question-answers' would be to watch a few let's play's on youtube.
CristonianA
Quill18
GamersDissent
Tynan Sylvester(our very own)
I randomly chose these using the youtube search engine..keyword 'Rimworld'. For games that are current just add this month to the filter.

General Discussion / Re: Rescuing Downed Faction Members
April 16, 2014, 10:43:04 AM
There is a similar concept like this in Civ 5, where as you 'rescue' a captured worker/settler from the barbarians. The instant you defeat the barbarian you are posed with a question, give the unit back to receive a diplomatic bonus with said 'city-state' or keep it (no diplo-hit though).
Here on Rimworld, a similar thing can be done..I'm not sure if there is a point system set up for diplomacy, or if it's instantaneous, in regards to the diplo change. Imho, a point system seems more balanced. The fact that you did not murder, or let the member of the alternate faction just die should have some effect.
Something like +10points to save
+20points to return
-20 to murder
-10 to keep member
Say a scale of 1-100 starting at 50 for neutral..and so on...

i woude like to add that i had some prob with freandly fac. coming wen a raid is on and they get in the line of the crossfire and do not attack there enemy but get to become my enemy sins i have hit them more times so they get red , they just hang out around the bullets and its just a disaster wen all of the facs then become my enemy![]()

Well I like the idea of manned-turrets. Not so 'automatic'..maybe more accurate with ability to change rounds(ie armor piercing, combustible, napalm, ect...)
