Mods / Selective God Mode
September 08, 2015, 05:51:36 PM
I've put out the question a couple times but I thought I'd leave a thread here too.

Can anyone think of a method of applying god mode, similar to turning off colonist damage, to specific colonists?

EDIT:

Taking the advice from Latta in the slack chat, I've copied all the clothes, unstuffed the ones that are stuffed and did initial tweaks then generated a world and tried to load it. Which cropped up this error message. What does it mean in English?

DOUBLE EDIT:
Never mind. Clearing out AppData for a clean install fixed that. Probably a leftover from UO

TRIPLE EDIT:
Never mind this thread now, I've made the little mod for my friend.

So, mathematically, which is superior? Stacking clothes for higher damage resist or "stacking" armour for higher damage ablation? In the cases where a colonist is going to take hits, is it better to take lots of little hits or larger hits that could also not hit at all? I'm leaning towards going with armour over clothes, for the damage ablation. Suit everyone up in some high quality power armour.

Mods / Re: [Request] Bigger Doors
September 07, 2015, 09:44:33 AM
Minami, who made TechTreeMinami way back in like Alpha 9 or some such, had a "blast door" that seemed to operate as a removable wall, opening and closing on command rather than because pawns wanted to move through it. When up, it was solid and impassable, pawns couldn't see nor shoot through it and when down, pawns could move and shoot through it freely.

Support / Rimworld slow to load
September 06, 2015, 03:17:01 PM
Rimworld takes about 15 minutes to load to the main menu when mods are present in the mod folder, active or not. It takes another 15 minutes or so to look at the mod menu, another 15 minutes to leave the mod menu. All other parts of the game work fine, a save loads after a few seconds delay. With an empty mods folder, Rimworld takes 20-30s to load.

EDIT:
I exited the mod menu after making this post. This edit signifies Rimworld having finished loading the main menu.

One would assume he's asking if a pawn can pick up a gun and a melee implement and switch as needed whether automatically or on command.

I don't know if that's possible but pawns can carry things in their inventory so if they could carry their chosen sidearm in their inventory then maybe?

Sorry guys, I'm currently working full time and I've got a freelance project on the side that is taking up much of my free time. Once that's done (hopefully by the end of the weekend) I should have time to update Zombie Apocalypse.

I have no idea how long it will take me. It usually takes about 25-30 hours to update it from one Alpha to the next and I currently only have a couple hours to get work done on week nights, so the best I can say is it will be done when it's done.

It's literally like 5 posts before this one, come on.

Give a colonist a vanilla weapon, enlist them, enlist another colonist, take a potshot at second colonist with first. See if it looks more like Rimworld's RNG combat or more like the gifs posted by NIA earlier.

Updated to 30c.
Finally trade ship stock items can get infusions, too. Also fixed a bug where NPC equipment could get infusion again even after it already has it(or failed to).

Note: I scrapped my idea of manual infusion. It would be better if it stays random.

Aw, the thought of manual infusion spawned in my mind a picture of a colonist working at some tribal witchcraft station, focused intensely on enchanting equipment with "rerolling" the equipment taking longer and longer for the colonist to do as it gets more difficult to keep working the trade. Much like how in Diablo 3, you can reroll elements of your gear and that gets more and more expensive with each reroll until it gets to a point of is it worth another roll that may or may not turn out for better or for worse.

And I guess, if they're standing behind cover that is taller than where they shoot from, pawns will step out to shoot around the corner? Or will they just not shoot at that point? How does stepping out affect their cover?

Would that mean that a fill percentage of 0.70 is extremely defensible to stand behind? How does that part work? Is it still random chance for cover to take the hit instead of the pawn?

EDIT:

Ooh, and are mechanoid weapons tweaked the same? Charge Blaster/Lance, Incendiary Cannon and Minigun?

I'd much rather just have a pawn go into a rabbit hole with wooden/steel supports to mine deeper.

Ah, I remember the joy of ATTEMPTING to build a house in Towns. 10 hours in that failed game, I haven't successfully built a simple square box, let alone a castle or anything more elaborate. I've also lost towns to the townies quarrying the ground and then dying because they dug themselves into a pit they couldn't climb out of, which spawned ghosts that then totally wrecked my shit.

You can just use edit on your posts to make changes instead of making a triple post on it.

Hooray!  *downloads*

EDIT - I also would recommend this for inclusion with Vanilla.  My $0.02 USD.  :)

I just want one that uses plasteel and some other exotic material to make mechanoid weapons.

It looks like your modsconfig.xml could do with a quick change in build number to bring it up to date with Rimworld.

From my limited knowledge of the mechanics, replacing body parts, limbs especially with so many sub parts would result in less total health, but as a limb seems to take damage regardless of whether a subpart inside that limb does, I'm not sure it really matters. I could be totally talking out my arse right now, my analysis is based only on observation and looking at the bodyparts definitions for some creatures.
