I'm not sure if this is a bug but after I selected my character's gender (Male) and went to edit his clothes, his body and face and hair were still female.

Interesting thing about that... it turns out that the body is dependent on the Adulthood backstory. I'm sure Ty has his reasons for it, but when I went to check for some sort of 'Gender' variable for the backstory (to determine which gender graphics it would spit out) I couldn't find one. Soooo... we just gotta guess-and-check to see which backstory gives which gender graphics lol It should at least update the body/face when you change the Adulthood backstory.

The Clothing/Hair however, can be changed in the menus that pop-up when clicking "Change Clothing" or "Change Hair". I'd like to eventually add in buttons for changing the Skin Color and selecting a specific Body/Face, too.

That is good to know. I selected male based back stories. Child: Mercenary Adult: Frontier Marshal. My colonist lives on his own.

I encountered the psychic drone twice so far in the colony I'm playing at the moment. Perhaps I was lucky (or Randy is being charitable), but they caused me very little trouble. Both of them together caused only one of the prisoners I was holding to rampage, and two of my colonists - one in each event - to feel a bit down in the dumps. I'd like to thank the power of plantpots, rosebeds, and fine meals for keeping people sane. :p

Even had more bad stuff happened, it's a cool effect - so I won't be updating! :D

When the event hits me I make everyone a member of the Holy Sh*t look at all those roses Club.

Ah! That works too, thanks! I'd still love there to be sort of a "Hold down CTRL or ALT while dragging to ignore colonists and select only items" button, but I can post that up in the suggestions board later.

Thanks for the help!

No problem, happy to help. Ask if there is anything else wrong and I'll try to help you.

Will there be wooden window frames in the future? Because right now a lot of my buildings are made out of wood and the metal window frame texture doesn't really fit with the wooden walls.
I have no plans for it. It is not difficult to do add variants for each wall material but it would clutter up the Architect tab.

It is alright, shortly after I posted this and built my first window I realized that it covers the entire square so it looks good.

Here's a way to counter the old psychic drone event.

Put your colonists in cryptosleep :D Pop them out when it's over.

Of course you'll need a few cryptosleep pods, but they're the easiest part of the ship to build.

Do the Cryo Pods freeze your colonist's needs and mood for as long as they stay in them?

Of course, they're asleep!

Imagine a bunker built into the side of a mountain. As you enter, you hear nothing apart from a low humming. Upon further exploration, you discover that there is no-one in the bunker. You enter a previously locked room and discover the source of the humming. 50 cryo pods, all full.

Update for Alpha 5. Broken windows and glass doors now leave broken glass that your colonists will clean up.

Hi there! I'm new to the forums and I'm new to RimWorld, and so I wanted to ask a question real quick about the game.

I'm having some trouble selecting multiple items at the start of the game, as the selection box seems to want to prioritize selecting my colonists over selecting the items they're near - in particular I want to un-forbid the items in the colonists' landing site, so they can add them to stockpiles as soon as possible. Is there any way to force my selection box to only select items and ignore colonists (Like holding down a button while I drag out my selection box), or do I just have to use an alternate method (Waiting until my colonists move out of the way before I try and select multiple items, for instance)?

It's a minor inconvenience at most, but it is slightly frustrating trying to select everything in the landing site and instead selecting all of my colonists!

Just double click on an item and it selects all of that item in the immediate area.

What if it only affected some colonists? Maybe that would make the event more interesting, since even if some were going crazy you'd still have the immune ones to get you through the disaster. Thoughts?

That sounds awesome. Certain people in your colony with a high resolve/high willpower, who can resist the Psychic Drone.

Hey guys!
I used to watch a lot of anime shows but I've kinda lost interest in the ones I've watched.
So, I wanted to know:

What is you most favorite anime?
Mine is Angel Beats and Clannad(Both Seasons)

TheNinjaBun <3

Most likely Soul Eater. Though Fairy Tail is going up in my list.

It's essentially an endgame. Once your colonists enter the longsleep pods, you can launch the ship and the AI gets them somewhere safe.

Vagineer1 is almost right but my reply would read:
"It's essentially an endgame. Once your colonists enter the longsleep pods, you can launch the ship and the AI experiences 0.0001s of gratitude before it ditches the organic labourers to burn up in the atmosphere that they had enabled it to escape;-    the added weight was fuel-inefficient."

The AI wasn't GLaDoS was it?

Could someone tell me what happens if you build the spaceship and launch it? I am not at home right now so I can't see for myself  :-\

This is a survival game and the 3 things vital to survival are water/food/shelter.

I have to agree with you. Over two thirds of the Survival games I've played, whilst good, lack the water mechanic. I personally think it would be essential for any survival game.

You gotta be hospitable! :D

They didn't even pay for it Ty! If they asked "Can we have some food for the trip please? We can pay you in silver?" then I would say yes.
