i can play the game with mods, i just cant make worlds with them

Can you make a world without the mods enabled?
Check if any errors are being generated in console.
Do you have the mod order correct? Do some mods need to be ordered before others?

Consider these questions.

Stories / Re: Ship crash

In my webcomic i just started the story line where the ship crashed on a planet.

http://lid-comic.smackjeeves.com/

I actually didnt even think of rimworld when writing it, i wrote it long before i started playing.  Now that I caught up i figured id post it.  Tempted to insert a few comics to spoof rimworld.  Any ideas for some brief bits i should put in?

Maybe something to do with a bunch of psychotic squirrels? Like, maybe the city they crashed into was ruled by a bunch of psychotic squirrels.

Mods / Re: [mod request] Bone items

I'd love to be able to craft items and weapons out of bone.  When animals die on the map, the decay and eventually leave behind a bone corpse. It would be good to make cool things from them...

1. Weapons
2. Furniture
3. Bone statues - that work similar to the Giblet Cage, that scares enemies and frightens prisoners.
4. Tools.

Or, if you want to get really crazy...
5. Golems - If you want to go the fantasy route.
6. Bone decorated robot fires - to strike fear in the enemy (maybe make them a little harder to hit?)

This is 'kinda being added into Project EONS. In Project EONS, animals will give bones when slaughtered, and bones can be made into special bone weaponry, but I might be able to incorporate some of the ideas (not all) that you've provided. In a perfect world, bone walls would be added, too.

One day left, and it's a three-way tie! Personally, I'd like World-Wars but this is coming from the community, not from the developers. (Although I can't promise some world-war esque stuff won't be added. ;))

Ideas / Pages in Architect, or a scroll bar?
March 17, 2015, 12:35:57 PM
I'm looking for a rather simple suggestion, this one is similar to an old mod that was released around the time of alpha 3. I'm just looking for the addition of pages in the architect menu, because sometimes with a lot of mods (I always play with lots of mods for some reason, but I've been cutting down recently.) the UI gets cluttered and I only have access to 3/4 - 1/2 of the screen.

Another thing that would be useful would be a scrollbar for the categories. I know that not many mods do use this but I've tested adding more categories with Project EONS, and with about 3 new categories I can already tell that it could get very tall without more categories.

Simple enhancements is all I'm asking for. :)

@Tynan - Napping?

edit: Possibly an RNG, where if the number is less than or equal to 0.33 it is a dream, if the number is greater than 0.33 but less than 0.66 it is a normal nap, and it if is greater than or equal to 0.66 it is a nightmare, each with corresponding joy values?

Ideas / Colonists --> Survivors/Citizens/Refugees
March 17, 2015, 12:23:56 AM
Can we be serious here? The game shouldn't be calling our space-crash survivors colonists. Colonists are where it's intended to build a city/town somewhere and live there - I think a better suited name would be survivors, citizens or refugees because colonist basically implies that it's intended that they were to crash and land on a Rimworld.

Here's some weird blue ray gun... thing. I don't know. I was focused on texturing something else and then I got sidetracked and made this.

I guess it's a weird blue glowy raygun. Feel free to use at your own disposal.

Note:texture is 64x64, just to let you guys know for some reason.. ?

Why aren't your non-combatant colonists drafted to keep them out of harms way during a fight anyways? O_o

I normally just keep mine locked in a room with some food in it, and a few beds and change the owners of the beds to be them.

Positive Activities:
- Playing pool
- Hunting animals
- Swimming (?????)
- Playing cards
- Listening to music (maybe something like record players with music discs)

Negative Activities:
- "I killed a man."
- Burying dead bodies
- Cremating corpses
- Stripping prisoners
- Beating prisoners
- Killing prisoners
- Killing incapacitated people

<!-- ============ maybe some joy bonuses? ================= -->

If the joy bar is close to full, maybe colonists could have increased speed, a moodlet effect, and a better global work speed? Maybe some opposite-stat-deterioration where instead of slowly losing stats they gain them very slowly? and the opposite for non-joy

I use Expanded Prosthetics, but I've never seen Minus' mod, so I'll have to check that out before I make my decision. Don't want to be bias.

Ultimately it would be cool to play a colony with no electricity but simple meals at the start make sense and would be helpful for now.

Look for Progression Overhaul in the unfinished section. This might be what you're looking for. :)

I made a concept around Terrastellar Enterprises, basically someone who is focused on incapacitating your colonists rather than killing them.

Terrastellar Enterprises

Terrasteller Enterprises dominates the planet Terra. The planet, being a majority-share empath planet, does not kill other individuals, but instead incapacitates them. That being said, Terrastellar Enterprises creates shock weaponry that incapacitate colonists and enemies.

Terrastellar Enterprises.
"Quality Enforcement."

Armour Variant:
Think of something like "Hayabusa" from Halo 3. Basically that, but named "Zephyr" Support Armour.
