My main beef with components is how often things break. I mine absolutely every component deposit I see early, simply so I have a large stock of components to cover breakdowns and construction. But if you like autodoors as much as I do, you get a breakdown every day or so and it's very expensive.

But you agree that you create the problem and it's not a balance issue?

Components are fine as they are. Ive never had a problem with them running out. If you are running out, you are simply teching up too quickly and being over ambitious. As long as you have a food source you can live for a pretty good amount of time without anything else.

What is the point even having the mechanic in the first place if you want it nerfed to the point it's not an issue?

A lot of it is down to how well you can control the battle rather than the equipment you have.  You want things to hide behind and run to everywhere, so when yor colonists are getting shot at you can pull them back while the rest of your colonists keep shooting.

I always make a stockpile next to the bench and make it so only the crafting items can be placed in it.

Ideas / Fog of war?

It would be nice to have the option, I love playing on large maps and it would be nice to explore them.

I would hate having auto-equip because when a colonist is about to break you don't want them to have a weapon because they will kill everybody.

General Discussion / Toxic Fallout

How long does it last now with the changes to how the time works?

Currently 4 out of 9 of my colonists have gutworm, which means my food stores will drop pretty rapdily once I've butchered the dead animals from the fallout. I'm working on hydroponics research right now but I really don't want to have to build it if I can wait it out. I'm on day 5 of fallout so far....

Why the rush? Component assembly is very late game, you have 60 components and can buy more from traders if you need to. I think you are trying to tech up too quickly and thats why you hit this wall where you can't find gold.

Winrar is good, you get a few popups but I don't notice them, and you are only using it once to open the game anyway.

It gives you something to work for. The game would be pretty boring if you can build everything within 10 days.

Ideas / Re: "Gay" as a trait

I'm not sure why it was ever put into the game, it doesn't bother me that it's in game, but it does bother me that people can't play a game without worrying about the sexual orientation of game characters these days. This issue crops up in every game now despite the fact it has zero effect on gameplay, it even crops up in games which the target audience is not even old enough to understand the issue, it's silly.

General Discussion / Re: Refrigeration Question

I'm not sure you can. I would suggest only having 1 hopper to minimize the amount of food that could spoil. Personally I always like to have a huge freezer so I can make a ton of meals to sell to traders at the beginning of the game.

Ideas / Negotiation skill

The better the negotiation skill, the better the prices become when buying and selling (up to 50% max at level 20 seems reasonable).

Don't rush to research stuff. You can live for a surprisingly long time without research and the extra pair of hands building up your initial colony makes things x10 easier later.

General Discussion / Re: Tortoises OP?

Most likely what has happened is the bear did kill the tortoise but sustained an injury in the fight and died by bleeding to death.
