I think a good addition to the game would be the requirement to use ammunition in weapons. A variant of this can be seen with the mortars however, i think the addition of bullets would not only make the game harder but, add to the realism and story telling effect of the whole game. It would also help to push the use of melee weapons and equipment (something which i don't utilize often not sure about other people).
This is something in which i have struggled to find among mods and would love to see implemented in the base game.

I had just made my 3 characters (James, Gizmo and Jenny) and found the perfect place I was surrounded by cliffs on two ways in and out (I was so happy).
Immediately after spawning i did the usual get wood metal houses... after about 5 minuets a pirate assault started to happen, needless to say after 2 minuets i was being shot at,and I was about to loose but at that moment a tribe passed by and since the pirates were focused on me the tribe annihilated them letting me collect a few prisoners, Minnie guns and some power suit armor Luckiest game ever.
