Ideas / Set worktables to work with stockpiles

It's kind of intricately to always define a radius for the worktables, instead it would be more comfortable to just tell the colonists which stockpile they should take the ingredients from.

Example: When starting the game I always clear the area of annoying rock debris, so after a few days I have a huge stockpile full of rock. When I reaserch stone cutting and build the table, I have to define a radius so that the stockpile is included, but the crafter now also takes every other rock debris in the designated area, so it takes longer to actually discharge the stockpile.

Bugs / [W|0.5.492; Alpha 5] Two Bugs regarding Food

1.: Survival Meals

This existed already in Alpha 4 so I don't know if it's a bug or intentional, if so please explain why. The colonists are ignoring filled and powered Paste Dispensers, instead they run over the whole map to eat the last few survival meals. In the second I'm writing this I'm haveing the idea that it might be because of higher food quality, but this is no reason for running kilometers (the paste can't be THAT bad).

2.: The Food Fighters

Whe I had two visitors today, they became hungry and took two of my meals out of my stockpile. Then a colonist set to haul things hauled them back to the stockpile while there where eating them, then the visitors hauled them back and continued eating them, then the colonist hauled them and so on. Finally, my colonist gave up and they finished eating them. I must admit that it was very funny but I don't think it should happen.

I can't remember to see any dry thunderstorm on this planet in my life. Unfortunately I'm not smart enough to tell if/why thunderstorms need/alaways come with rain. So feel free to enlight me.

Now that I'm thinking of it I wonder why noone already had this idea (or maybe I just didn't see it on the forums). Set a zone and your designated hunter(s) will hunt everything what enters that zone.

Bugs / No roof region doesen't remove stone roofs

I think someone noticed this before but I didn't find it the forums or on mantis so I will post here to be sure. If you create a no roof region it doesen't remove stone roofs which is kind of bad if you build underground.

I'm pretty sure in Vanilla RW there weren't those giant fields of bushes an agaves, currently I run the Big Bang Modpack V:A3E. Anyone knows which mod causes that?

Tynan, who in your one-man company had the unutterable ridiculous idea to make what seems like 50% of all characters unable to fight fires?

It's already hard to find new colonists since Alpha 3 as I stated in this thread.

And it's even harder to sell a prisoner who could be a valuble member of the colony, but someone who pees himself when he's told to blew out a candle simply has no place in this world.

Due to the lack of late-game content it would be nice if we had some objects like a pool table or a kicker or just a couch to chill out which aren't related to a job but are automatically used if a colonist has nothing more to do, so that they go have a drink at the bar or have a nap instead of wandering around.

I'm running several mods right now and one of them adds the material "Wire spool" which is used to build power conduits. Now you also can research buried conduits which cost also metal. Now here's the problem:

One tile buried conduit costs 3 metal and 3 wire spool. If you build like 10 tiles the first colonists take 30 wire spool and puts it into the conduits, just like usual. But now the second colonist doesn't take 30 metal but takes 3 metal, builds on tile conduit, then he takes the next 3 metal building the next tile and so on.

I don't know if you have buildings using multiple resources in vanilla Alpha 4 but one day they will be there so I thought this is worth mentioning.

Atm I've got many problems recruiting new colonists. My main source were the visitors, but now they're all from a faction, and if you catch them they get angry with you and attack :(

So the only remainning sources are escapepods, slavetraders and surviving combatans, but all three of the are very rare (and expensive for the slavetrader), and even if you have one the chance that they're not useless is very low because since Alpha 3 there's a ton of new characters and most of them doesen't have very stisfying stats. I also don't recruit everyone to have 50 colonists but to have like 8-10 colonists, but all specialist.

So we have a low amount of potential new colonists and a low chance for every potential new colonist not to be disappointing. So please ad neutral vistors again OR a possibility to convince visitors from other factions to join your colony (or both).

Support / [Solved] RimWorld crashes my PC

Sice the Alpha 3 release my Laptop just crashes all the time, like 7 or 8 times. First I thought this thing was broken but it's happening only during playing RimWorld. I already made a anti-virus scan but it keeps crashing. Can anyone help me? It's really getting on my nerves and I don't think it's good for my machiene too :(

Just to clarify:
An eclipse is when the moon is between the planet and the sun.
A solar flare is when a particle storm from the sun hits the planet.
So how can a solar flare hit the planet during an eclipse?

Often I see screenshots of the game in this forum, but when I try to make one via the print-button, it makes a screenshot of my desktop and not of the game. Any ideas how to fix this?

Bugs / Colonists ignoring food

One of my icapacitated colonists almost starved because the doctor ran across the whole map to get a bunch of potatoes (empty hopper/he was the only colonist not in coma) instead of taking them out of the stockpile 5 squares away. And it's not that he just ignored the food in the stockpile, there was food like 20 squares away from the colony but he took what was 60 squares away. And berries get ignored completly, when this occures, the guy takes potatoes all teh time and it happened with different colonists and in different games too. It doesen't happen always, but often enough to be annoying.

Ideas / Preferences when choosing Colonists

Maybe you could add a system, that when you start the game and pick the colonists to start with, you can tell the game what you want, e.g. a charackter with high mining or farming skills, or one with a decent reaserch skill who is also good at constructing and crafting. OR one who is not INCAPABLE OF EVERYTHING BESIDES SHOOTING. It would be much more easier then clicking the randomize button millions of times, because I don't start till I get the characters I want, and it would be optional so you don't have to use it.

And please let us build things on mapedge again, this is REALLY annoying.

I really like the new version but what the fuck did you do to the Muffalos. In one moment they look like giant heads, the next they are undefinable peaces of meat, the next moment they are bushes?!?!? (I can't make pictures, because when I try I get a picture of my desktop and not the game)
And why can't I build anything near the map, my colony almost got wiped out because of a gap in my nothern wall!
And it would be great if you could interact with visitors from other factions, to become friends and trade and so on.

But I have to say that the music is fucking amazing, I almost cried because it's so incredible. And the german translation is good, too. Much better then I expected. And I feel like it has a smoother framerate then the other builds, after a time they started lagging like hell, especially when I zoomed out.

All in all it's a great new version, but I feel like on drugs when I look at the Muffalos long enough :)

Someday, when the game is optimised to play the larger maps and there is some fog of war, so you can't see the entire map from the start, it would be awesome if you could find the ruins of the colony you played in a former game which was destroyed by raiders or, even better, if you just deleted the safe because you wanted a new game, your old people are still there and have expanded, so maybe there are friendly or may attack you, or you attack them or trade with them.
