Hmm. While I have not lost a lot to mech melee damage, It is still less than dying by inferno cannon.

General Discussion / Re: How often do you put organs in your colonists?
December 27, 2014, 10:52:10 PM
I think I have done 1 heart and 2 kidney transplants. So far I usually don't keep a lot of extra organs around, although if someone is brain damaged and more or less useless I take out one kidney, lung, and then their heart before sending them to the butcher table for further "recycling".
Looking over that I think I may have issues. Might be habits from dwarf fortress.

I found out just now that you don't need to use hydroponics tables to grow indoors. If the ground is dirt or other plantable surface you can grow inside if it is bright or warm enough. I don't know why it took me so long to find this out. winters just got a lot easier now that i don't need to find the metal for 30 hydroponics bays.

Melee attacks also reset the cool down for ranged weapons. Against mechs i find melee weapons to be the best because it wont let them get a shot off with one of their supper guns. I did not know that knives attacked so fast, I will need to start making a few.

General Discussion / Re: 2 ( stupid ) questions
December 27, 2014, 05:43:46 PM
1. I have not heard anything about multiplayer so I do not think it is a planned feature.
2. Z levels have been talked about a lot. Every 3 weeks or so it is brought up. Each time it is the same. It is not planned because literally adding a dimension to the game would change it dramatically from what it is now. It would be too hard to implement without breaking anything and it is not the direction the game wants to go.
welcome to the rim.

General Discussion / Re: Cryptosleep Caskets - Practical usability?
December 19, 2014, 06:26:30 PM
If i get a lot of wounded at once I put some of the more seriously hurt into cryo sleep until I can treat them. Also some pawns that can do nothing but fight ( assassins and nobles) I put them to sleep until raiders show up to save on food.

General Discussion / Re: Tips and Tricks for Rimworld

This may seem crazy, but going into melee with centipedes is a good idea. Each time a centipede is hit it resets its weapon cool down. I set one guy to punch it, and the others to shoot it. If i do it right, the centipede never gets a shot off. There is a risk of friendly fire, but it is still less than if the centipede managed to fire its mini gun or inferno cannon.

General Discussion / Re: So Ancient Cryosleep pods
December 12, 2014, 12:00:08 AM
Fist time I opened the pods I got 2 hostiles and 4 injured people. Killed the hostiles, and took the wounded back to my base. The prison was filled to the brim. One died of wounds, one was recruited, and the other 2 kept going crazy and attacking one another until I just threw a grenade into the room to be done with them. They also kept dropping green slime, so for a while I was concerned that those people had been frozen with some fatal sickness while others looked for a cure and then forgotten until I had brought them back. Ended up being nothing but sure was fun.
10/10 would open the matrix again.

I love the mindset of gamers. Given a new feature to help keep our people a live and make the game more realistic, the first thing we think of is a way to kill people with it

General Discussion / Re: How cold to keep food from spoiling?
December 11, 2014, 11:29:28 PM
Like they said, 0C to stop them from rotting, but normally a good idea to put it to -1 or -2 C. heat goes though open doors and I think walls, so at 0C you food will still decay, just at a VERY slow rate. Be careful not to make your fridge to big or cold, lost a guy in my super cold corpse room ( emergency rations).
