General Discussion / Re: Development Stopped?

That is what makes Rimworld unique. Always room to add more and make it more fun and a deeper overall experience.

Enjoy your trip Tynan. I'm happy to hear development continues under your direction. :)

Six months is too long. Three months I can live with but rimworld won't be getting updates for SIX months?! It is the end times...
I swapped back to KSP for a while. Been too long.

Also lots of good games coming out soon...

Correct, clockwork empires and KSP have tided me over but no game shall ever match rimworld. Clockwork has come a long way recently. I wonder what will be next for Rimworld after his vacation. More weapons? Armor/weapon crafting? More script events? Better raids?

I wonder where plasteel comes in at. I always construct walls and turrets out of it when I get the chance since it has so much of a higher hit point value.

Probably 0 I'd guess.

General Discussion / Re: How do you play?

I use the console for simple stuff, so I guess I fall into comforted... but I never force flee and have been enjoying a two colonist start and keeping my colony small and efficient. I hope the dev console stays in the final game. It has seriously added hundreds of hours to gameplay for me. Sometimes if I get bored I'll add traits to my two colonists or trigger weather events.

May I just say I'm LOVING all the new music and audio additions as they come to the game. Keep up the great work! Also, noticed the new credits/outro screen after everyone takes off. Love it.

Just when I think rimworld can't get any better, Tynan goes and releases another update...

I hope so. The last guy I worshiped told us he'd be back and that was 2000 years ago...

This made me chuckle. Clever.

As much new content, and a UI change, I sure hope the bug catching and fixing are in high gear, as september 1 is quickly approaching.  Would hate to have major bugs still in the game when Tynan leaves for his sabbatical.

Is September the 1st when Our Lord and Saviour Tynan goes on his six month hibernation?

No its the day the world ends...

The whole setting kind of falls apart after some careful examination, yes

If the tribals have been on the planet for even 1000 years, why haven't they discovered iron, or even copper, yet?

If the Outlanders have been there for longer than you, why don't they also work on building a ship to escape?

We still have tribals today that continue their culture and customs. It's not that they don't know of it, they just do not engage and hold true to customs. Tribes in the amazon, aboriginals in Australia, Amish in the US, Tribes in Mongolia and China, Monks in Nepal and India... the list goes on. Plenty of people shun this crazy modern day society and technology.

Secondly, on the same token, what if these said outlanders had no access to plasteel or chose to use that in their base and stay instead of return to an inner world? Look at some of the colonist backgrounds. Not every place close to civilization is paradise. Post apocalyptic ruined worlds, hive minds, imperial totalitarian facist worlds... its not all rainbow and sunshine kid. Maybe the colonists thought they were just fine living a country lifestyle of self independence and self reliance?

Two cents,

Cheers.

I noticed prisoners and visitors also don't use joy items when they are held/visiting...

Ideas / Re: Your Cheapest Ideas

Bookshelf.

Use art similar to the equipment rack for weapons.

1x2 tile, 50 wood to build. Bill "learn topic" would include every skill the colonists have. Bill "read novel" would be a joy activity.

Have a function similar to the beds where you may assign an individuals shelf or leave as common use.

Colonists would learn skill topic at .5 of normal speed of physically doing the task.

This idea came from my frustration of my level 18 surgeon's medicine skill ticking away because I hadn't had anyone sick or needing treatment in months. I wasn't prepared to shoot a healthy colonist so she could practice. Books while slower would at least add a way to maintain a upper level skill set.

Cheers

"I don't like that farmers chop people up."

Obviously she has already played Rimworld :P

Hahahah it's an ice-sheet kid. People get hungry. Some people go good with ketchup. Get over it and eat your raider burrito. Then go to your room.
