That looks amazing! A run w/o dozens of people trying to blow your stuff up is starting to sound like fun. I'm curious as to the function of the double wall around the outside? Is that a security or aesthetic thing? All I'm used to is an emmense stone wall 4+ layers thick.

Why build a 4 thick wall, when a wall built like that totally confuses the AI sappers. They may blow a couple of holes in the exterior wall, but rarely ever get to the interior wall.   I used to fill the air space between the wall with IED's but found them to be more of a pain for me, than deadly to the raiders...

And although this is a no raid story teller, I still get events from the miscellaneous mod, the expedition events can bring back huge raids, the artifacts spawn mechs, so it was built for security since it is a very rich colony.

Giant walls are just what I'm used to. That's why I'm asking, so I can find better ideas. I figured by your OP that there were raids of some sort, but not to the scale / frequency of the "usual" story teller.

Off-Topic / Re: Durable long-lasting smartphone?

My blackberry z30 has yet to let me down. I take it to work everyday and where I work is extremely dusty with metal dusts and usually 80% humidity or greater. Its outlasted my coworkers' I phones and galaxies. At my work thus far I phones seem to have the shortest life expectancy. For management they provide a paid for work phone, black berries are the only phones they'll pay for anymore after running in to too many durability issues with the others, HTC included in that one. My z 30 only has a 5mp camera but it still takes decent pictures. Has blue tooth as well. Its a fair size as well.

There is no "create zone x in radius y" method in CCL.  The radius which the sunlamp uses for creating the grow zone is it's specialDisplayRadius.  This is the radius which is "fully lit".

As to adding a general purpose comp to CCL which one could specify the zone and radius as well as the icon and text for the gizmo is possible too I suppose...

Don't worry about it if it's a pain in the butt. I was more or less just asking if I was missing something.

I believe Tynan has been talking about fixing the animal food system. Not sure if this particular issue will be adressed, but for now a quick fix is to just make a separate stockpile in your fridge by the door for hay and then only let the cows and critters into that area of the fridge using the animal zones.

Okay I was hoping to be able to figure this out w/o having to bug you but it seems I'm still a Derp :( Is there a functionality within CCL to allow a building to create a zone around itself such as what trade beacons and sunlamps do?

I just want to know if I can define within my sunlamp's .xml file to let it create growing zone with a radius of "x" so to speak.

I will keep poking around in the modders' resources but my brain doesn't want to co-operate right now.

Bamboo floor update!... I got mad at it and rage quit :( textures are really not my forte regardless of how hard I try.

Side note: Is BioMatter and BioDiesel supposed to be sellable? I've yet to see a trader carry it, or accept it for sale. Just wondering in case it's a mod conflict on my end.

This seems like a good opportunity to do the last bit of HD conversion for wood floors (512px -> 1024px). Some of the wood floors seemed a bit out of scale, too, and handily the HDification seems to have fixed that. Hopefully the tiling of the textures isn't too noticeable.

Easiest quiz ever: Which of these do you reckon is the new barn board floor? :D

I'll take #3 for 500!... Wait.. why can't I has? Not ready yet, or am I a dork?  :'(

Draw an epic tribal dude! ( or dudette ) I'm trying to do a "tribal weapons & armor only" challenge so that vote came with perfect timing :P plus the tribes are my favorite factions to make new "friends" from.

Oooh, it's Washington state! It's not too bad. Just wait until you forget that little popup message about beavers.
Beavers SUCK now they will eat all of your trees instead of starving then leaving the map

I always thought beavers = food delivery... so do manhunter packs! I've been saved on an ice sheet play through by a packs of wargs.

Was all that fire from a flash storm?

The presence of a glitterworld faction on the world implies that there's a working spaceport somewhere.

Ok, so why am I working my (censored) off trying to survive on this godforsaken mudball, when I could be making my way to the glitterworld base and hitching a ride off this rock? Forget building a base. Time to travel. We can eat off the land as we journey there. If we collect a few resources on the way and spend a few hours a night tinkering, we could probably get a radio working to see about getting someone to meet us halfway. Or even just coming to pick us up. We're not here because we want to be, after all.

I understand that logic very well... But this is RimWorld!!! I can't help but to think that story line would wind up being along the lines of " Wow, we finally got this radio working and they told us they'd come pick us up right away! Wait... why do our rescuers have so many guns?... Wtf is with that cage over there?!"

*Entire party gets sold in to slavery by pirates...*

I agree though having a glitterworld faction on the planet kinda takes away from the lore of "being stranded on a distant RimWorld"

I brought up the focus water pump because in ford's infinite wisdom they designed the engine compartment in such a way that there physically isn't enough room to get the pump out ( it's recessed in to the bottom of the engine ) you have to undo your passenger side motor mounts and GENTLY lower your engine by 3 1/2 inches to get the pump to clear the frame... As I said before Stupid Ford Focus!

Ps: I've written my own mods as well, only one is still relevant though because the other two sucked :P

Anywhoozle I'mma gonna go back to shutting up now, CHEERS!

You're still taking for granted a level of computer literacy that not everyone has. Again, given the information you had posted, I could probably do it; you made me aware that these variables are in unencrypted xml files that can be changed without really needing knowledge of programming languages that I don't have. But I really doubt the average computer end user could do it without detailed instructions that you seem to be averse to giving.

Also, if you're trying to imply that someone that is not capable of figuring out how to make the modification on their own is someone without a brain, I'd like to challenge you to go out to your car and replace the thermostat. It's a simple process, really. Anyone with a brain, a socket wrench, and a pair of pliers should be able to figure it out.

I'm self taught when it comes to modding, I'm not great at it but I figured it out on my own w/o instructions. Xml modding is more or less "if then => so" logic level. It's not even about having a brain to be able to figure it out, it's about having the self drive to open up the game folder and poke at it to see how it works.

As for car repair, I've replaced the water pump on my stupid Ford focus before work w/o anyone telling me how to do it. That's a bit more involved than a thermostat if you've ever tried to replace one on a Focus.

I'm not saying all this to come off with a "better than thou" attitude, quite the contrary actually. I am but a mere factory worker with only a high school level of education. I guarantee there are people far smarter than I that just can't be bothered to figure the stuff out.

Ideas / Re: Forbid / Unforbid Order

A few alphas ago there was a mod that unforbid everything in the home zone. It might be worth it to hunt for it and see if somebody could revive it.
