Yeah, no.  You should remember your posts don't magically disappear; your tone and intent is quite clear, along with the actual words used.

Feel free to expire in a high-temperature, reductive environment.

Neither do yours.

Start taking your own advice.

My theory is let's keep the game fun for the majority of people and you psychopaths can find that mod and use it if you like.
Psychopaths?

Murder is OK
Torture is OK
Haresting organs is OK
Creating drug addicts is OK

But we can't have sex..nope, no. Worst thing in the history of forever.

It never ceaes to amaze me just how desperate some people are to try and claim the unexisting moral high ground and huw utterly fu*** up their moral compass and priorites are.

Still in denial.
Still no answers to my questions. Shouldn't be too hard to answer them if you are so correct.

Here, a little something just for you.

you could even have turrets that CAN be tricked/blocked in one way, and turrets that cannot.

This would be an interesting approach to turret upgrades. Different ability of Friend-Foe recognition.

If the turrets truly only used radar and/or thermal imaging, they would shoot at anything that fits the target parameters.
i.e. it moves, it looks vaguely human

Usually (at least in RL experiments), base staff would have IFF chips on them to prevent turrets from shooting them. Fun fact - early experiments ended up in a LOT of dead animals and spent ammo. Apparently, no one thought of telling a turret to STOP shooting.

Also, thermal targeting in deserts - not a good idea.

Now I see a pattern:

2 cases do not make a pattern.
You need a bigger sample size, friend.

Further Sources of Information :

Prisoners in the form of Slaves, Escaped or Freed.

Did you see that prison of those guys ? .. Sure the cut of both my legs .. but man even Prison was more comfortable than our leaders private quartes.

Yes.
Given that my prison doubles as high-class brothel (when needed), its is VERY luxurious. My prisoners have hot tubs, masterwork quality posh beds, arcade machines, pianos and all sorts of entertainment.
Plus a huge outdoors area with trees, flowers, tiny lake and stuff.

My colony can't even feed itself. We don't even have herbal medicine. The map is so poor we can't set foot outside without being hunted by the stray, starving predators that wander in.

I can't bribe other factions with pity.

...but why would anyone want to raid you?

Because it makes for an engaging story and drama?

One time, I had a massive infestation...40 hives or so
I had a whole bunch of super-humans armed and armored to the teeth and special rooms and defenses prepared just for that. Slaughtered them all. Left a few hives and 1-2 bugs in the isolated cavern part of my base.

Some time after aroudn 40 Kurin drop-podded and came to "help". Draggin dirt tough my whole bese, they heroically killed 2 spelopodes and 2 hives, while only sustaining 2 casualites and 2 wounded (which I wasted meds on saving).

Anyway, if you want to go down that horrifying rabbithole, RimJobWorld is for you, and I hope randy drops flaming death on all your colonists.

Horrifying rabbithole? Standing on a high horse much?

I'm running an excellent 5 start brothel using prisoners from failed raids. I do relesae the mafter some time (too crowded) or even recruit some.
Half the factions on the map are my buddies/allies (trough d***, unity!)
My base is better defended than the Emperors Palace and the starship engine has 5 days left to go.

Randy is on my side.

You can believe exactly as you like, that drives nothing for anyone else but you.  Deal with it; that's how subjective opinion works, no matter how bunched and twisted your undies get.

Expect when asked to defend your position, you got nothing. No argument. No proper defense. No proper reasoning.
Only jelling "it's subjective."
The last resort of the desperate.

Maybe the fog doesn't block whatever radar the turrets use?

If the turret uses radar. They might use thermal imaging or something else. Experimental sentry turrets use regular cameras and image recognition software.
you could even have turrets that CAN be tricked/blocked in one way, and turrets that cannot.

There are plenty of mods that add various tools. But I think they all just increase the working speed without drastically lowering the baseline. Not sure though. It's a good idea though

I'm saying go beyond lowering the baseline. Without tools SOME things should be downright undoable.

But that also means smart tool managment. the AI being smart enough to pick and and return tools as needed (preferred solution) or carry tool on them (without taking up the weapon slot)

Solar flares affecting mechanoids.

Mechanoids being attracted to your base based on electric output.

Raiders based on percieved wealth (specifically in areas in which trade caravans and guests are allowed)

Other factions based on distance and standing and percieved defenses.

I meant exactly what I said.  Furthermore, your attitude is crap; no one was being shitty to anyone  here, until YOU showed up.

Feel free to expire in a high temperature, reducing environment.

If you consider disagreeing "being shitty", then sure.
Otherwise, no.

Feel free to have a nice day.

It's rare you have a picture to encapsulate everything in a single image, but here we go. I've gone through and done my best to fortify my base. Double stone walls with overlapping turret fields. This is the LAST place anyone not friendly should want to be. There is only one way in or out of the base, a single wooden door that leads into the heart of the base with some deadfall traps and sandbags. Despite the fact that it is NOT a sapping raid, the first thing they do is start sapping. There are 11 raiders. I have 5 colonists. One of them is a pacifist. This is MEDIUM DIFFICULTY. So now I have to go out and get them before they breach my base all over the place and set uncontrollable fires. The literal hours I have spent trying to fortify my base are absolutely wasted. WHy is this still happening.

This is why embrasures are necessary. Normally you'd be able to build towers, but no Z-levels. Tough there are work-around, like buildable bunkers that your colonists can enter.

When I build my bases in the open, I build several small bunkers (small rooms with embrasure walls facing outwards, normal wall inwards and one door inwards) spaced evenly around my colony. That is my 1st priority. Normal walls can come later.
With that in place, no matter from where the enemy comes, I have a solid defensive position (or 2 or 3. The more you have, the better, as you get overlap).

The counter to that in RL are siege tactics (artillery, APC's, underground tunneling, air drops).
