I have a question/feature request for Prepare Carefully: When selecting a colonists childhood and/or adult job, would it be possible to add a filter for skills and or forbidden tasks? Say I select the "Mining" skill filter, it will only show me childhoods that give +mining.

Another tip, right at the start of the game, pause and look around the map. The next few minutes (or less) will be the only time you will see the landscape of this ice sheet without snow covering everything.

Take this opportunity to spot any large areas of gravel, preferably with a geyser on or near it. Use the order tool or even just plop down a growing zone to mark it before it's covered in snow and you can't find it again.

Btw, is anyone using the slingshot regularly? I've tried but aiming seems very... off and sometimes after firing once it won't shoot again but will consume my stones.

I've taken to just meleeing everything, with all the risks that entails...

My husband and I both pirated it last saturday morning, played it most of the day and on Sunday morning we both bought it on steam :)

Very addictive!

Look out for big patches of gravel, wall them in, heat them, sun lamp and you've got yourself a nice greenhouse.

Meat was never a problem for me on ice sheets, as manhunter packs are fairly frequent and there's always plenty of frozen flesh of visitors and raiders who perish before reaching your base.

You can even build solar panels in a wind turbine's area. Basically anything that isn't a wall, tree or mountain won't block the wind.

I have some very serious doubts about the safety of that link...

well at least Frank will eat good tonight.
Man i need to stop making cannibal jokes. Plus, how did they manage to make the walls fall on them from the sides. I mean, what, did they decide to destroy the wall from the bottom up?. While laying underneath the walls?

I think its the roof collapsing that kills them.

Oh my, I hadn't even thought of the cannibalism/clothing issues with relationships. "This hat was my sister you monster!"

Imagine if clothing made from human leather listed the name(s) of the "donors" in the item description...

I've posted the first alpha of The Last Ark, a spiritual successor to Sierra's 1994 game "Alien Legacy". You command a colony ship on a mission to colonize the Olympia solar system, explore planets, build colonies and research technologies.

I would absolutely love to see an updated version of that mod too!

I tried solo colonies as well, but the inability to bandage a papercut was just too much :(

He's not giving up on the game, he is however currently taking a 6 month break from working on Rimworld. But in a few short months he'll be back.

I got more joy out of my $30 Rimworld purchase than I did from my $60 Simcity 2013 purchase. Even now I've bought the Cities Skylines After Dark DLC/Expansion but I've actually been playing Rimworld instead of After Dark the past week.

Knowing what I know now I would have gladly paid double.

A room with sterile tiles can have a cleanliness rating of "sterile" while I believe regular floors can only go up to "clean". And yes the logic for recovery time and infection chance being tied to cleanliness is implemented.
