not a misfire, persay, but a tragic case of excessive force

When someone berserked, a dude threw a molotov...and hit him in the face

The fire burned out an eye, and ear, and scarred the head

The best part is, someone who the guy hated, made art about the time he got a molotov to the face, which everyone thought was beautiful. So essentially a horrifically maimed dude became a meme, for being horrifically maimed.

Sicks the dogs on the bandits! taming them took time, but paid off!
Wonderful timing! you incapacitated the bandits! Time to loot them.
Ate them after butchering them for spare parts : the rimworld way, eat anything that moves.
Thee Lines with no numbers?...read it again, out loud...first part of each.

To be honest, gaining / losing traits / abilities is like a wet dream of mine for rimworld : to have stories made far more interesting, with pacifists learning to fight in times of hardship, cold people learning to care when someone close is hurt, or traumatic events making blockades. Course, this would involve a simulation of pavlovian psychology almost entirely, and would be a lot of work, but hot DAMN it would be amazing

... sorry, thats off topic. In a word : agreed.

There should be a corporal punishment for making puns like that.
Seriously, if you guys keep derailing with silly puns, you should take it into private chat.

... Biggest tip I can give is plan ahead : ask questions on concerns, weaknesses, problems, ect. How long of distances will people walk? Is there room to expand? Is it defensible? Are there fallback defenses? Are there other options if something goes wrong? How much material are you saving for "just incase" something goes wrong?

Critical thinking like this is the biggest factor in a good base : its not easy, but its useful.

As a basic rundown, they have found another protean in these tribes which is "extremely resistant" to kuru. This by itself could theoretically function as a vaccine or treatment for it potentially, by weakening the effects of the offending protean to begin with till there is no symptoms at all of kuru.

This is with modern medicine, being an idea, so with glitterworld, I think its very possible.

Counter sounds like a great idea : maybe canibalism under a certain amount per week / year could be just ignored in the dice roll for getting kuru : so a nasty week of having too much cannibalism, OR, having too much throughout a year can then give risk.

Heh... Apparently you are more literate on these terms than I am, but I admit I didn't research into it, and just made a comment without thinking

Hats off for correcting me. I always appreciate it.

Actually, this could be interesting : make them behave like headcrabs, for select breeds? Basically turning mutilated colonists into new troops if you aren't careful.

...something like head-crabs or...*Shiver* Crysalids from Xcom.

course, then they would need to be re-balanced with this in mind.

Yes, laughing uncontrollably, slight lowered consciousness , talking, manipulation, and moving, getting slowly worse over time.

On the subject of being incurable, the article DOES mention a protean which seemed to grant immunity, and is currently being studied. However, this still sounds like it could be mild glitter-tech stuff. Its incurable with current medicine, but I suspect this may be different in say, 20 years.

If this is added though, I hope theres a mechanic in place to make very occasional consumption MUCH less likely, than regular consumption : I figure the body could still filtrate these things out once in a while, but regular, larger scale consumption is what indeed does it in these cases, with ritualistic cannibalism from tribals in new guini.

I think this is actually a good idea : I think perhaps having a LARGER bug nest, but with more time involved would be neat. Like make a fracture in the ground, or possibly a suddenly raised up rock wall where the nest would be, and allow spawns of the smallest bugs out of it briefly after, and requiring either mining away the rock to reach the nest immediately, which is under the rock, OR, wait until the bugs do it..either way you are made aware, with relatively little risk before it becomes an immense threat, so even if it spawned say, in your hospital, you would have time to plan before shit hits the fan.

I think a possibility to develop KURU https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kuru_(disease) Would be an interesting concept to add into cannibalism : low chance, but a serious risk for very long periods of cannibalism. Plus, it would be a little creepy to for instance, get a tribal prisoner with kuru, and knowing why...

Pretty much : this feature is a pain to make mountain bases a serious risk, when before it was such an extreme no brainier to make a mountain base.

Honestly, before these, there was no reason NOT to use a mountain base, and a base not in a mountain was viewed as an optional challenge.

Its an interesting idea, manually lighting a fire, but I think its odd to limit it to pyros...maybe not allowing people afraid of firefighting (if not pyro)

I'm also worried this may potentially be a balance issue, if no materials are required.

What? that is weird : racoons for instance should be nocturnal, unless infected with rabies...
