Yup, it's because it wants to check the version is up to date, I think, so it needs internet access, which AVG warns for.

I'm going to TRY to play without this mod and the UI mod, but I know it'll feel like I'm working with only half the game. Take your time to do it right and don't stress. We're all gonna be ready whenever you are.

Kinda surprised that with all this input there's no talk of why animals can't be trained to hunt.
Aren't dogs especially known for their use by hunters?
Typically, from what I know, dogs would flush game, retrieve shot birds, or chase things down for hunters. Retrieving is in game already via hauling, flushing game isn't needed, but a way for pets to accompany their master's during hunts without being drafted might be neat, they could corner animals or block them from getting to the master.

(...although I fully expect metal gear style dogs with knives in their mouths to happen sooner or later)

I'll try and get it to you by the end of the week.

In a lot of cases it's a simple find->replace job. I've already fixed my personal ones for my use, so if wanted, I can download the current and later this week give a full rundown of errors and suggested corrections. The majority of the errors are either simple spelling mistakes (Using "confy" when you mean "comfy" is one I recall off the top of my head) while a few are singular/plural or word order issues. If English isn't you native language, these are really easy mistakes and not a worry, but they bother me as a writer.

As much as I love the Clutter mod, and I do, it's one of the best, the spelling errors do bother me. Would you be terrible offended if I were to make a post to point out/fix the errors here for later releases, or should I just fix it in my personal game?

General Discussion / Re: Do you save scum?

Of course I save scum. But I use mods. So save scumming is kind of required to make sure a broken mod doesn't make things fubar.

also, there's too many animals that blow up to not save scum. Self taming exploders are horrible, especially when they show up with cataracts and bad backs.

Mods / Re: Mod requests for vanilla

I'd love to see something like the haul priority designator and the included unforbid designator, though Gaesatae doesn't seem to be around much. They did say "help yourself to the code" though.

yeah, it's very useful especially with vein miner. I'd love to see it in vanilla.

*sighs* maybe for Alpha 11? Anyone feel like updating it?
#26
agreed we need this for A11, the ability to have a nice fridge for meals kept beside the stove/table is so convenient.
#27
This is the last of my essentials that needs to be updated for 11. Then I can squee in peace.

Ugh, tough to play without this. It's just so simple you forget it's not part of vanilla

Ah yes... the death of Demo.
In some case it can be justified, very big game with openworld can't always make demo that aren't as big as the final game or other game can't 'sabotage' their own code to avoid giving a complete game a mod can unlock.

But sometime I'm wondering if they stopped making demo because many AAA game are so linear that if we had access to the demo we would know what we would spend all the game to do.
Not forgetting that game are getting so short a demo could make it look obvious.

...I'm just rambling around
Didn't some demos just used to be the first level/mission? I feel like game makers realise that some people will quit after the first few levels when they realise the story sucks/gameplay is boring/the whole thing wasn't what was advertised and want to get their money first.

A separate question: how did single-family log cabin homesteaders protect their property in colonial America? I truly mean single family (e.g. a dozen or less total members to rely on for labor), not a garrison from the British Navy with a compliment of laborers.

Defend from what? Animals? Walls, fences, fire. Criminals? The hunting rifle most likely. In those rare cases.
