Ideas / Re: [Suggestion] Visible weapon stats

This is another "report" that would fit well in the "Moar Spreadsheets" discussion:

Outdated / Re: [MOD] (Alpha 2) Gibbet Cage (BugFix)
March 04, 2014, 02:46:13 PM
Thanks, Itchy.  I've been unable to load corpses into my cages.  I'm guessing this mod is the only way to make that work?

Could I also use this post to ask exactly what the gibbet cages do?  Do they influence the movement of raiders, or decrease their combat effectiveness?  Do they inspire loyalty (or reduce happiness) of colonists?  Impact the effectiveness of recruiting prisoners?  The Wiki entry (http://rimworldwiki.com/Gibbet_cage) is not especially helpful.

Thanks.

General Discussion / Equipment Rack v Stockpile
March 03, 2014, 07:13:08 PM
This discussion seems to be shifting away from growing zones towards stockpile zones.
Is there any reason to build equipment racks?  Why wouldn't I just set my (free, indestructible, much-higher-capacity) stockpiles to accept weapons?  That way I don't have to worry about micromanaging which weapons I keep on the rack vs. in the stockpile for sale.

Video / Re: Weem Explores RimWorld!
March 03, 2014, 06:05:22 PM
Dear Mr. Weem,
Thanks for uploading these videos.  They proved to be the tipping point that led me to shell out the cash for the game, and it's been soooo worth it.  Really helped me understand the basic mechanics of the game, and no small amount of strategy.

Support / Re: Mac - Can't Minimize/Tab Out
March 03, 2014, 06:02:25 PM
Yeah, I've had the same issue.  Cmd+H, Cmd+Tab, etc. don't have the same functionality as they do in other OS X apps.

The best workaround I've managed is to click on the "Wiki" button, which hides RimWorld and opens your web browser.

Ideas / Re: Moar spreadsheet

Oh, man, I could totally nerd out over this.
I'd recommended something similar for colonists here: ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=174.660, but I think I'd like to append that to suggest a report that show's all colonists' stats:

  • Health status
  • Happiness/loyalty
  • Weapons equipped
  • Stats (to see who's best at which skills)
  • Current status/task
There is just so much data in this game that it'd be helpful to be able to analyze it some more.

Ideas / Re: Your Cheapest Ideas
February 27, 2014, 11:26:37 AM
Just started playing last night after watching several hours of videos.  What a terrific, engaging game!

Most of the ideas posted here have to do with gameplay, but I have a few suggestions for the interface itself.

First of all, it's really, REALLY hard to see weapons and other items that have been dropped.  Some sort of graphical element - a dashed border, or occasional "blink" perhaps - would alert you to the fact that there is something with which your colonists can interact.

Secondly, it can get really challenging to keep up with all of your colonists.  At times, when they occupy the same space, it's difficult to select one instead of the other.  I would like to see a panel that lists each colonist and their current tasks, perhaps even their health status.  Clicking on a name will center the character on the screen and select them.  This could even be built into the existing Overview pane.

EDIT:  A similar panel would be useful for buildings and equipment.  I would like to see a list of elements that need to be repaired/cleaned, and a list of equipment that can be toggled.  For instance, if I am running short on power, I can go into this panel and click all interior lights to "off."  Again, clicking on an item name will center it in the view, so if there's something on fire I can find it right away.
