Ideas / Re: Tech tree vs Tech list
May 31, 2015, 04:34:12 PM
I feel like it is more of tech 'list' at this moment duo to the timing of the game we are still in alpha and with the amount of techs we have a tech-tree would result in the empty feeling when doing research duo to the amount that we have now. But for when we get a bigger amount i would not mind seeing the idea of a tech-tree or such an idea for mods that use tech.

I remember playing and one of my guys had lost a leg and was incapacitated in his bed. So after i realized this i gave him a peg leg. Which is all well and all until i realized my colonist chopped off the good leg and put a peg leg on that... To this very day he still walks around now with two peg legs.  :-\

General Discussion / Re: the necessity of heating

However, one thing I've started to wonder is the necessity of heating. If my colonist is going to sleep with his full winter gear anyways, is there a point in heating the rooms? Other than for growing crops and maybe the prison, there doesn't seem to be a negative.

While i tend to play more in biomes where cooling is more required and to be honest while i have played in the tundra when it is too hot or cold even in there room. They do get a small penalty to there mood. For example a colonist with the nudist trait has a room next to the freeze and sleeps there, in his room the temperature is lower then his minimal comfortable temperature so because he slept in the cold he gets a negative mood change that stays with him for a day or so.

And on top of that you still have the chance of them getting ill form the heat/cold which if not dealt which can let them lose a limb/body-part or worse...

General Discussion / Re: Clothes Drops suck!

Clothing drops were too high quality before. I never even bothered to make a tailor bench since raiders dropped more high quality clothing at my door than I would ever need. Now there's a reason to gather cloth and make something.

He is right though while it was a easy way to get it, there was no reason at all to even get a tailors bench/table. On top of the fact that quality and the dmg on it is now different it actually puts a bigger edge on armor since they are even harder to come by and are not really craft-able(in the base game as far as i know).

General Discussion / Re: Too Many Traders!

Not enough traders... I like to see a bulk goods trader, sell all my extra food, cloth, leather....

combat, sell my junk weapons, and hope to buy some decent weapons, sure wish they had decent weapons more often.

exotic, bionic parts, sell clothing, art...

Need more slave traders,

Need a general merchant trader, a mix of who knows what little trinkets, and useful stuff.

Need trade caravans with the local villages, and tribes, too.

To be honest i feel like having very little traders passing by a good thing since you are on a 'rimworld' after all yet when they do come i have to admit that they are far to specific and a trade caravan as described would be an awesome thing. So a fat +1 since this is a partly important part of the game.(Late-Game)

Bugs / Re: Minor? Maybe? Dunno

First of all we can not really do anything with this since we do not know the version, operating system or anything else that may be of value while i can see what you are asking please realize that with a post just like this people can't really help you.

I happen to find a bug that people besieging your colony have a window where they will not attack back when you sally out to them.

-What the circumstances were.
I moved out as soon as i saw the siege message to caught them before they have a setup base or could start lobbing shells into my base.
I moved out with mainly ranged citizens and 1 melee.

-What happened.
As i took cover before there supplies dropped i noticed that my men were already shooting while they did not even bother to notice me and they had the edge when it came to range since they had sniper rifles and other medium firearms while i still had to do with mainly pistols. Only after i killed at least 1/2 of them did they start to fight back but at that point i already won the fight.

-What you expected to happen.
To be honest i was expecting that they would shoot me on sight yet they just stood there like idle non-drafted colonist.

-How we can reproduce the bug. This part is important!
I think it should be possible when spawning a siege and moving out with armed forces after all of them have dropped in and then started to move to there staging ground. Yet i do feel the need to report that when ever i had this happen to me there was most of the time at least 1 if not more people not at the point where the rest was waiting. Yet i am unsure if this is a cause of the problem or just a thing since some people are just slower in-game then others.

When it comes to logs i have no logs on record sadly i do have the save file though. The (what i hope is the right) world and the correct save file as an attachment. Also note that this save file does not include the colonists i used to assault the first siege where i had thing bug/glitch, yet when it comes to the second siege where this happened to me there are a couple of people who have been there.

Ideas / Re: upgrade to every action through research
April 22, 2015, 12:41:53 PM
While i like the idea it just feels too simple it just makes these bits a waste of time to research unless you have nothing else to look at. For example cleaning just a simple stat bonus is no fun something like an automated vacuum cleaner that has a recharge station that is something interesting.

Has anyone thought of the fact that as gamers we can't buy stuff like an arcade from the Exotic Goods Trader as a potential Joy source?(Atleast i did not see it when browsing through the source and the textures)

General Discussion / Re: Introduce Yourself!
April 22, 2015, 12:33:35 PM
Hi, my name is PotatoOnStick my real name is "Eelco", I live in The Netherlands and i'm 17 years old. I also study laboratory basics at this time and i hope to go into engineering  from the lab side one day.

-What introduced you to RimWorld? Or to this style of game in general?

I found rimworld when i was browsing through my Youtube inbox and saw a spotlight of it from who i can't recall but after that i waited a little and kept a close eye. Now i finally bought the game and i feel like i need more time to play it now.

-What's your favorite other game?

I tend to play a lot of strategy games but to be fairly honest i tend to not really care about genre yet i do prefer games which require some form of thinking or the possibility of different tactics

-Most embarrassing gaming-related story?

Oh dear god there you ask me something.. I feel like i made so many blunders over the years that its hard to recall. Yet for example just a day ago i accidentally walled myself in with no way out in a sandbox MMO to which i'm still waiting to find a way out...

-What kind of breakfast cereal is the best?

Cereal? i don't eat cereal not even at breakfast.
