Also whenever you see the words "pawn", "tribal" or "raider" what you are actually reading is "Hat".

Or duster :P

I play Boreal all the time and use giant mountain bases. I try to use outside fields only and then go the whole winter hunting only if I run low on food. It makes the game feel more realistic and adds a difficulty level.

I'm still a fan of the core values, everyone loves a cult.

So recently I've been playing Rimworld. I've noticed some rather strange things. So I'll share some of mine, and you'll share some of yours.
First, lets just talk about this.

A single log of wood 0.40 KG does 8 blunt damage, at a 2.20 second cool down. 0.40 KG is about 0.88 pounds which is basically a stick. Not even a big stick either, its like a stick the size of a bigger-than-usual slingshot.
Now, the thing here is that a wooden club does something like 4 damage. The club is made of 35 wood. 35x0.88=24+2.4+4+0.4=30.8 pounds. That club weighs 30.8 pounds, and does 4 damage. A person's fist does more damage then a 30 pound club, a SPIKED CLUB.
Hang on, hang on. I just checked. A person's fist does 6 damage. That means that if im correct, someone's punch has 1.5x the force of a 30.8 pound club swinging down on someone.
What the fuck?

Also, clearly we see that the CLUB is SPIKED. A steel club with steel spikes should inflict stab-wounds not blunt wounds, a MACE would inflict blunt wounds, not a spiked club. Yet, the Club, despite being spiked, does not stab someone's eye out, instead smashing their head in.

Anyone else want to add to this?

You can't go by weight alone, if you have ever done anything with wood working, you know you have waste material. I made a baseball bat in high school and it wasn't even close to the weight of the wood I started with after I had gotten done.

A unit of cloth weighs 0.03kg.

A tuque takes 25 cloth to make, and weighs 0.07 kg.  Where'd the rest go???

Even worse, a parka takes 120 cloth to make, and weighs 3.8 kg.  So much for conservation of mass!

You have to account for waste material, when I was in high school and had to make something in home economics, I used about 10 yards of fabric to make a single gun back that really only used 4 yards total. The rest was lost in production.

We have had several successful ones in the past. I was part of the most recent one. We did a single season and it was pretty awesome.

I usually build a small storage bar that I can expand, use that as a basic house for a common room for awhile until I build a city like setup. Usually then after that I move into the mountain.

You can administer smokeleaf until your animals pass out then load them. That was how I took my cats and dogs with me.

WARNING!

I do not recommend this mod.

As others above me have stated, I just got a NaNC bug that ruined the 50 hours I put into my hardcore playthrough. This mod looked very promising and I was loving it until one day, I loaded my save and everything in my freezers - all the meat, vegetables, meals, pemmicans spoiled and became inedible. All the human corpses and animal corpses Ive been storing in my freezers all turned to bone / dessicated. My colonists ALL refused to go to sleep in their rooms and all slept on the floor. I don't know why. Sadly I live in a tundra biome for that save, it was the middle of winter, so my colonists had nothing to eat and everything went to shit and we all died. Thanks to this mod.

Its great, but currently I can't recommend it. The bugs are GAME BREAKING.
You have been warned.

You read there where updates to the flow and how the piping works right? I've been using this mod throughout many different alphas and playthroughs and never once have I had a major bug. It sounds more to me like you couldn't maintain a stable temp in your freezer thus causing everything to heat up and spoil before you noticed.

I saw you have a countertop but it's not possible to put a stockpile on it. I have no reason to build shelves / countertops if I can't use it for placing items on them. For example, it would be perfect in the kitchen for ingredient storage.

Please consider adding that functionality. There are other mods that allow this but I'd prefer to not have multiple furniture mods.

Thanks for your great work I use many of the items consistently.

Your colonists will eat at them if you place a chair. I use them for making kitchen islands and bars. They work very well for social events where people smoke and drink.

I don't get why there's no orbital transport ships.  I mean, you can teleport items between the ground and space, including livestock, so why not just ask for a ride.  Pay your fee, and teleport off of the planet's surface.  Done!  I know this would mean the game would end very early and easily, but you could make a ticket for a human something like 10,000 silver each.

It goes with the fact that you can't really trust too many people in rimworld. Imagine buying a ticket only to be put into slavery or taken up to be sold as spare parts. I would never trust a trade ship, especially one that has body parts for sale. So lore wise, your people have a self preservation and don't want to risk that chance.

Also how many years did your father work there until he lost his fingers ?
And how old is he now ?

He had worked there for about 8 years when it happened. They usually had someone lose a limb or have another extreme injury at least once a year. (He worked for Exon making wire twine for hay bales and other shipping.) The person before him had her entire arm taken off by one of the baling machines.

He's 56 now and this happened 14 years ago. He had years of rehab and work to gain back manipulation. Now he can work almost like he has his whole hand and still has an engineering job, just with a different company and industry.
