I have found a side shot of an interesting weapon for survival use,
it's the .22 M4 Survival Rifle used during World War Two by air men whose aircraft were shot down to hunt with. It was never meant for any combat situations.
It only has 4 shots per magazine, bolt-action and weighs about 1.8 kilograms. The ammunition that it uses is the .22 hornet.

The answer to how a nude person can carry a pistol and a knife is simple, use one hand to carry the knife, the other, the pistol.
In other words, define 'gun'.
You could easily define what the clothing can do and whatnot...


Power Armor may well be flexible power suit, the graphics may change to whatever and whenever.
What matters that it is defined to do what it did.


There are mods to create guns. Tynan obviously didn't want the colony to manufacture guns.

Thermoelectric Generator (Wall that equalises heat and produce power in the process.)

Btw, the Stirling Reactor is underpowered as it produces less than 3 times than that of the Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator.

By now, it's probably safe to say that this feature is not coming for quite some time so I would recommend that someone create a mod for it, release it and show it to Tynan, he might just integrate it into the game.

This is not particularly about modding, it aims to ask the question on what would happen if Tynan had made Rimworld 3D from the outset. If I was asking about mod viability, this would be in the modding forums.
Again, this is a discussion on what if Tynan made the game differently kind of scenario, I hope this clears things up.

Please try to keep to the OP topic.


Having more than one Z level or any Z level is irrelevant, this is about full 3D with models like going away from a grid format to a freeform game. Pathing would only need to calculate collision meshes with all simplicity.


Points to anyone who can figure out how might area based commands such as dig be adapted into volume based commands...
clue: You might need a toggle key...


What aspects of a 3D Rimworld would you expect to find which may make your gameplay experience better?
I look forward to seeing 3D animations and getting 3D animation mods to install, after all, it's all about the aesthetic, is it not? :D

It could just be something that colonists carry about automatically.
It's no fault of ours that Tynan made combat the single most prominent feature of the game above all. Raids are, after all, how you die.

Carry weight can decrease cell movement speed, compound terrain walk ineffectiveness...
Actually, I kinda is against the idea of generic ammo since ammo is vital to immersion.
Light rounds are the worst of the examples, "You found a cache of 1 light round" Ok, let's turn it into 7.62mm and fire one shot of that LMG, it's worth more than using it with a Saturday Night Special (Ultralight pistol)!"

When light rounds are so vastly different ie. .22 short (5.6x10.7mm) vs 7.62x51mm, having distinct ammo types can grant awesome advantages to those with lighter rounds to carry more of that specific ammo than that of the heavier ones.

As you can see, just carrying 5.56mm ammunition rather than 7.62mm has allowed the soldier to carry 2.3x the ammunition.
This can and will add realism, common sense and actual balance rather than a one size fits all ammo. The hard truth is that LMGs(12.7, 7.62, 5.56) just do not use the same ammunition as maybe say, pistols (common 9mm, 5.6mm[.22])

Why am I so worked up about all this? SMGs and PDWs. They use pistol and rifle ammunition respectively. They have high fire rates which would eat through common ammo that might be better used on an LMG. It's ridiculous to simplify ammunition when it has ramifications on balance.

Nobody would ever use pistols and SMGs over Assault Rifles and LMGs AND HMGs on turrets. It's just no longer worth it. Immersion gone, balance gone and the carry weight and capacity would NEVER make sense. Don't talk about having LMGs eat multiple ammo per shot though, one bullet is one bullet.
