Off-Topic / Re: Stellaris!

Very excited for it. I'm a fan of pretty much every mechanic they've revealed so far.

Who's going to make the RimWorld to Stellaris save game convertor? Basing race characteristics on the average of those that fly away from the colony. :)

Looks great! Eagerly awaiting this release.

Really looking forward to the A13 version, as it breathed new life into the game in past alphas, but also can imagine the frustration with constant changes that impact your (volunteer) mod. Hope someone can pick up the torch when you finish - or that the vanilla code stabilizes!

I prefer AAR screenshot style, not a fan of Twitch.

Tynan has made clear a few times that Rimworld is unlikely to become his life's work, as DF is.

Very excited for it Abrexus! Hope it can be made compatible with A13 soon after, too, otherwise I'll be inclined to stick with A12!

People dislike the idea of paying one price now and only getting SendOwl, when they could pay the same price later and also receive a Steam copy. The difference is convenience, which is worth something for many people.

Sounds great!

Off-Topic / Re: Dwarf Fortress coming to Android!

The title seems untrue - isn't this a DF clone coming to Android, not DF itself?

I also put butchering and cooking in the freezer - butchering furthest from the door, cooking closest.

QuoteThe point I was making was, 3 years working on a single project will batter your head. Given what is potentially an early get out clause and a sound financial decision offered by a percentage of the community. It will be tempting, It will take some soul searching as the direction in which the game moves from this point will never please everyone.

That is a fair point. Earlier in this thread (or another?) we discuss Tynan perhaps focusing more on management of another coder and design of game elements, which he said would free up his time considerably for other creative endeavors. No confirmation that will happen, just saying its been acknowledged.

Just failed catastrophically in a surgery. Someone somehow lost their sternum, which is effectively a permanent injury I can never fix, because guess what isn't a part in the game as it stands? Among other things, a sternum is in there.

It's not a tall ask. If I can take it out, let me put it back in. That's all.
I'd rather that didn't happen, it would take most of the risk and all of the fun out of surgery.
Immortal colonists are uninteresting colonists, at least for me the chance of losing them is part of what makes me value them.
It keeps me interested in what happens. Just think of the feeling you get when your only cook is getting slower and slower because of accumulated back injuries and there is nothing you can do about it. Now compare that feeling to the same cook getting wounded and recovering completely. Which makes a more interesting experience for you?

One comment - setting: not fantasy. Futuristic, historic, realistic, scifi, all good, but please not fantasy.

Sounds like a great feature: spontaneous combustion! :)
