So AAR, do you plan on extending the mod as well as keep it updated?

text log,
... day 90, its -64C outside and Frank cooked a simple meal with human meat. Mark is going to kill everyone ... Mark started to kill everyone ... Jess arrested Mark ...
... day 91, ...Mark was released into the colony, everything is fine ... Mark ate simple meal ...

Actually I'll be honest Feirfec... I really like your idea. Maybe not as the tale system but a day by day diary like function that pulls in a crap ton of variables as well as a large library of definitive words and then tell the player a story based on what the colonist did, experienced, said, etc.

RMuldoun here o/

Always wonderful to see my old mod being brought back to life... you have no idea how happy this is going to make people friend; not to mention Tynan liked it back when it worked.

Can we please get some pictures Winter?

Also yay for Orchards.

I put some screenshots in the original post this evening. I think they show off everything.  :)

Orchards will be awhile away. I think Igabod's Xtra Plants mod has orchard like stuff.

He's working on them last priority. I just mentioned to him how dumb it was that we grew entire trees worth of fruit only to have them need to be replanted over and over again with 10-15 day grow cycles.

More like if you have a certain number of the fruit you can plant an orchard that puts out food every so often after a few day period.

I'd be okay with it as long as there is a system/naming standard that keeps mod-related content strictly separated from vanilla content. I think the DF wiki does this decently.

Well Evul we've been given gold by Tynan, would you be opposed to assisting the modding board into a quick and easy transfer of info to the Wiki itself?

Requesting plants that are technically regrowable on their own drop items every so often instead of being harvested and then having to be regrown from scratch. If I plant fruit trees, they should go to like 90 percent upon being harvested. Same with tomatoes and most berry types.

Sorry, but if you can fix this I would greatly appreciate it. Just makes the mod a lot more logical.

I'm not sure I am understanding you correctly. But the general gist of what I get is that you want all of the plants which are not destroyed upon harvest to just drop their fruits every time they hit 100% growth without requiring a colonist to go over to them and harvest them. Unfortunately this isn't doable without some C# coding and I'm not good enough at that to even attempt it. I'm not sure I'd do that anyway though.

I am however considering making several orchard buildings (similar to the seedless grape vine) which wouldn't be actual plants but would automatically produce fruit every so often. The C# code for that has already been done by Skullywag, and I'm just good enough to be able to edit it to work for other buildings.

I haven't fully decided on whether or not I want to do that yet though. But if I do decide to do it, I'll probably wait until the next alpha. I've got too many things in the list already to get to that just now. But the fact that you are requesting something similar to that does move it up on my priority list to make a decision on it.

Please, do keep submitting ideas to me. I'm definitely open to them.

Follow the orchard idea. It makes the mod a lot more logical with the way the planting and tree system is currently while giving a great way to use wood.

This have been mentioned in this topic on the mod forum:
https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=7037.msg69665#msg69665

If it is added we should keep it to strictly mod author added and don't allow for other user to add a mod list this to avoid outdated mods in the list.

I'm fine with this.

Seeing as this has been necro'd, I must ask Tynan if you'd be willing to finally let us use the wiki for mod information? Just a separated section because honestly at this point I know far fewer people playing vanilla and so many more playing mods, which honestly is a wonderful synergy to see in this community.

I also must agree that Toasty needs to fix the system where coffee becomes required after a certain period or the negative effect happens.

General Discussion / Re: Similar Games for Kids

I think it's rather unfair for you to proclaim it's too hard for them to pick up, especially when looking at the golden age of gaming where most video games were so stupidly optimized for playing that we had to chip away at them piece by piece. Sit them down and show them the ropes.

Welp it's time to reopen the old Reddit thread with all the scenarios people thought up...

If you reply, Tynan, could you also explain what changed about the windturbines?

"Expanded/refactored code for wind turbine wind area."

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORDS
Lots of other things too!

Thanks for taking the time to explain all that Tynan, that's all really great news! Is there any chance that the test system you made will be usable for players to toy with at any point? I feel modders who do game overhauls would probably find some use with it.
