Ideas / Re: Instead of 3 mortars and 1 ammo type...
February 24, 2015, 10:15:49 AM
For this I do know that there is a mod that adds those shells to the game, sadly I don't know the name but I know it's included in the epyk pack...https://ludeon.com/forums/index.php?topic=9092.0

So maybe you can use that pack for alpha 8 now (sorry its not updated to alpha 9 yet...) until they add it but I really like the idea.

Ideas / Re: The right heating system
February 24, 2015, 10:13:30 AM
Well if you're talking about heat transfer between walls there is a very good heating mod that is called Central Heating.
It adds vents that basically are placed like coolers and that transfer temp without giving away safety. Well if you want heating walls...that would be a little op to me would it not?

Okay this needs to be toned down.
Food poisoning I understand by uncooking things but SERIOUSLY TAKING OFF A LEG INSTEAD OF AN ARM!?
People aren't THAT stupid I guess but seriously it should just be like stomach to torso or intestine, not all the way across the body...

I'm not the most experienced.  I've gotten my people off the planet twice, both times in less than 3 years, on 100% and 60% difficulty.

And the hardest type, in my experience, is where they drop out of the sky on your doorstep.  There's no time to prepare, some of your people may be out in the field, and unless you have everything underground, chances are they are inside some or most of your defenses.

I agree the drop pod thing is the worst.
They sometimes pop PAST your turret defenses. And they kill one of your colonists before you can get the rest of them there. But I think it's pretty normal and that it shouldn't be rebalanced.
But I think that the mechs are the worst in the middle of your base as zesty said cause they take forever to kill and they just shoot everyone before you can prepare.

Seiges, ehhh...I've only had one but it was so easy.
I just threw my people over there and it was an easy battle.
I suggest the raiders having like a 1:3 porportion turret to mortar (ex: 1 improvise turret=3 mortar) to make it a little harder because it's too easy for the seige raid.

For the seige they set up WAAAY on the other side of the map on the largest large mode. I doubt they could even hit me and I was inside a mountain anyways. I got my people behind an abandoned building and it was just far too easy. The raiders should have better defenses instead of just...sandbags.

Stories / Re: Best random event. Ever.
February 23, 2015, 11:31:42 PM
I had a giant raid come in and they were like 30 people with rifles and charge rifles and I was like oh damn.
Then they aggroed these TWO cryo guys and then they ran.

Best day of my life.

Also there was this one time when I got attacked by two groups.
It was going to be bad.
Then they killed each other.
And I took the loot. :D

Ideas / Extended End-game ship?
February 23, 2015, 11:27:16 PM
I am a big fan of Rimworld, but before even going to the endgame I can already see that the ship thing is kind of bland. The ship seems far to easy to make and I feel that there should be more things added to make the game run longer.

Air-pressurization procedures
Description: Teach your colonists to pressurize the air inside of the ship. If the ship isn't pressurized, well...bad things will happen. Just pressurize it for the best.
Research: 2000
Work to make (Well I don't know any of the work things so I'll go by in game hours:)20 hours
Size: 2x2 block
Resources: 1000 steel
                 300 silver

Cryo-stasis research
Description: Learn how cryo-stasis works so you can make cryosleep caskets to get your colonists off this hunk of junk and to get back home. If you can find it.
Research: 3500
(Branches into cryosleep caskets)

Ship Propulsion
Description: Teach yourself some physics to prove to the world you can make a home-made reactor to get yourselves home. DYI at it's finest.
Research: 3000
(Branches into ship engine)

Ship Hull/Floor
Description: Plate your ship with this futuristic hull made of random alloys melted in a mixture of uranium and gold! It's foolproof and is GUARANTEED to save you in any situation!
(Looks like gold+copper+steel)
Research required: 1000
Cost per block: 25 steel
                       25 gold
                       25 silver
                       5 uranium
                       10 stone blocks
Cost per floor: (Basically 2/5 of the cost)
(Must surround whole ship with this and make floors in the whole ship to be able to leave planet

Ideas / Re: Write an event!
February 23, 2015, 11:13:52 PM
Desert: Sandstorm
A sandstorm has begun.
-Until it ends colonists will have reduced visibility
-(And your screen will be filled with sand too so you can't see anything. Of course indoors isn't affected)

Snowy place: Hailstorm
Hail has begun to fall.
-All colonists will take damage from hail (Like once every 5 seconds or so. Damage will be like getting hit with a rock [basically is])

Anywhere: Supply drop
An orbiting cargo ship has taken pity on you and has dropped some supplies *jump to location*
-Basically like cargo pod crash but there is much more stuff and much rarer. It is also more organized.

Anywhere: Inspiration
Your researcher has suddenly has a flash of inspiration!
-Research subject boosted by 10%

Anywhere with trees: Fallen Tree
A tree has collapsed and has caused some damage!
-Tree destroys anything in a 3x3 radius with the tree in the middle. Gives more incentive to cut trees.

Electronics: Malfunction
One of your electronics has malfunctioned and is not working. It will take some time to fix.
-Anything that needs power can have this. Time to repair varies but with ex: improvised turret it will take 1 hour to fix and up to 3 hours for advanced turret...

HOPE THIS HELPS! ^_^

*guy spawns 100 centipedes on day one*
Ya that's what I'm afraid of...

We could report those kind of players and if there were a lot of complainants he would be labled as "unfair" and People could refuse to play with him. However there should be chat between players so player can say that he wants to have some challange.

Well there's these people called trolls.
And while we can report them it'll just kill the sense of stuff.
Maybe we can do private servers like MC that needs an ip address to join?
And they can start on different parts of the world and migrate to different colonies?

Mods / Re: New Graphics For The Game

One thing that I would change is to make the muffalo all white again.
After all, white is the best color, right guys? Right?

Ideas / Re: Furnace Generator
February 21, 2015, 05:04:27 PM
The new update has made wind turbines not so nerfed anymore as they have been made stronger though I do agree that the furnace generator is a good idea.

But I feel that it is too much wood to power the generator so I would suggest cutting the number in half.

Support / Re: Save file won't open
February 21, 2015, 04:58:19 PM
If the save files have mods and you have no mods activated I find that you just get a black screen when you open the save file. As Man said the files are in that folder and if you have any mods installed be sure that they are on and that only the mods that you made the old colony with is on.

Rimworld is very picky on mod adding in the middle of the game...

Support / Re: Whether to purchase now?
February 21, 2015, 04:56:47 PM
Well you might as well just buy it now for two reasons:
1. You get to play it more XD and look at all the updates
2. Games generally get more expensive the more updated they are. Take Minecraft as an example.
