Making them is quite High tech / Late game.
The ground traders should still have some.

You can also deconstruct ship parts, mine them or build them:

ComponentAssembly (Research)  -> Build a ComponentAssemblyBench - > MakeComponent (From steel)

Could you tell me where to deconstruct ship chunck please ? I thought the ComponentAssemblyBench will do it but I have only one option, to craft components from steel, not to deconstruct ship chunck.

General Discussion / Re: Insect Jelly, usage?
May 02, 2016, 05:44:00 AM
Thanks for the reply.
I'll go for lavish meal (and forbit them so they are only use in bad times).
Any food, meat or jelly, will never spoil in my -4°C fridge, will it?

Edit: Oh, I get it: jelly can be stored under a roof, unfreezed and never spoil, saving fridge space !

Struck of luck, an ancient room with sacophagus was filled with jelly.
(who was there before the bug killed the bug and vice versa ?)
Now, apart for a good meal for my colonists (or survivors) or sell to marchand, is there any use/receipy ?

If this topic is still on.. topic, can a moderator change this page, please?
http://rimworldwiki.com/wiki/Deterioration
"Immunity
Resources that are immune to deterioration are metal, stone, leather, and hyperweave cloth. "
I'm seeing a deterioration bar on my leather (safetely stored inside :) ) so it may not be immune. Or I'm wrong.

How to make this work with an existing save:

  • Open save file with notepad at: "C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\LocalLow\Ludeon Studios\RimWorld\Saves\".
  • Ctrl+F, search for the tag "<components>".
  • Add the EDB interface component to the list. The line is "<li Class="EdB.Interface.ComponentColonistBar" />".
  • Save...
  • Profit!

The components section looks like this in my save before...
<components>
<li Class="BreakdownManager" />
<li Class="RTMadSkills.MapComponent_RTSkillIncreaser" />
<li Class="RTFusebox.MapComponent_RTFusebox" />
<li Class="FluffyManager.Manager">
<JobStack>
<JobStack />
</JobStack>
</li>
</components>

And after:

<components>
<li Class="BreakdownManager" />
<li Class="RTMadSkills.MapComponent_RTSkillIncreaser" />
<li Class="RTFusebox.MapComponent_RTFusebox" />
<li Class="FluffyManager.Manager">
<JobStack>
<JobStack />
</JobStack>
</li>
<li Class="EdB.Interface.ComponentColonistBar" />
</components>

Just curious (I'm NOT a programmer at all) as to why <li Class="EdB.Interface.ComponentColonistBar" /> is after </li> ?
(if li and /li are open and close list...)

I must have skiped this. Once game is started, any way to retreview this info?

Nice wiki article, I did not spot it earlier.
I had a troubling question reading it:
How is cover programmed?

sniper--stone----------------------------------poor colonist

Stone gives cover to the sniper so his shots are not affected, but poor colonist's one are.

sniper---------------------------------stone--smart colonist

This time it's reversed: the sniper is less likely to shot the colonist.

If all he above is true, then

sniper----------------------------stone-turret

is ok for my automatic turret?

Very nice thread to pick up defence ideas, thanks to you :)

There, there are overlapping fields of fire from all the outbuildings onto a central plaza (...) There is no cover in the central plaza, so 6 pawns armed with rifles and shotguns can set up a hell of a crossfire.

So I guess my (only) turret should not be surrounded by stones?
Another flaw in my design: does stones prevent the turret to shot with accuracy?
At first I make my colonists grab the outside stones because I saw reader sniper taking cover behind it (or it look like it). But then it works the other way round, the turret may be hancapicated by stones. The other idea was to make a slow down zone around the turret so that suicide reader don't come to explose it. May be not the smartest idea.

Waho, I did not think so far ahead, my only thought was to warm up around the rooms so that the temperature inside does not get too chilly. But your set up is definetly worth a try! :)

This does not look like the intended behavior, nor what we experiment in game.
You do play in vanilla, fresh "install"?

Silly question: did you target the visitor with a yellow question mark above his/her head?

Yes, it does. It was only to give an estimated of the benefit of rich soil (when hydroponics is too expensive).

Seems to be a legit question, as my search for answer point here (as 517 other readers of this topic ;) ). So far I came up with a sound yes, at last for devilstrand :
http://rimworldwiki.com/wiki/Devilstrand
"Devilstrand takes 49 (gravel), 43 (soil), 37 (rich soil), 28 (hydroponics basin) days to grow before being able to be harvested. This is even longer than it takes to grow most trees."
Anyone with better stats?

You refer to alpha 13?
I'm a season away from installing beacon and co, so i'd like to know:
is it as ever stockpile outside and beacon in the middle?
