As for foodstuff:
Always make one of the first steps, to create vegetable fields that are large enough to not only feed your colonists, but also are prepared to accomodate colony growth and possible prisoners.

And plant Healroot early on ... they produce herbal medicine that will likely become your normal use medkits later on (as they can beregrown, in contrast to real medkits, which have to be bought)
(I think it requires a grower with level 7 however, so, ideally bring one with these talents with you)

Stop hunting. Just don't hunt. Then there will be no revenge. Meat eating really is optional; it's perfectly possible to live off crops alone.

...

That said ... will there be an option to create fine meals that are pure vegetarian?
Like, a fine meal that,. instead of 5 Meat + 5 Veggie will require you to to use 2 different kind of Veggies (or 5 vegetable + 5 milk or 1 egg)

It seems to happen every 1-2 days during the night/morning hours (according to european time zone) which is bad as it seems like the admins/mods are also based on this time (and therefore are in bed/less active during that time)

IMHO it would be a good idea for them to introduce passive measures to counter it ... like automated turing tests (=Captchas) for the first few thread openings of a newby or a minimum time (like 2-3 minutes) that has to pass between each new thread opening of a user.
But of course it would require that the forum system (that is used by Tynan) supports it (i.e. that such plugins / setting possibilities exist)

Edit: would love something that decouples firefighting and cleaning (pretty much only things home zone does)

I definitely agree.
The area where you would want firefighting to happen is always much larger than the area you want to be swept

thanks for trying to help guys :)

I decided to remove and replace all my mods one by one to see if I could rectify the problem , and that appears to have worked , though I have zero idea why as all the mods are exactly the same as before

Perhaps some mods were loaded in the wrong sequence ... and when you put them back again, you chose, by chance, the right loading sequence for the mods?

Aye, not even Tynan would know.

And the world coords you found in the savegame sound like the coordinates of the colony on the map.

Considering that I never found anything so unique on a map, that it wouldn't be found on other maps as well (in some form or the other) and the map pic doesn't look any spacial, it sounds strange to hunt for a specific seed so desperately

Has anyone created a mod to make walls out of the bones of enemy attackers?
I had a mod ages ago that used meat (human) to make walls xD

...

What a waste ...
there's only one proper use for human meat:
Food for your prisoners  ;D

Why do you think they are called solar panels and not cave panels ? :-)
Just place them outside like before and build a wall around them, set these area to noroof.
Best would be to combine 1 wind turbine with 1 panel before and 2 panels behind the turbine. The panels prevent trees to spawn and don't block the wind for the turbine.
On long term you should build some floors there too.
Don't forget to build an alternate powerline in case raider/event destroy one.

Why should I waste my limited steel resources to build walls when I can just use natural stone cave walls :-D?

Andrew

You don't need steel to build walls ... you can also build them out of wood or stone blocks ;)
(IIRC gold, silver or jade would be also a valid building material ... but that might be a little bit costly ;) )

Yes, there is control over roofing.

The Architect, under Zones/Areas, contains 4 buttons for:

  • Expand build roof area
  • Clear build roof area
  • Expand no roof area
  • Clear no roof area

what really pisses me off now is my prisoners get an ate without table debuff however when I built them a table and chairs they refuse to use it... So yeah I guess the prisons are supposed to be the nicest rooms in your whole colony now...

This is strange, because chairs/stools+tables are (along with beds) the only 2 things that prisoners actually use.
(and I can confirm from my prison, where the prisoners have a table + 2 chairs, that they use it for eating (and don't get the debuff for eating without a table))

Simple Solution : Add it to the  Negotiator / Warden / Trader  Job Description
People with High Social Skills should gravitate to this problems.
And a the guy who can talk a Tribal, whose Liver Kidney you just cut out into joining your merry band of cannibals
should be able to calm down some whiney vegetarian.

Sounds like a good idea. This way people with a high social skill would incease their (not even) half time job (with wardening and negotiations) to a full time job (with counseling and the like)

It's like our doctors threw it on the stove while doing surgery lol

Given the frequency with which doctors will stab patients in the eye and remove hearts while trying to replace a leg, it doesn't surprise me that now they're putting prosthetics on the electric stove and trying to cook meals with them.  Chicken Cordon Plasteel?

I suppose savescumming is now mandatory prior to surgery.

I agreer. It is interesting that even doctors that count to the planetary elite have a high chance at failing to install a simple peg leg :D

Actually fancy beds (= good quality single beds) would help you a lot in increasing the mood of your prisoners (gives them the "slept comfortably/luxuriously"-buff), likewise (I guess) statues (by increasing the beauty/value of the room)

I agree that itg would be nice if prisoners could interact with joy increasing objects ... but AFAIK Tynan intentionally deactivated prisoners capabilities to interact with them (perhaps it made handling prisoners too easy)

You said you were in a volcanic winter ... that may explain it.

I would say that volcanic winter is a negative ongoing big threat incident ... so the probability for other negative incidents may be lowered.
Also remember that there are lots of other negative incidents, like solar flares, eclipses, blights, manhunter packs/mad animals ... maybe you experienced some of those ... and maybe if Cassandra had "rolled" a different RNG value, you would have gotten a raid for each of these incidents instead.

Also, if you have someone who is bleeding very heavily, it may be a good idea to just create a sleeping spot next to him and put this sleeping put to medical use. And also to put the bleeding colonist on doctors help only.

This way, the doctor can almost immediately care for the bleeding person, without having to waste time with carrying the bleeding colonist to the sick bay and then run to the storage for the medicines.

Sometimes this time makes the difference between dying and surviving
