Why is everyone incessant on the idea of the colonists buggerin'? Why not simply have a relationship buff (if in one, exacerbated by specific traits), and de-buffs (as mentioned). With the possibility of shared beds on the horizon, that can be the fulfillment of this idea made by many slathering, foaming users on here.
I'm partly thinking of any asexual fellows that would simply be alienated by whole fuck-race that society experiences these days creeping into games.

It's genetically programmed into people quite frankly I'd be surprised if people weren't trying to inject "woohoo" into everything. Besides lets worry about the majority of players rather than a small minority because if we tried to cover every minority of people well the game would never be released.

I believe this is going to be fixed in the next update. I think I read it in the change log.

So I'm going to go over some of negative things that people do for fun.
Some may have been more fun for people in the past but in a colony some activities can make a comeback.

Independent
-Throwing rotten food at prisoner
-Tourturing animals (Pyschopath)
-Making Fun of someone

Group
-Stand Up Comedy
-Public Executions: Not everyone will like it
-Gladiator Battle Arena: Make those inmates fight to the death
-Hunts: Not for food but for fun can even hunt humans.
-Trials: Capture the leader of an enemy faction? Put him to trial and let the colonist decide his fate.
-Eating Competition

I hope I'm not misquoting Tynan here but I believe he has said a few times that just because it is more realistic doesn't mean it is good for game play. If it took a week for colonist to starve then the strife in the game would be gone. After a huge attack (without kill boxes) I can 9 times out of 10 recover within a day or two worse case 3. So if I had more then a day and half to recovery a broken colonist it ruin the challenge for me.

It's not unrealistic it can actually happen. There are plenty of people who willing starve themselves to become skinny. Why is it not possible to starve yourself because you given up on life? Broken and wandering is just another way to say they've given up on life. However this post made me think of a great idea! Some people lose it and go wandering other people drink to solve their depression. Then there is the people who eat themselves to death! Your colonist will just keep eating and eating food until he either dies or runs out of food. Maybe 20 meal equals death or something like that.

Ideas / Re: Cleaning Bots
March 22, 2015, 04:37:26 PM
That is something that should be very expensive and shouldn't be an early game thing. I mean why not a mining bot? or a farming bot? Because in the early days of a colony you have to struggle. I'd say only have this very late into the game and something you can not build but you have to buy from a trader for like 20,000 Silver. I personally am not in favor of this idea when I have trouble cleaning I take newly recruit members and make them earn their worth by cleaning and hauling.

Also a polite request. Since you seem to be brimming with ideas that tend to be very short could you put them in the your cheapest ideas thread or just make a combined thread of all your ideas. That way we don't have 20 threads of your ideas. :)

Heads on stakes - Creates a huge debuff to anyone in the area. Most useful on sieges but makes relationships with friendly fractions go down when they see it.

So then why not manually watch your colonist instead of adding unnecessary feature in the game? It's not like the raiders are going to sit in that area forever. Look at it as if you were a dev. Currently as the game is there is no reason for this feature because any area you would forbid would only be temporary as most enemies will attack you eventually and you have to deal with it or lose the game. Now if there was lets say giant carnivorous plants that slowly grows till you get flame thrower to burn it down. Then I would completely agree with this idea but stuff like that isn't in the game as of yet.

Ideas / Re: Strange Moods

Psychic waves for the most far are bad (unless you need squirrel burgers) and I believe are an attack by mechanoids on humans in general. So having positive psychic wave happen with them is kind of lore breaking. Now that I think about it I'm against positive psychic waves entirely.

I have a few arguments against this one would be that situation you had is kind of what it be like in real life. The guy was just hunting and just came across a bunch of enemies and got killed in the process. Just another day on a rimworld it happens you can't have a perfect world. The second thing I'd say is have map awareness, if you have a hunter and there is a group of raiders on the map make sure there isn't any animals on it that you ordered a hunt on. Why add another feature that the player can easily prevent himself?

I believe having accidents like this is part of the fun of Rimworld so I am strongly against this idea.

Why not make a mix of the dwarf fortress idea and yours? For example we can have the odd mood but lets sci-fi it up.

Your colonist finds an odd plant and it sprays some weird liquid at him/her (Get a purple stained face). You can change the plant to anything though. A weird gem, or meteor hell you can even say a freak psychic wave. Also for the hell of it lets chance the effects of it of the odd mood it can't always bee good.

Lazy Mood - Your colonist will do nothing but sleep, eat, drink and do joyful activities. Colonist who see him in this odd mood get angered at the laziness.

Battle Hunger - Your colonist will crave a fight and will get higher and higher negative mood until they fight. Quite the problem if you have a pacifist but good if you he is a hunter.

Stroke of Genius - Your colonist will make something awesome like a perfect world of art. Or a lawn mower that became self aware and thinks the colonist need to be weeded out.

Temporary Insanity - Shooting at nothing in the desert to banging their heads against the tree your colonist has to get a grip! Other side effects include, speaking gibberish, eating rocks, flinging fecal matter, self induced vomiting, beating ones self up, paranoia, obsessing about an "the one onion ring" in a mine, think they're a mufflo, and much much more!

Murderous Rampage - The effected colonist will run towards the nearest living things and kill it at all cost.

The Waiting game - It seems as nothing has happened for now but soon or the effects will kick in! Lets hope it is at a good time and a good mood.

Work Horse - Your colonist will not stop working for anything. Food, sleep, joy or even an attack won't stop him. Also works 2x times faster. Will work till he/she passes out or is confined. If confined there is a risk of temporary insanity.

Split Personality - for a short period of time they believe they are someone else and act differently.

Doppelganger
- A bit like split personality however they will believe they are one of the other colonist and that the real one is just a doppelganger. They will argue or become violent when within range of the person they think they are causing negative mood effects or injury.

I apologize if these are not feasible but I seemed it was a good way to implement Goldenpotatoes idea without being a complete rip off of Dwarf Fortress. However if you guys like it I can come up for more even if it won't work for fun. I kind of enjoyed making this post anyway.  8)

Just wanna say thanks to Tynan for replying to me on twitter and reassuring me that he won't drop development of this game. I've bought other games in alpha only to be let down when they suddenly stop. Will be purchasing the game and joining this forum as well. :) Soo Hello everyone.
